  1. 701 on an i7 8550u in an xps 13! On battery too!
  2. I love the look of the NZXT H200i. My next build will be going into it. As for a parts list, i'm the same. I don't know much about ITX systems. You also mentioned you needed 4K Netflix, and I believe that's exclusive to Intel(yeah...bullshit). Any gaming at all? it may be helpful to throw a low end GPU in there for shits nd giggles. Something like a 1050.
  3. Go for the AMD rig. the 5960x and x99 platform is dead. Not saying its bad, but there will be no upgrades for you. 3rd gen ryzen is supposedly great, ipc on point with Intel, overclocks to 5ghz, more cores. Id opt for a platform thats basically halfway through its life cycle then a dead platform.

No problem. If you need anything else lemme know.

    Upgrades for me

The memory on the first build i posted is only 2666MHz. Ryzen really likes fast memory like 3000MHz ram. If you can afford to, go with this system. It has the better motherboard, the faster ram and the r5 2600. Recording with the 2600 vs 8400, the 2600 will have a significant advantage over the 8400 due to SMT. the 4770 has higher power draw specs. the 8400 has a different cooler. as the rumors? i don't think they're fake. to compete with intels 8 core 16 thread they're gonna need to bump up to 16 core. Unless the IPC is as good as projected.

If you're gonna record, id suggest going with a 2700. That would leave you with only 8GB of ram. So in that case i would take a minor IPC hit and go with a 1700. This build actually includes slightly faster ram then my last build. Upgrades for me

My work runs i5 8400's on 6 systems with stock coolers and i cant hear them at all. I agree with the motherboard argument, but it seems if OP were to NEED to upgrade again it would be simpler to purchase a new CPU because look at the market. Ryzen 3 will have a consumer like of 16 cores. There low end chips are gonna be 6 cores. in 4 years if op needs to put another $375 into his system i'm sure a 12 core can be had for the same price as these systems we're recommending.

Forgot to mention, but of you want im pretty sure a r7 2700 will fit in your budget of 375usd. the 2600 is a good gaming chip. Most games are recommending 16gb of ram, and with a 1060 and a r5 2600 you will slot into the "recommended" category.

Dont need a CPU cooler, dont need a z370 mobo. 16gb of ram will be more helpful then both a cpu cooler AND a z370 motherboard.
