  1. So to update any one that happened to look at this thread. I was able to fix it by replacing the RAM I had with new Kingston HyperX sticks which did the trick. I am glad it was the quicker, simpler fix and not needed to send out my motherboard for a new replacement.
  2. Small little update, I switched out the PSU from my current desktop and plugged it into the motherboard of the new PC and still nothing happened, as well as connecting my new one to the computer tower that I would be replacing and it powered it up just fine so the PSU is working just fine. Question: Since one stick of RAM I know is bad which is what was causing the motherboard to restart 4-5 seconds, would the second one which isnt causing it to restart be bad too? And also since the motherboard lights up and the fan over the CPU is spinning it could still be a faulty motherboard right?
  3. Hi Energycore, thanks for responding, I just completed that and still no luck with it. As you can see in the picture linked that I had a monitor connected and no picture showed up on the screen (you'll have to take my word on it since I seemed to have cut off half of the screen lol). The yellow light on the monitor turns white when picture is sent through.
  4. Greeting everybody, As the title of my thread suggests, I just finished building myself a new PC, and I am having issues with posting when plugged in. Here are the specs/parts of my machine: CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9x65 33.8 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Mushkin Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: Transcend SSD370 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply So I am completely confused as to what could be causing the issue. I double and triple checked my connections and everything is plugged in (with the only cord not plugged in from my power supply being for a second video card). I also removed everything down to just a stick of ram and no video card with only using the integrated graphics on the motherboard. The first time I plugged it in, the PC was rebooting after 4-5 seconds automatically which I was able to stop by only using one stick of RAM in the slots so the machine now runs constantly (which I will end up returning/exchanging after this is all settled). I also tried removing the battery from the motherboard and clearing the CMOS which did not help out with anything it seems. I have to think though that it is running constantly nothing got fried during it right? Since the lights on the motherboard are lighting up and the fans are spinning on top of the CPU and also the case fans are running. However none of the USB ports and video ports (DVI/HDMI) are working which is also leading me to think something is wrong with the motherboard? Any help and/or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the descriptions on the both. I read them both, its the best way to learn about it. (Also watched the videos too.)
  6. I am in Canada so it would have to be CAD. I know if it was American currency it would be pretty sweet but unfortunately it is Canadian money I am playing with. Thanks everyone for supplying a list. I will look into them and see what works best for me. I am quite surprised at how fast some of you are willing to help here. Edit: A question that I have had lingering on the back of my mind that caz reminded me about is a solid state HDD through PCI-Express slots. Are they any better/faster than regular solid state HDD?
  7. Hi everyone, I could use some help when it comes to putting a PC together. I have recently finished schooling in Architecture and I would like to have the option of doing some freelance work in terms of modeling/drawing buildings out so I would be using programs such as: Revit/3D Studio Max/AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. I'd also like a machine that would be great in gaming as well (again one that would last me 4-5 years). I'd be looking at the $1500 range (or up to $2000 if the case can be made) so any help provided would be great.
  8. I see. I will take this into consideration when I start to build, thanks Mega!
  9. That one does look great but the price is a little on the steep side of pricing. Are there any that are in the 300 dollar range?
  10. I had a 23 inch monitor that I was using as my main display die out on me today. I unfortunately don't know what I should be looking for when it comes to a new monitor. I use it for moderate gaming but mainly for watching videos on youtube and movies. I would prefer it to be roughly the same size (max my desk can handle is 25 inches) and one without a big bezel. In addition, with the new 1070/80 GTX release being imminent I was planning on building myself a new PC too and would love to have a monitor that would be able to take advantage of the cards. So any suggestions would be appreciated.
