  1. I decided to repaste the GPU just in case. The GPU thermals weren't causing the card to throttle, but they weren't great either. Repasting brought the temps down a bit, but didn't help with the DX11 issue either. I didn't really expect it to solve that particular problem, but lower temps are lower temps.
  2. Thanks for your response Mark Kaine. I am running the most recent bios and chipset drivers. And I just ran DDU and reinstalled the GPU driver. No luck with that either.
  3. Some other stuff I've tried just for shits n giggles to fix this GPU usage issue in DX11. Disabled SMT for 5800x Overclocked the GPU, Underclocked the GPU, set GPU fans to max Tried games in fullscreen & windowed Tried gsync on & off, tried vsync on & off
  4. Your link goes to a presentation about DX. But I did try this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 It won't force a reinstall. It just says that a newer or equivalent version is already installed and that no installation is necessary.
  5. Thanks Robchil. I hadn't thought of the chipset drivers. But I just installed the latest and it made no difference. I am also running the latest BIOS.
  6. I'm getting awful performance and low GPU usage (usually 10%-30%) while playing DX11 games. My CPU usage is also low, so I know that this is not a CPU bottleneck. My GPU & CPU temps are also not getting too hot. My GPU core clock is not rising and the GPU temps stays around 40c because it isn't doing any work. CPU temps are staying below about 75c at all times. Games running DX12, Vulkan, & OpenGL are working as expected with high GPU usage (usually 98%-99%). Heaven and Superposition both work correctly. Games that can have multiple API options such as Valheim, 7 Days To Die, and Rise Of The Tomb Raider only have this issue when running in DX11 mode. Other games that I have tried that are DX11 only have this issue such as Dirt Rally 2.0 and Star Wars Squadrons. The only DX11 game I've tried that runs properly is Jedi Fallen Order. The things I have tried include updating to the latest nvidia driver and then trying an older version from a few months ago. I tried uninstalling MSI Afterburner and Riva Statistics Tuner. I'm on the latest nvidia driver (511.23). I'm also on the latest Windows 10 update. My system is Ryzen 5800x on Asus B550f with 32GB Crucual Ballistix 3600 CL16 and Asus 1080Ti. The GPU was carried over from an old build. I built this system in August, but I just discovered the issue a couple days ago. Has anyone experienced this? I'd love some pointers for what to try next.
  7. Make sure you verify that the buzzing is actually coming from your gpu before deciding to replace anything. I recently had buzzing under gpu load that I thought was coming from my gpu. Turned out to be the power supply. Replacing my power supply was much cheaper than replacing my gpu.
  8. In the Windows Recording tab, try right-clicking the mic and then click 'set as default communication device'. Your mic should show up in the Recording tab only. It should not show up in the Playback tab.
  9. DOOM runs like crap for me in SLI at 1440. The framerate drops to pretty much unplayable levels during combat. I have been running the game in single GPU mode set in nvidia control panel and it runs incredibly well that way. ID/Bethesda have been radio silent about SLI & Vulkan support since they were announced about a month ago.
