  1. Yeah, it wont let me since it's the boot drive. However, I will just uninstall the HDD. How should I reformat the M.2 drive to allow it to receive the Win 10 install?
  2. Yeah, I wont be too upset if I need to just wipe the SSD uninstall the HDD and boot fresh with Windows. What I DO NOT know though is will I need to pay for a new product key or can I just reuse the one for my laptop??
  3. Yeah, it def DOES NOT have 500GB of info on it. The laptop is brand new.
  4. Ok, I've been searching for hours on this. I bought an Alienware R4 17 for a mobile gaming solution. The one I bought DID NOT include an M.2 SSD. It only came populated with one 1TB HDD. I went on Amazon and bought a 525GB Crucial MX300 M.2 2280 SSD. Today I received it in the mail. I took off the back panel and installed it in to the port labeled "SSD 2." Next, I used the "included" Acronis True Image HD software to clone my HDD over to the M.2 SSD. When I went to boot up, the laptop posted, went through the Alienware logo page then went to a black screen where the circle dots continued to spin until...blue screen. I went into the BIOS and tried messing with boot order. It then booted up off the HDD. So, I powered it down pulled the back off again and uninstalled the HDD. I tried to boot and got nothing. The laptop only got to that same black screen with the circling dots and wouldn't go any further. I am at a loss. I have spent HOURS searching and trying everything I know. I need some help, PLEASE.
  5. Wow, he def got a 1060. That's crazy. Why would a retailer ship a 1060 in a 1080 Box and sell it as a 1080?!?! Amazon certified too??
  6. This is helpful...thank you! I'll have him send me a pic right now.
  7. I didnt see one when I installed it.
  8. Sorry, I didn't read your last before I posted the new pic. I think he got shafted. This is the first time I saw the CPU-Z and looking at that 6 Gigs of GDDR5 and not 5X...at least it was certified by Amazon. But that's some shady ish. It came in a sealed 1080 box he paid 500ish bucks not long after the 1080Ti launched. I feel bad for him. We are deployed to Korea at the time so contacting people in the US isn't the easiest thing. (Time difference)
  9. Here is a pic of the GPU...still installed tho.
  10. Here is the CPU-Z pic...he is sending me a pic of the GPU now.
  11. So I just built my friends new PC for him and came across something weird. He ordered an ASUS Strix 1080 and everything went fine. Until the weird part. Device manager shows his card as a 1060. The Box said 1080, the invoice said 1080, but device manager says 1060. Is this a known issue? He told me that other software was also showing 1060. (I think nvidia gaming exp or whatever) Please chime in if you can help out. Thanks in advance!!
  12. Thanks for the advise. I thought it would be incredibly easy to find too. Unfortunately it has to be something I can put in a citation page. Not from forums or opinions. I can have multiple sources. But, my minimum is 2.
  13. So, I am writing a paper on culture dealing with Aesthetics and Recreation. Naturally I chose PC Building and Gaming. Now the tricky part...I am having trouble finding a "credible" source for PC Building/Modding to cover the Aesthetics portion. I know what I want to write about but, finding this source is gonna give me an aneurism. The following is what I want to talk about: Cases that show off components Color coordinated components MOBO trays (for hiding excess wires) Sleeved Cables/Extensions Custom Water Cooling LED Lighting If y'all can provide ANY help it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Joe
