  1. Roughly 8 years ago, I built my first computer and it was Linus Tech Tips that there for me to help me through all the steps. From then on I always tuned back to them for GPU, CPU and Phone reviews and I always liked their fun style of editing and Linus himself. Liked his personality and his core values I would roughly watch one video a week depending on what it was and even a WAN show here and there when I was active. I can't quite pin point the exact point but I believe it was roughly 9-14 months ago that I just stopped watching Linus Tech Tips, their videos would pop up in my home page but I would never click it. Nothing malicious from LTT or any ill will from me to not watch it. I just didn't feel like watching it. Eventually LTT videos stopped appearing on my home page from what I'm assuming because I stopped clicking on their videos. And it was only after this week where it exploded on my home page about all this drama that I find out what was going on. I didn't even knew about Billet systems, the inaccuracies of the data, etc. And the more I researched on what happened and was said, the more I'm dissappointed at LTT. Its like someone you knew who was a good person and a bright future and they just turned into a dick. Not a bad person per say, just a dick that they probably didn't know they were becoming. Things that were already brought up that I didn't click well with me was how Linus used the wrong GPU than what was asked, then refused to reshoot because it "would cost them money and the difference doesn't matter even if its a 20C difference" and then auctioning off their only prototype when they specifically told LTT not to speaks to a level of incompetence I can't really tolerate. I get people make mistakes, and its fine and I would even excuse it if it was LTT back then. But its not, they're a multimillion dollar company and they're expecting us to treat them like a indie youtube channel.Which leads to the point of the infamous clip of LTT bragging for 10 videos straight about their new expensive labs just for it to be inconsistent in the data rubs me the wrong way. With everything that happened, their response/apology video. I actually did a heavy sigh and unsubbed from their youtube channel. I'm sure they'll recover from this and gain subs, hell probably won't even lose that much in terms of raw %, but they lost me and my respect for their channel and them as a company. LTT made me fell in love with computer building and tech. And its sorta sad it ends this way.
  2. Definitely leaning toward the s10 at this point or s20 just for the 5g and just somewhat better software support (cause samsung has a bad track record of updating os of older phones)
  3. Currently have a S8+, screen cracked due to me dropping it and its my fault. Its a perfectly capable phone but the crack is getting to me. Anybody can help me choose a high end phone? Also alternatives to those I listed is also fine. No Apple though, only Android phones.
  4. will do thanks for all the suggestions. You were super helpful
  5. Yeah I'm uninstalling all the Dell stuff lol. Threw me off because I've been making custom computers for a while so it has 0 extra 3rd party stuff.
  6. Really college work and mobility and very VERY lite gaming. XPS 15 seems winner and I agree that 16 gb is definitely minimum, 8 GB is too small nowadays. https://www.microcenter.com/product/507461/xps-15-9570-156-gaming-laptop-computer---silver?ob=1 Bought that one.
  7. which one of those would you pick? I'm leaning toward surface pro 7 and dell xps 15 though
  8. Hey LTT forum! I'm looking for a premium laptop with these features: GREAT battery life, the biggest/best if you can. GREAT keyboard/mouse trackpad , the best if you can that is comfortable to use.(glass track pad really nice on the fingers, and very nice soft/long key travel) Good screen, I'm fine with 1080p not picky with high resolution. It just has to look decent color/brightness. Don't need high refresh Rate. 15 inch. No 13 or bigger Have at least 1 or 2 USB type A ports. I don't need really CPU power, or GPU power but I'm sure with all those things I listed, it'll come with it so I don't mind. Budget is 1k to 2k US dollars
  9. A lot of stuttering in a lot of games cause I have a lot of programs opened up when I play games (and I like this lifestyle and want to keep it)
  10. I would have to buy the CPU, motherboard, and Ram. I have a rtx 2080 and I am seeing lots of CPU bottle necks since I multi task a lot. Wondering if I should take the plunge with the new platform.
  11. You guys make great points and I guess it's choosen. Thanks to everybody that replied and gave constructive advice
  12. How would it be worth less than the 1080 ti? And my reply to that would be what ch3w said. I know Nvidia graphic cards dont "degrade" in performance, they just get less money put into older graphic cards to optimize the drivers which make sense.
  13. ^^ haha For the rtx 2080 ti, I really really thought about it and I'm sorta a graphic whore that wants the best of the best but I'd have to add 500-600 dollars more for about roughly 25 percent performance which I don't think its worth. When I bought the 1080ti, i only bought it because it was actually quite high in performance per dollar compared to the 1080 and 1070 at the time but 2080 ti per/dollar is just so low that I can't justify it And yeah even now 8gb is good enough already and I only play on 1440p really. You're right that RTX cards have architectural changes with a lot of features that might be used later on to keep its edge over the 1080 ti and its a good way to keep value of my hardware.
  14. Tbh I don't care for ray Tracing I think it's a gimmick for gaming but is useful for people who work for big animation studios like Pixar. You're right it's no point but it's basically getting a new graphics card that has the same performance and support. But like I said in the previous post my current 1080 ti is so reliable and working so well that it's a bit of a conundrum for me to decide.
  15. Lol hey I remember you from the last time I posted here hehe. You are literally the only person I remembered and u posted first haha. But yeah this quite the conumdrum I'm in. If I do replace it I'll essentially get a brand new graphics card with the same performance. Just less vram and little more support from Nvidia but my 1080 ti has been doing so well and reliable that I dunno if I can let it go
