  1. I thought that unraid can read from HDDs faster than one disk, but only if you happen to read files that are on different disks, but you don't have super much control over what files are on what disks. A single file is only read from one disk. I am not wrong am I? I don't know about the other solution mentioned, but I think it's quite easy to add drives later on unraid.
  2. Yey, I am top 100 for once!.... ... because there is less than 100 people that signed up for the event.
  3. As the person above said, if you go with a strip, I would make sure it had white LEDs in it (RGBW or just white), if you don't, the light quality will be bad in comparison. As for brightness, there is two ways to compare that, either actual brightness measurement, or wattage. As the ones you linked to only use 5w unless I have missed something, it will probably only light up as much as one bulb. That is not much, even for LEDs.
  4. I have two criteria: 1. I have to feel my current system can't do what I want it to do, as well as I want it to. Compared to what other hardware exist out there. 2. Whatever I am upgrading to should be at least 2x the performance, without being the top end hardware/too expensive. Exceptions can be made, for example bar is a little lower if CPU can be changed while keeping mobo, if it's cheap enough.
  5. SSDs became very cheap, I am not surprised that there is a price increase. Tho, 50%+ up is more than I had guessed.
  6. Using an M.2 to SATA adapter won't be any faster than just getting an SATA SSD. Only possible benefit is the devices use in other devices later.
  7. GPU is the weakest part of that PC, but it won't damage anything.
  8. I hope lootboxes and daily rewards get banned everywhere, they are both shitty things that shouldn't exists.
  9. Comission members is elected by members of the other EU bodies, who has members that is elected by people in EU countries in different ways, some directly and others indirectly.
  10. I believe the phone chargers that I have that came with my current and previous phone is 30-35w or so and I use those to charge at home. At school when I have my laptop charger with me anyway, because I have my laptop, I just use that to charge my phone too as it's USB C too. Its 95W but I believe my phone charges ar max 35w or do anyway. Its mostly because then Only has to carry one charger. Having one of those chargers with multiple outputs may have been useful as I could charge both at the same time but I live fine without it as phone doesn't need to charge that long if needed.
  11. Those are usually for HDD mounting I believe.
  12. I seem to be unable to create any user account in the BOINC manarger. Managed to make an user on Einstein home webpage and get that working. User creation on WCG webpage doesnt seem to work either, at least its zero feedback that it does. I have not found a way to create user on the webpage on climateprediction. So I guess I just do Einstein home then.
  13. I only folded on my RX 5700 XT, but I will be back next year and maybe I will have a better GPU then, can only wait and see. I didn't do 24/7, still don't live on my own and had an exam week in the event. (Plus wanted to game some). But I managed: 23,2 million points 167 WUs Based on day 34 I am above rank 250, good enough for what I have. I will get a new folding month badge tho, that is nice (nowhere close to point badge)
  14. @ReanimationXP Take things one step at the time, even if they drop support for Windows 7, "may remove windows 7 games from steam libraries later" is not and valid argument against it, other things you mentioned is, but not that one, as it's a seperate thing. Complain and range about that, if it happens. I have an online only game in my steam Library that has been unplayable for years because developer shut it down, it's still in steam library and I can still download it.
  15. It's harder to reach stuff on the mobo when the case is in the way, or you have to grab around it.
  16. My opinion on video vs text for guides/how to: What I prefer depend a lot on what's it's about and what I want from it. If I just want a quick thing about how to change some setting/tweak(bad example), text is obviously better. But when I for example needed to look up how to change chain on a bike some years ago, I preferred video. Another example would be when I started getting interested in photography, I preferred videos for tips to take better photos or similar, but looking up camera specs and feature tips was better in written form.
  17. Personally: * Never seen a ad for linkedin. * Might have had office 365, not sure, eight now I have school office tho so don't see it now. * The app ads, only on new install, remove them and they are gone. * Number 2-9 quite sure I haven't seen any of these, buy I don't use Chrome, I use Vivaldi. * I have seen Onedrive "ad" in the settings menu, under security there was a banner (if I remember right) * I have seen ads in Edge when it's opened because mistake or some thing that has its as standard program, one recently were it asked me to ad a browser shortcut to Facebook and a other program to my task bar. * I don't use 12-14 * I have seen the Bing Chat icon in search menu.
  18. I am not loyal to any company, I don't think any part of my PC or peripherals is the same brand, if you don't count that it's an Ryzen CPU and Sapphire AMD GPU. Personally I don't get why some people seem to be loyal to a company, or want fewest possible ones in a build.
  19. 5600X3D? I found out it's not for sale in my country.
  20. I am currently running R5 3600. Next time I do a GPU upgrade I also want to upgrade the CPU to 5xxx series. Would it be pointless to upgrade to 5600X3D? Should I go for 5700X3D/5800X3D or just stay on my 3600 until platform change?. It won't be now, but maybe in a year or two, maybe there will be a sale then.
  21. I do not use all fingers to type. I use all 5 on my left hand, to very varying degree, pinky only do shift and ctrl. Its not the "standard" position at all. Right hand 3 fingers, also not "standard" position at all. Kind of feel I write better with left hand than right hand even tho I am right handed, I am guessing its because of gaming. I do type "only" about 50-60 wpm if I try, but my brain usually cant think fast enough to type that speed anything other than short bursts (one sentence or less), so I dont really care to write faster, as my brain speed would be the limiting factory anyway. Even more true with programming. But if you work to type or have a fast brain it might be something, but if not, meh.
  22. Based on this: https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/overall_ranks Yes your GPU is underpeforming by a lot. My RX 5700 XT is doing 1.3 million PPD or so if I had run it all the time. I do not know why tho. You dont starve your GPU by running it on few PCIe lanes or something else running in the background?
  23. There is arm mounts for monitors that can be wall mounted, ad have height adjustment. But I don't know if any have enough for your use, and at the same time not collide with the monitor bellow. But you could probably find one were you can make the top monitor overlap with the bottom with 30% ish. And if the bottom one is height adjustable you can adjust it as far down as possible I do not have any specific models to recommend tho.
  24. Stick to 16:9. Ultrawide sucks for photo stuff. Go with 1440p 27" or 4k 27-32". Prioritise other things over number of Hz.
  25. I don't use ad-blocker, just blocking trackers. I don't know why, but when viewing videos on pc YouTube when logged in, I only really get YouTube video ads at the start of videos unless they are 30 minutes long. But while in incognito/not logged in in another browser, I get way more. Both start of video, get in the middle of video in 15 min videos, get ads after I have skipped 4 minutes of a video etc. I do not know why.
