  1. So my friend is planning on a new PC from scratch, it's his first build and is looking for some inspiration on what to get. He is planning on going for a 1080p with either 60 or 144Hz monitor and doesn't want to spend any more than £1500 GBP on the pc, monitor and keyboard. He isn't that keen on overclocking but he's willing to do it a bit. Some games he is planning on playing are battlefield, warhammer total war and cs:go. Suggestions on potential builds would be greatly appreciated!!
  2. @MaxBunny Definitely wanna keep it below £150, but more preferably below £100. Full sized.
  3. So I have just completed my first from scratch desktop build and have decided that my second hand cheapo Microsoft keyboard isn't up to the job. I'm looking for a backlit keyboard with cherry mx brown switches, preferably I would like it in a black and blue theme. I would also prefer if all this was available without too high a cost, can anyone think of any good keyboards that fits the bill?? Any help would be hugely appreciated!
  4. Hi, so I have been planning this build for a while and have finally decided on a £1000 budget for the build and monitor combination. I am planning on using it for 1080p gaming for a wide variety of games. This is the parts list I have so far, any thoughts on it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/c68jpb
  5. Hi, so I'm moving into private accommodation at university next year and was wondering what sort of internet speed 7 heavyish users would need? This is for the UK, we're likely to be doing a mixture of gaming, streaming, social networking etc.
  6. So I'm building a new pc and trying to find a budget 1440p monitor for it. I'm based in the UK and would like to keep the the price below £250, are there any good options for gaming at this price?
  7. @Quibiss Thanks I'll watch that now actually.
  8. So I'm building a new rig and currently am planning on going for the Be Quiet! Silent Base 800 with window in orange as my case. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/VhgPxr/be-quiet-case-bgw01 I was wondering what your thoughts were on my choice and the aesthetics of the case. This is the build so far: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/fLwvnn
  9. @Matu20 Ok thanks. I was planning on playing Witcher 3 as soon as I got this PC so I'll bear that in mind.
  10. @WoodenMarker @Matu20 Ok thanks. I think I'll go with the Pure Rock then, I'm trying to keep to noise of the rig lower where I can, and I like the look of the Pure Rock too.
  11. So I'm building a new PC from scratch and I'm a bit inexperienced on a few things. I'm planning on putting 16gb of Corsair's Vengeance RAM in and was wondering if it's worth the extra ~£20 to get 3000MHz as opposed to 2400MHz or 2133MHz? Here is the current draft of the build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jkjD2R Thanks for any help you can provide!
  12. I live in the UK, and I'd prefer to keep it below £50 but am willing to go a bit above that if it's necessary/worthwhile.
  13. I'm having some trouble selecting a CPU cooler for my new pc. It will have a 6600K that I plan on overclocking in the long run, but I'm not going to do it straight away. I understand that I would probably be better of with a CPU cooler with a big stack to conduct the heat away but I don't really want the CPU cooler to obstuct the view of the internals too much. Is there a good option with a smaller vertical profile that won't break the bank?
  14. Ok I've tried to take into account everyone's comments. I had meant to put in a 6600k but must have changed it at some point whilst fiddling around. I have looked at the PSU and chosen the 550w G2, I hadn't really done research into PSU but now agree that looks to be the best decision. For the case I'm pretty set on the Be Quiet! case, I really like the aesthetics tbh. For the CPU cooler, I was planning on going for a liquid aio for aesthetics and functionality, I have always disliked stock coolers and I wouldn't be able to see as much of my pc as I'd like with a big cooling stack. However I wasn't really sure which liquid CPU cooler to go with and would really grateful for any pointers here (The case supports either 120, 140, 240 or 280mm in the top which is where I was planning on putting it). Thanks so much for all the help so far!!
  15. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/3LQRJV This is my first from scratch build, moving to desktop after having had a ~£700 laptop for over 5 years. I'm currently planning on using it for 1080p 144hz gaming but this isn't really set in stone and I have also considered going for 1440p. I'm gonna be playing quite a few strategy games, Witcher 3, Ark Survival Evolved, and anything else that draws my attention. I haven't done overclocking before so am a bit cautious about doing it, but I am planning to give it a try once I'm confident I know how, so I've tried to bear that in mind where cooling is concerned. Any ideas on the build and ideas for monitors would be really helpful!! Thanks.
