  1. Made the adjustment. I know very little about psu - thank you. And yes, 64 gig was intentional - though not 100% certain I'll do it as 36gb is plenty typically.
  2. Thank you for the input thus far! I would love to go full custom loop. I have never done it before and would probable go soft tubing. I just fear a leak and losing everything. I played around and put a mock build together on pc part picker (found below). And yes, it is very much overkill for most of what I am goin to do. But I probably wont build myself another pc for a while, so I want it to be overkill for a few years. Plus I'm spoiling myself a little... I'm also lucky to be near a microcenter with some decent prices. Please let me know what you think, or any swap suggestions.( I hope to be getting them in the next few days) I may still go with the i7-12700k as I'd save $200 and only lose four e cores.... 3. Budget (including currency): unknown usd Country: us Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I recently started playing anew World with friends, Diablo, WoW a little, plus first person shooters ( CoD, Overwatch) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): it will be a complete new build. TLDR: what case? Air cool vs water? 12700k vs 12900k? Founders vs suppliers? Or does it matter as much if I water cool? I’m looking to build a new PC. (Passing along old PC to sons, as they use it now anyhow) And I can’t make any decisions apparently. Traditionally I’m more conservative in my build, however because of recent life events I want to splurge a little and treat myself… without going too overboard. i plan on either an i7-12700k or an I9-12900k, but I hear they are a monster to keep cool. And for GPU, I was going to go with a rtx 3060ti but I feel like that isn’t much of an upgrade over my 1080ti. So now I’m leaning towards a rtx 3080. I’ll be using an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor. my main goal is to have it quiet (with lower temps of course!) right now playing new world my CPU/GPU is cranked and loud. I’m not sure what case to go with, and if air cooling is an option (currently using a360 AIO on CPU) But I have always wanted to do a custom loop. I was thinking two 360s, unless I could get a case to fit a bigger one. I would love to go rigid tube, but I feel flexible would be easier to set up. Other than EK, and now Corsair. What other solid options are there? Is going with a founders edition rtx okay, or is it worth spending the extra on like a FTW3 EVGA? thank you for any advice/input! Side notes: I’ll be getting a 1 or 2 TB M.2 with a 2nd larger HDD for storage, 32gb ram, and new keyboard/mouse. Running Windows 10 most likely, but may consider 11 since it can use the new p&e cores more efficiently.
  4. Perhaps, but it would at lease narrow down the results a bit.
  5. I've actually been looking through them this morning. The cryorig had great reviews, and looks sharp. I would probably consider adding a 2nd fan. And then the mugen just looks beefy! I try using pc part picker, but it would be nice if they added a search function for rated tdp!
  6. I may have exaggerated a bit when I said dream case for water-cooling. But it was built with that in mind. Part of it is me cheaping out a bit, $150 for a 360mm aio is a bit expensive, and was hoping to get a air cooler for half or less. As much as I like the looks of it, perhaps I should have went with a more air cooler friendly case with proper clearance.
  7. I picked up a pc-o11 dynamic, and and looking for the best air cpu cooler. I know it is a water cooling dream case, and some day I may do that.... But I've always done air. I'll most likely be having an i7-8700k, may over clock, nothing major. Unless the new 9900k/9700k are out soon enough, and not to pricey. (And hopefully soldered!) I was thinking the noctua or be quiet dark rock pro 3, but it doesn't have the clearance.. So.. any recommendations? Or should I just go with an aio? ( Would do a360mm for performance and aesthetics) Thanks!
  8. Right now, in with a GTX 970, but that will be upgraded very soon with either a discounted GTX 1080 (ti maybe?) Or new 11 series GPU depending on price point. Paired with a Xeon 1231 v3 and 16gm ram, which will be replaced with a new i7 8700k &16gb unless I wait for 9700k/9900k, if they are soldered... I know the 970 should be able to handle the 3440x1440, just not the highest settings... But the new video card will be in by November I would imagine
  9. These are two of the monitors i'm considering, which can be found at my local microcenter. I'm trying to see which pros win over , and am looking for some input. The Acer ED347CKR is 100 Mhz (vs 75mhz), 4ms (vs 5ms), and is $50 cheaper, plus has a 3 year warranty (vs 1yr). The LG is IPS, (Which I hear is a good thing), better color range (1.07 bil vs 16 mil) I'm not sure which way to go, or if you know of a better option please let me know! I would prefer to stay at or under the $500 if possible. I was originally going to get an open box dell for $412 but missed out! Thanks!
  10. I'm definitely drinking the kool-aid. But I hope the i7-9700k is wrong. We all know cores are better than threads, but until i see some tests I don't know if it is more of a side grade than upgrade.... but we'll see.
  11. Strike that - I finally found it! It didn't mention anything about the ethoo evolve shift.. which is why it didn't populate initially... my fears of the issues with the pci extension + riser have subdued, but I am left being worried about thermals... I thought about even getting the EK Fluid gaming a240g, but from the sounds of it, the front panel limits airflow pretty bad.. i wonder if a push/pull set of fans on the rad would help this any... it looks awesome, but to easy my concerns I may just need to go with my initial pick of the Lian Li pc011 dynamic...
  12. Thank you, I watched all previously but the kitguru. It was pretty good, I'm glad he didn't just talk about the looks and mentioned some of the troubles he faced. Dmitri mentioned stay tuned for part 2 where he will test, but seeing how long it's been...I don't think that's happening! When it gets towards the time to build, I really enjoy the style of review Steve from gamers Nexus does with the thorough & comparative data. But this case hasn't hit his desk yet... Thanks though!
  13. Nothing is stopping me from using the non-X version honestly. I figured I would need the X in order to go with a 240mm rad and allow for extra air flow from the extra fan support. I plan to use a SFF PSU.
  14. Have there been any solid in depth reviews of these cases? I love the small footprint, and don't mind the height at all. The three videos I've seen have only been building in the case, and no technical information. My concern is thermals. I plan on going with an 8700k, and wouldn't mind a overclock to 5.0ghz, (but will be fine on stock honestly). And I will be going with either a gtx 1080 (ti?) depending on how prices drop... or how crazy the 1180 will be when they come out.. I'll most likely have to go with the shift X , which should hopefully allow me to properly cool it. But I would love to see some real world tests. I've also read there may be an issue with the PCI riser / cable now allowing full PCI-E 16x 3.0 connection. Does anyone have personal experience with this case? Or know of a solid review I can look into? Thanks!
  15. Thank you for the replies so far! For what i will do for work, it will not require audio. Is it better to select the body and lens separately, or via a package?
