  1. Ok I read over what you said and that makes sense, to be honest I just chose Gigabyte because it was cheaper than the asus one plus I had been with Gigabyte before and it never gave me any issue, here is my updated list:
  2. A standard HDD is £35-£40 and the Hybrid is only £65, so I'm not too fused paying that bit extra for a bit of extra speed, even if it isn't much. I need the extra space because I just go through it so quickly.
  3. Ok, changed cpu to i7-7700k and MBD to the Z270-E, it still has a M.2 slot on it so I'm good for that, i think the cpu cooler still fits with the cpu, I'm likely going to go all out and buy more fans for it, anything else?
  4. Also I just did a search for a 7700k, came back with Intel Core i7-7700K, at £290, thats £72 MORE expensive, where's the saved money?
  5. My old PSU actually was described many of times as a "firecracker" with good reason. to be honest what happens to my old computer I couldn't really care and I was planning on just throwing it at a friend for cheap or even for nothing. I got recommend that cpu multiple times and I'm not great in the CPU department so I just went with that, plus when I saw the ASUS Strix x299-e MBD it kinda sealed the deal because I just really liked the board. I've never done a big build before and as the case I'm getting is like, entirely glass, I decided that I'd try get some nice looking parts in there, of course though I'd choose functionality over looks any day.
  6. Greetings, user(s) of the Linus Tech Tips Forums. I have travelled far, all the way from my comfy office seat at work, to ask of your assistance. Alright this formal writing is getting boring and tedious to write, so I'll get to the point! I'm planning a new Computer Build: And as I was going all out with this new computer I want it to be peak performance, thus a question struck my mind: Now my current setup is a standard one nothing too fancy, and the included fans are more than enough for it, however this new computer and it's part can get quite hot, from what i have read anyway, so I thought I'd ask for some advice from the forum which has never given me wrong advice before, however you guys did once tell me to replace my dodgy, unbranded PSU because it was "unsafe", well guess what guys, I'm still alive and that PSU is now 6 years old and only buzzes every so I guess I'm fine... for now. Anyway, I'm not going to ramble on any longer, I've given you information and question, if you need and more information, well I don't have to answer that do I because I'm sure you know the cliche. Regards, TotallyIridium BritishHumor FalconFrag 15 (I change my name too much, I never remember what I'm called)
  7. Well at minute I can only afford a basic surface 3
  8. Edit: I was originally looking at surfaces because they'd be grate due to portability and also I've been wanting one for ages, but unfortunately I can't afford one with a type cover. Having one with them stylus would be cool and possibly very useful though...
  9. So I recently my dad helped me to purchase a HP Laptop, all was good till 2 days after purchasing it I received it and the hard drive made a grinding noise, functional (for now) but I knew this wasn't good, after many diagnostics and help from HP support, they finally decided it would need to be replaced, any way I still had school work that needed doing so I thought I'd hold onto the laptop for a bit longer, fast forward 6 days after receiving the laptop and the sound just stops working completely. Anyway long story short the laptop is no longer in manufacturing and I'm going to be refunded my full about of £395.98, The only problem now Is I can't find a decent laptop/2 in 1/etc that is similar to this AND doesn't cost more then £395 (I may be able to add on an extra bit of money £20-70 depending on how worth it, it is.) The Previous Laptops Specs: HP Pavilion 15-au034na (don't be surprised if you can't find it, once hp stop manufacturing something it literally disappears) Intel i3-6100U @ 2.30GHz 8Gb 1Tb HDD cost £390, got it for £370 with student discount What I need it for: Main things are Photoshop, Visual Studio and Microsoft Word, and whatever a student really needs. I like having a lot of space because I'm often unorganized and leave year old files just lying around (yey for being a digital hoarder). My dad would kill me if he caught me playing games on a laptop that was supposed to be for studying, and personally I ain't a fan of gaming on laptops, but if it ever happened that my main pc was down and I was bored or stressed having the option would be nice So That's the story and my problem, anyone know of any solutions? I can apply for a lot of student discounts as all of a sudden I seem to be the right age, time flys huh? I already have an account with myunidays.com so if anyone happens to know very good deals with them that would be cool. Oh two last notes, I'd prefer to move away from HP because although the laptop I had was really good, they're services were a bit meh, and the products felt very flimsy but that may just be me with my big hands, and please don't mention macbooks or apple products as much as I'd love to own one, because i've never owned anything other then my old Ipod touch, they are just way too expensive. (P.S I'm from UK )
  10. So far I've made the following decisions, Buy a new, more known brand of PSU, upgrade Motherboard (based off a friends decision) a new CPU and when all that is done I'll buy a new hard drive, possibly a HDD and an SSD and finally new GPU, a geforce 1080. The only issue I have now is finding a case to support these, keep the cool and fit into my room.
  11. I have no clue how I haven't killed it yet or how it hasn't killed me, but It's working and it will have to do where it is because now that I opted for Dual Monitors I've got no other place for it other then the carpet It's worked for the past 4+ years now Let's hope it doesn't die anytime soon.
  12. to say it runs fine 9/10 times, my pc is in a terrible state. Also yes it's dirty, last clean out was almost a month ago now.
  13. I've had a friend who recommended that case once, I never did get time to look at it. measuring it up and comparing it to my current case its around the same height but much longer, this would stick very far out from my Desk, one problem with a new case is I just don't have any room in my room. That's also one of the reasons for overheating because it's often placed on, which I dreadfully regret, a carpet (with feet to keep it above the carpet.)
  14. Sounds Expensive, But that's why I'd prefer to get everything sorted out now so i can save up the needed money rather then it being too late.
  15. I never actually noticed that myself, I'm going to be honest and tell you that most of the parts in the computer I didnt choose, it was my cousin that chose them as I had no clue what I was doing at the time, only thing I have done is add 1 more stick of RAM and replaced the GPU
