As in post I've tested known working ryzen 1200.
Agreed tried removing power, hdmi cable, cmos and shorting power headers for 30 secs and no change.
Havent pried off cover to inspect but looks okay, tried a known working ryzen 1200. No change.
Its just a big heatsink resting on the cpu and random fan, for boot testing its fine.
I'm sure latest bios doesnt  remove 1000 series support.

crazyfrog got a reaction from RevGAM in Fixing up an old EK set?
Does anyone have experience replacing seals or aware of standard sizing?
I bought a GTX 1080 founders edition with EK water block fitted, EK supremacy intel water block, 240mm and 120mm copper rads, reservoir and d5 pump and the seals I can see are quite work where they seem to just sit flush with the surface they meant to be sealing.

I’d like to replace what seals I can on the fittings and gpu water block.

For the water lock a 2mmx143mm seems to be the right size as I estimated the old o-ring at something like 450mm long.

For the fittings the old seals seem to be shaped rather than o rings but I think o rings should still work. I measured 11.2mm internal diameter, 16.2mm external diameter and a height of 1.2mm so thinking 2mmx11mm o rings will work.

for the tubing I think the sizing is 3/8”x5/8”

Before we start you need to look at yourself if you need to tell me that old processors aren't as fast as newer ones.

I have 2 lenovo A70 systems they're old but have 4gb ram each, theyre towers with PCIE support so very modular, run cool and quiet, support windows 10 & 11(microsoft have issues) and have gigabit ethernet. There is enough here for a decent desktop experience but modern games, some productivity software and WEB BROWSERS will choke on this budget pentium cpu as well as windows 10 background tasks. The one thing I wont attempt is using old storage when basic SSDs are so cheap, the system supports sata 2 which is plenty for a responsive system. Theres a Kioxia 240gb ssd dangling in the below photo but it will be getting a 3d printed bracket.

    E5800 pentium performance in 2023
The system was really unresponsive with 90% or 100% cpu utilisation browsing the web. The geekbench score of 382 single core and 618 multicore nails the performance issue here.

    The mod
Its possible to use old xeon 771 chips in core 2 duo/quad era motherboards often going from single/dual core 65nm chips to full blown 45m quad core chips that can overclock to 4ghz. The mod requires a bios patched with xeon microcodes, a taped sticker on the cpu pins and either the motherboard alignment pins cut out with a 18mm snap off knife or pre modded cpu from china.
As I already own an x5460 I found premodded bios files for my system and flashed them via windows.

This youtuber modded the bios, I tried to do patch myself but couldnt get the patcher to recognise a current Lenovo .rom file.

    Install
As I was feeling traditional after dissaseembly I dropped my new cpu onto the socket pins. Using a microscope and steel soldering tweezers the one bent pin got mostly bent back.

A cmos reset was required without it posted but wouldnt get to windows. Cmos reset by removing the CR2032, unplugging hdmi and mains cable then holding the power button.

    Cooling
Its really obvious that this system needed new thermal paste on the cpu, northbridge, southbridge and gpu but I think we forget how bad modern cooling can be. Even though the system came with only a 65w pentium chip the system still came as standard with a bulky aluminium heatsink and thick modular fan and fully supports my 120w xeon cpu.

    The experience
Using this system is night and day better its so much more responsive and doesnt get become unresponsive from windows update or anti virus scans. Browsing the internet is responsive and video playback works in HD. Booting the computer is much faster with 16.4 seconds to the windows login screen or 20 seconds to desktop.

The new geekbench score with a 10.7% imrovement in single core performance thanks to the extra cache on the premium xeon and 90% improvement in multicore performance.

    The caveat
The old geforce 8400 graphics card is lacking while its got some video accleration in the form of 'second generation PureVideo HD' for h264 which DOES improve playback in vlc, youtube uses vp9 and seems to be moving back to that from av1, while I can playback 4k30 content at 84% utilisation its not a zero impact thing like on a 12th gen system with vp9 acceleration.

The 3.16ghz xeon x5460 is about the best cpu you can expect to pickup at a reasonable price but other options like the intel 2.8ghz q9505, q9500 and q9550 or 2.66ghz q9400 share a similar used price and cache and if you're using a non oem mobo its not unreasonable to overclock those cpus to well beyond the 3.16ghz I achieved. Yes its easy to pickup better samples but its the used market and depends on your area.

If I use dupoint wire on a chip it’s going to give a really weak connection that will fail eventually added to that if the connection gets caught or case moved it would leave me trouble shooting.
Also the header layout is different to regular spi

You’re right he needs to do a cmos reset but you’re instructions are terrible.

Shorting cmos clear pins as per the manual often doesn’t work so the best way is to remove the cmos battery, turn mains power off from your motherboard AND monitor then hold the power button on your case for 10-15 seconds. You may see motherboard LEDs blink on for a second as the capacitors drain. It’s very rare you need to wait more than 10 seconds for a modern system to drain so don’t worry about exact timing unless it doesn’t work first time.

Any overclocker would recognise your issue which occurs after a failed overclock so you obviously need a cmos reset and potentially a bios update. Anyway hope that helps.

You're digging a big hole pal. Paragraph 2 and 4 directly contradict each other and paragraphs 1&3 are completely false. I don't think you've completed a cmos reset as resetting the bios(its actually uefi but meh) time is absolutely reset after a cmos reset. Generally hobbyist market boards can have there bios password reset with a cmos reset but its important to be aware many oem systems passoword systems survive a cmos reset and the only way to get around this is reprogrammig the chip.

Skip to 6:00 for the interesting lag graph. On a 144hz monitor I noticed a difference moving from 4.x ghz haswell to newer lake processors.

While I dont agree with The Procrastinator 7715 he does have a point only no reference was made to your credentials only a quick mention half way through the video. Obviously this is a LTT problem having many writers, camera workers and editors only credited for a few frames after the sponsor spot when the video has ended.

I decided to buy one of these but opted for the easythreed store on aliexpress to the uk as better price than your links. My issue is the video you wrote makes references to a part cooling fan multiple times and heated bed mod but doesnt actually test or provide links. The fan is only a £3 25mm fan and small print unless you order direct from easythreed. There's also reference to a heated bed mod in the video but no links or reference where to find details on this mod which could allow ABS printing.
