Well since we already have a large screen we were thinking just use that, we have a video switcher we can use and I have a reasonable idea of how we'd go about making some graphics

Yea this was also why we wanted to keep it at a low cost, about a tenner + a bit for food and drinks for a night out playing and watching people play video games with the potential to win a £50 steam voucher or whatever seems like a fair deal

yeah but the hookers should be placed in front of the computers/consoles acting like they're playing games while a pro dude actually plays the games behind the scenes and that's what the public will be watching in the screens

you uppity British wankers. I second the whole remote access with a laptop if only because it's nice and neat, that and smashing your face into a couple monitors can be uncomfortable at best, shockingly bad at worst

To be clear, is this for you to monitor from the driver seat? Or for a passenger to monitor? If it's the former, PC Plod will be deeply unimpressed, conviction for driving without due care and attention, level of unimpressed. If it is the latter then I wouldn't want a monitor between me and the airbag, though the passenger airbag can be deactivated in most cars. If it is to be monitored by a passenger I'd suggest a laptop remote desktopping into the PC in the boot, no monitors blocking your view of the road, easily discreetly packed away for when you nip in for a KFC. If you're planning to monitor it yourself as you're driving, don't, it will end in an awkard call to your insurance company at best.

Here's a video version of what you're about to read:

As of November 1, 2016, Vessel.com - the video platform that you've been using to get early access to videos from Linus Media Group and others - is gone.
There were many people who hated Vessel.com and everything it stood for.. so good for them, I guess..
BUT there has also been a surprisingly strong negative reaction to the site's acquisition and removal by Verizon Communications Inc with the main complaints being these:
    - I'll be stuck with no new LTT content for a week. BOOO!
    - I loved the exclusive member-only comments section. Don't make me go back to YouTube comments!
    - I HATE ads, but don't mind a monthly subscription fee if it means I can view the content I enjoy without them.
So.. since we've already got a 1 week buffer of content built up.. without further ado, I present to you, the LTT Floatplane Club - so named because even if it doesn't fly, we'd like to think it won't sink.. We.. will probably have to rename it at some point..
Anyway, the goal of the Floatplane Club is pretty straightforward. We want to deliver everything that was great about the Vessel experience and, given the time constraints, we want to do it as quickly and easily as possible.
So here's what we're offering today:
    - DRM-Free downloads for members at 360p and 720p
    - Ad free service - No pre-roll ads to suck up your bandwidth
    - Exclusive member-only comments section through the LinusTechTips.com forum
    - Early access - For now it'll be similar to the Vessel experience (1 week), but the window COULD change, and I can almost guarantee there will be more simultaneous releases for time-sensitive projects than before.
Beyond the initial offering, though I can't promise ALL of these will be available at the same membership level (High bitrate 4K video downloads that would CRUSH our current hosting setup come to mind), here are some things we are considering implementing LOVE to implement in the future:
    - A streaming video player
    - A sexier watch page
    - Realtime chat to make it fun to grab a bag of popcorn and chat with other Floatplane Club members while viewing the latest releases
    - 1080p and 4k videos
Linus Tech Tips doesn't take advantage of many community funding initiatives like Patreon, so PART of this move is about replacing the Vessel revenue stream that was so abruptly cut off so we can continue to meet our growth goals for the future - including the new writers we want to hire - but a BIGGER part of it is that it will allow us to FINALLY take control of the communication channel to our audience, allowing us to tell our viewers directly when there's a new video instead of publishing to YouTube and simply hoping it'll land in a subscriber box or two..
    So how do I join?
Great question! You join the club by buying a subscription for $3 USD per month at the link in the video description, which unlocks an early access sub-forum on linustechtips.com where we'll be posting download links to our videos at various resolutions until we come up with something more elegant.
We realize that this won't work as well for mobile users, and it doesn't have a slick UI like Vessel did.. but we wanted to get something together fast enough that none of our Vessel viewers would miss their daily fix, and this is what we've got for now.. with our promise to continue to improve it!

    I'm going for something like this;
Shoebox size ITX (DAN Cases A4-SFX is 7.2L)
    fits a full length GPU
    1 - 2 3.5" HDD's
    1 - 2 2.5" SSD's
    a 240 or JUST possibly a thin 360 watercooler
    Full Length GPU support
    4 x USB C 3.1 Type A at front panel
along with headphone/mic combo port at front
sleek, stylish, like the DAN Cases A4-SFX ( I might just get an A4-SFX and mod the front panel), preferably with a carry handle like the Lian-Li TU-100/200.

oliverguy reacted to kirashi in What features do you want on your cases?
So I'm a wee bit biased toward HTPC cases that only support mITX or mATX motherboards, simply because I'm not into hardcore overclocking which would require a larger case to accommodate 280mm radiators, or even 240mm radiators for that matter. It's just not me.
However, I do have some things I'm quite picky about:
Made of Aluminium, preferably non-brushed because that stuff stains Sizing no larger than a mid-tower, but ideally as space efficient as possible HARD DRIVE SUPPORT. Holy balls, I'm getting sick of cases that don't offer storage accessories. There's nothing wrong with lack of storage if you'd rather use the space for a large radiator or custom water cooling solution, or flat out just don't need the extra hard drive trays. But what is with these mid-tower cases that have 2x 3.5" drive bays and 2-3x 2.5" drive bays?
They're basically an inefficient design even if you throw a 280mm radiator up front, since often there's still room for mounting hard drives vertically or even horizontally to the left of the radiator between the motherboard and rad. I'm not saying these things need to be included with the base SKU, but the lack of mounting accessories for mid-tower and smaller cases is astonishing, especially since we've got all these custom watercooling parts now.

I guess I'm just one of those storage enthusiasts (https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/) who manages to cram twice the number of supported drives into cases using cardboard and 3M VHB tape. Fractal Design has got this figured out though, since they're one of the only manufacturers who seem to know how to make mid-tower and HTPC cases with room for copious amounts of hard drives.

a air 540 is perfect for me, so something
    roomy
    good cable management
good cooling support with aio and big air coolers
    SLI support
    lots of fan support
    well made
    simple design

FULL ATX support, HDMI passthrough to the front, brushed metal and/or tempered glass everywhere, support for water cooling, a basement that hides the PSU, HDD's (supoort for several 3.5" drives) and a hidden full 5.25" optical drive bay, so I have it when I need it but it's not in your face when you aren't using it, basically for reference, something along the line of the Inwin 904 Plus but with a brushed silver color metal like the original 904, but with full water cooling support and a proper basement.

Another reference is basically a bigger Enthoo Evolve mATX, that hides the optical drive at the back of the case, but support for ATX motherboards and watercooling while having the 5.25" bay occupied.

I'm a huge fan of very small ITX cases but for a full ATX build I like to see
clean 2.5" ssd brackets on display
2x 280mm watercooling brackets (top, front etc)
a 90 degree GPU tray for display
Stark, angular design is very popular , as are clean straight lines

The new Surface book with i7/16/512 should be around £2300, but if you know anyone who is a student it'll come down to around £2k. However, if you are content with the 940m graphics of the current generation it's available for £2024 with a free Xbox one S with FIFA and an extra controller which you could sell if you wanted to offset the cost. https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msuk/en_GB/pdp/Surface-Book/productID.332604800

I'd definitely take a look at Dell Outlet - there's some cracking deals on the XPS 15 and the Precision M5510 (the business version) at the moment, both of which have the InfinityEdge body (meaning it's the same size as a 14 inch laptop). I'd also consider the XPS 13 on there, and there's also a great deal on the Iris variant at the moment of the last gen of XPS 13

Razer has a very good return policy (1 year for systems I believe), you can also get a full cash refund if you refund within the first 12 days. You can't use soley the core as a computer, but you can disconnect the RBS from the core and use that instead. The largest throttle however would be CPU, so I would only suggest to get this system if you are going to put something in the range of a 1050(ti) in the core so that the CPU/GPU are near the same level.

They don't say anything in that specifically, but they do quote a very reliable report.
    http://www.ucsusa.org/sites/default/files/attach/2015/11/Cleaner-Cars-from-Cradle-to-Grave-full-report.pdf

It summarises that a large BEV, which the Tesla falls under, will on average produce less GG emissions despite increased manufacturing carbon cost. It estimates that on a 'dirty' power grid, the manufacturing costs will be offset within 39,000 miles. On a renewable power grid, the manufacturing costs will be offset within 16,000 miles. Those are very reasonable figures. Bear in mind that on average a BEV will drive 135,000 miles for the total lifetime of the vehicle, and the environmental friendliness of the vehicle becomes more apparent. Tesla should use that in its marketing.

This is the car of the future. Now only if all these legislators stop receiving money from carmakers, petroleum companies and such and start a high-speed metro link between cities, districts and actually compete with the flying industry then perhaps California wouldn't drought itself to death in 20 years.

Yeah, 20k a lot for what's really a marginal increase in range, dont think very many will be able to justify the extra cost for only a few extra miles, most journeys are under a 100 anyway so it probably isnt even relevant for a lot of people.
