  1. I was just looking at another video from Linus. I could possibly go for the Intel 750 Series 800GB PCI-E SSD? Makes sense, removes necessity for cable management etc. And yeah, I almost expect it to become obsolete in 5 years to be honest. Considered the 5960X but thought there was little point, was also advised that performance vs price, it wouldn't be that much better than the 6700K ?
  2. Hello Forum! Let me start off with saying that I know very little. I've recently decided to make a new PC that is focused towards a black theme, with a colour scheme of components and LEDs that is NOT RED. Red won't work :). Blue & possibly a mixture of other colours would be most welcomed. Blue and orange..? I am not sure! I want the PC to be future proofed for 5 years and to use a well designed case. At this point I am considering Lian-Li PC 08. Or simply another well designed case, I want something that can be put into a living space and not look like a mere box with hardware. Following the layout aid I found stickied to the front of this forum I will try my best to answer the questions it suggested so that I can help you.. help me. 1. Budget & Location Location: UK (£). Budget: £2000-2600ish ($3700-4000ish). (Excluding monitor & Peripherals) Parts I think I've settled on: CPU: i7 6700K GPU: GTX 1080 x2 CPU COOLER: Some of the closed loop coolers like the Corsair H100i (or better, I have not looked at their newer models) or a more silent solution offered by coolers like BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. No other parts have been picked at this point in time. 2. Aim The objective of this machine will be primarily for gaming for the intensive tasks. I want to achieve a smooth 4k experience in mostly shooter games like Battlefield 4, or the upcoming Battlefield 1 as well as Star Citizen. I will occasionally play other games but I assume a machine that can provide a smooth experience to the above will handle them (modded games like Skyrim, Cities:Skylines). 3. Monitors At this time I am considering a single monitor and I don't think that will change. The monitor I have picked is the Acer Predator X34 Gaming Monitor. I like the idea of a single monitor over multiple. Immersion, how it looks like in a living space (open plan living room) etc. Also it would be tricky to afford 2-3 of these :)... 4. Peripherals Peripherals.. Yeah I will purchase some. I have not really decided upon this as of yet. I know I will want a Zowie mouse. As for the keyboard, I am unsure of this. I will want to purchase speakers that match with the stylish.. aura of the case (at this point the Lian Li PC-08 in my mind). Also a webcam, mouse mat.. pretty much everything. Price is not that big of a concern, I have saved up a lot of cash to make this sort of build 'happen'. 5. Why are you upgrading? I need a new rig. I did not future proof my last PC although it lasted me for 5 years so I am happy with it. I also require a great design consistency, LEDs & part picking to be at work, my last PC was just a bunch of well functioning components, thrown together by a friend, in a case that stood out of the limelight. I do apologize for the long post. I wish I knew more but seeing as I don't, I humbly submit myself to the expertise of this forum Let me know if I missed out anything, I am rather new to this sort of thing. Many thanks, Griz
