  1. it's currently sitting on my server and i want my media to be accessable on any device i deem fit, (phone, pc, whatever) that has an internet connection. i want it accessible both in a LAN setting (say, when my phone is on my home wifi) or when i'm driving around. plex works, in that regard but it's giving me issues such as the transcoder crashing and so my media doesn't get played. i'm unable to use the "optimising" feature that it has.
  2. ok then, how do you propose i serve the files? plex handles this nicely and allows me to play them conveniently.
  3. that's fine and all, but i'm just concerned if i'll run into the same problems i did on the old system i'm using.
  4. haven't. i've been using fedora and the plex server software for that distro. i might want to.
  5. i'm actually unsure if transcoding is needed. i'm basically using plex as a means to listening to my music without having to keep a copy of all my music on all of my devices. they're all either mp3s or flacs.
  6. i'm doing that now. i need more horsepower to make it work properly. clustering the old systems should be sufficient for my purposes.
  7. i mentioned that the... "slave" (unsure if that's the proper term) computers would be handling the transcoding.
  8. too much processing can be a problem to what? the clustered array, or to transcoding?
  9. Hi all, i'm trying to assemble a mediocre-at-best plex server with oldish hardware. Any idea how i would go about this? The idea I have is running the Plex server software on a raspberry pi with two olderish pcs clustered together (the raspi acting as the control computer) to handle storing the data and handling the transcoding.
  10. didn't think they were relevent. PSU: EVGA 500W Mem: ? 8GB ddr3 GPU: Zotac 1060
  11. i haven't tweaked any of the numbers. it's remained as is since i've installed the motherboard.
  12. no, CPU is running at stock speed. 3.3GHz. it's old ddr3 at, from what i can tell 667 MHz. I don't tinker w/ the speeds.
  13. Not since I first got it. It's an old mobo for an old socket. Last bios update was back in 2013.
  14. Hi, I'm noticing a recurring issue with my computer. Well, two problems, but I'll keep this to just the one. I've noticed that when I go to reboot my PC, sometimes it won't POST, sometimes it will. Do you think this is a problem with the mobo? SPECS Mobo: Ecs A960M-M4 CPU: AMD FX-6100
  15. Hey, I just wanted to know if there was a way to... emulate? or, at any reason, have the functionality of "flinging" or "casting" my android's media to my pc in the way you can with a chromecast, without having one.
  16. because i dread the idea, i'm not particularly good at that sort of thing, and i'll mainly be accessing this by my phone, and we all know how much of a pain it is to use websites on mobile.
  17. So, this is going to be fun. I have a database that's stored on a local machine that i need to reformat (if need be) for mySQL, move that database to a linux box with mySQL on it, then build a frontend on my android (and PC later on) to access it and do some editing for it. Can anyone reccomend a way to go about this? has anyone built something like this before? Any help is equally appreciated and required.
  18. I'm looking for a good database software for Magic the gathering, so I can keep track of my cards. I've tried "Decked Builder" and I like it's scanning feature to make the initial data entry easy. Maybe i'm being a bit too specific with this but it'd be nice add on. I'd imagine you could use an SQL database with an android and windows frontend on a custom box but i'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
  19. Hi all, I'm working on a video editing project and it involves a lot of pitch shifting of jacksepticeye screaming "musically" to the tune of Doom's e1m1, i was wondering if there was a way to automate this instead of having to manually isolate every part of the voice clip and pitch shift each note by hand. what i had an idea was for me to take a sample of the voice clip, and run it in a sampler keyboard program and feed this program the midi like a player piano, record that, and use the recorded file as my audio source. Can this be done or am I overthinking things? I'm using Sony Vegas btw.
  20. did a little poking around, my gpu is running the newest drivers and AMD doesn't release drivers for my CPU (fx-6100). I could try looking at other drivers for say the motherboard but i doubt they've released anything (their last BIOS release was back in 2013)
  21. For a little while now I've been having some general system instability, most programs such as chrome and even file explorer and task manager, games like overwatch, tf2, and most recently (and annoyingly) This War of Mine, have decided to hang (or freeze) for a few moments and if they feel that they don't want to keep going, will crash. Monitoring the system resources through task manager indicates that it's not a hardware bottleneck as nothing there has shown a spike in resources required to do a given task (meaning that during these freezes nothing suddenly demanded the systems resources) I've been trying to think of a reason for this, even going so far as to think there may be an issue at the hardware level (such as incompatible/unstable parts), but I'm leaning more to the side of a bad windows installation. Any thoughts of how to try to Should I just try a fresh reinstall of windows to try and fix this (as a last resort preferably)
  22. no because steam doesn't A download files directly in the game directory and B download using the same name as what the game directory would be using
  23. I need to know the name of the file directory that steam will recognize, like for shadow of mordor, the file directory it'll recognize is "shadowofmordor" (i think it's capitalized but the point stands)
  24. that's not what I had in mind. if i did that i wouldn't get the achievements and such.
