  1. Must downgrade from 980 Ti, because AMD fanboy.
  2. Huh, my old gigabyte AMD motherboard handled it just fine.
  3. Heya folks. I've scoured the internet far and wide and cannot find a solved solution to this. I have upgraded to an i5 4690k with an Asus Z97-P motherboard. I cannot control the fan speed on my 3 pin Corsair SP120. The two other chassis fan headers on the board, however, are fully controllable. Can anyone offer insight into how to stop my PC sounding like a hoover. Thanks
  4. Hello again! I am faced with two choices. I can buy a lovely GTX 1080 for about £620 in about 10 days. Alternatively, I can buy a GTX 980 Ti (used) for £400 and then get myself an i5 4690K with the leftover money. My current systems specs are an FX-8320 with a GTX 970 (triple monitor setup). A lot of you guys are quick to recommend CPU upgrades, however it does seem that the GPU is the limiting factor as it is always pushed to near 100% usage while each core of my CPU likes to remain under 50%. This would suggest that the 1080 is the correct option. However, from the TechPowerUp review of a 1080, it seems that the relative performance of my 970 is 55% which means that realistically the 1080 (albeit stock and reference) is only 1 percent better than a 980 Ti in real scenarios while being 50% more expensive. Can anyone offer their expert insight into the matter?
  5. Hey. So I've been looking around the GTX 1080 models and as usual there are versions stretching from about £550 to £700. My question is that is it really worth paying that much extra when money is an object? I can't seem to find any difference between a cheaper MSI Armour 980 Ti and an expensive Lightning Edition other than maybe a 7% performance increase. Is a ~20% price increase worth the 5-10% performance increase? Thanks folks.
  6. Hey. I have the money and I have the need; I wanna buy a GTX 1080. However, they're all on sold out pre-order so does anyone know when supplies will actually exist? Thanks.
  7. I have afterburner up on a monitor and the GPU usage is between 90 and 120% (overclock) during gaming so I'm pretty sure its the GPU thats holding the system back as my logic goes. CPU cores however are all below 50% (except #1 at like 60%).
  8. Yeah I checked all the cores, #1 averages a 40-60% whiles the others flick around a 30%, but I will be upgrading CPU when I can.
  9. Many flightsims like DCS World or Warthunder, as well as stuff like Skyrim and The Witcher etc, but I checked just now and overall CPU hovers around 20-35%.
  10. This, even though it rarely hits over 40% in the games I play?
  11. I was planning an i5 4690k, when I innocently believed that the 1080 wouldn't cost more in Europe.
  12. Heya folks. So I am making a GPU upgrade to my system very soon (within next few weeks or so). I currently run an FX-8320 with a GTX 970 which does me fairly well, but due to my triple 1080p monitor setup and my love of vsync (hate tearing in beautiful games) it doesn't quite cut the 60fps on a lot of games. I will upgrade to either the GTX 980 Ti that I'd buy used for about £420 (625 USD, yes its expensive for us Europeans), or a GTX 1080 for about £580 (850 USD) if I can round up the money. However, theres no way in hell I'm buying a FE 1080 so I was wondering if anyone knew how long the AIB models will take to come into stock (they're all pre-order). Furthermore, do y'all think its worth all that extra monies for a 1080 on a triple-1080p, or would a 980 Ti do fine? I know its an atrocious time to upgrade my GPU but I want to reward myself after my exam season ending soon. Thanks
