  1. Hey all Im finding that with the amount of stuff im having to do at university (python programming, web dev etc) that i probably need a second monitor, at my uni almost everywhere has them and they might not be the best (one is 1080p and one i think is 720p) they are a life saver so i want to invest in one. Right now i have a BenQ Gl2460 60Hz 1080p monitor and would like to know 2 things: 1. Should i upgrade to a 1440p monitor and keep the 1080p one for my code and 1440p for games/videos? 2. Should i just buy another 1080p one? Are they still a valuable option now that 1440p and 4k monitors are getting that bit cheaper and are starting to become the norm? Also, some monitor recommendations are welcome EDIT: Ok so if i wanted to use 1440p you would probably need my specs right? i5 6500 GTX 1060 16GB RAM
  2. It is Sky Sky Q hub only a wall the way our house is designed we cant move it unless we want it disconnecting everytime someone phones us and the way my room is designed i dont have the room to move much As for this i have done that, there is a slight improvement but not enough to say its fixed, margin of error if anything
  3. Sorry my mistake, it is bits per second on my PC (using speedtest) and phone as far as i can see just says Mbps
  4. My data plan limits me to 2GB and there is no other Wi-Fi to connect to, i guess i could turn off when not needed
  5. My phone which is sitting very close to my PC gets a speed about 50Mbps but the actual PC itself gets about 2Mbps. The last router i had it was the otherway around, except the lowest was 30 instead of 2 Is this a router problem or a card problem?
  6. View Distance? Crowd Density? anything really CPU heavy try and avoid as much as possible
  7. Roll back to the previous version?
  8. So got a new router today. Right next to router i get 70Mbps, not bad for the 1st day but when i go upstairs im down to 5Mbps Last router we had was 50 all around the house, why is this, im guessing its because its the first day and they are still setting up? Or is it not like that
  9. Sorry for late reply, have you found a solution? Here is a video i found that might help you further
  10. Sounds like a dead CPU and maybe RAM as well. At least it isnt a motherboard issue. Have you tried only putting 1 RAM stick in when the i3 is in? If that doesnt work swap that ram stick with the other one and try again? If it still doesn't post then i think the CPU is dead
  11. Putting a rig for my friend together so i need to see if this will do for him. He is not a big AAA gamer and doesnt care about graphics. He wants cheap as possible but still able to output 1080p @ 60FPS Here is the rig any improvements/additions are welcome NOTE: He already has a Hard drive and an OS with peripherals so no need to include them https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rjWKtJ
  12. if you sell everything would say about $200. Not an expert though
  13. Stock cooler that comes with it is excellent, no need to waste money on a third party cooler.
  14. On games like Civ 6, I find that when I progress into the late game the frame dips from 60 to 40 max but spikes between 20 and 40, it is quite annoying. With ESO I could never hit 60 but I turned down graphic settings and I got it to hit it, but with still few drops down to the 30s which doesn't bother me as much since it is less frequent. I am hoping with a CPU upgrade it will eliminate this.
  15. Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB (factory overclocked not gone any further) 16GB RAM 2133Mhz (will upgrade to 3000Mhz for an extra £30 to total making it £70) Cooler Master 212 EVO EVGA SuperNOVA 550W 80+ Gold PSU
  16. So i worked out if i sell my current i5 6500 and Moboard with it i will only need to pay around £40 ($50) for a new Ryzen 5 1600 and moboard combo Is this worth it? I play a lot of games like Doom, ESO, Civ 6 and football manager to name a few
  17. Our current contract with BT has run its course and we are now switching to skys "super fast" fibre broadband. They say that we will get on average 57Mb p/sec (which on a good day was the max our old BT router could provide max) with speeds up to 80Mb. However, we want to make sure we optimize our internet speeds to its potential. Is there a way for all of our house to get those 80Mb speeds? I hear a range extender will do but im sure it cuts the speeds dramatically. Bridging does seem an option but i have no idea how that works, except for it uses 2 routers. If it helps the only place we can put it is either downstairs in the living room or in my old brothers bedroom which is next to mine.
  18. he already has a system, was pre-built so hardrive, OS, peripherals, and monitor are not needed
  19. Ok so my friend wants to build his first computer and he was on a budget of £500 ($650) and i put out this build for him: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/7XDQHN he is on a really tight budget and can not go over £500 and i couldn't get that for him so what can i do? I need peoples help Its a 1080p budget build, he doesnt really care about big triple As like GTA or Witcher so would it be best going for Ryzen 3 instead of 5? Any help would be great and the lower the better
