Ok ty I still have yet to buy a screen with it but I curebtly have a 1440x900 screen that I got for like 20 bucks don't think it will do to hot with it 
 

Unfortunately, I think the Phenom II x4 is about the highest chip that goes into that socket before you have to step up to an AM3+ (not 100% sure about backwards compatibility here). 
 
If I were you. I'd look into getting at least an older i5 (i5 4460 is what I'm running atm). They're not super cheap, around $180 USD last I checked. Which isn't too bad. You also have the option of going for a low-mid tier i5 Skylake for $20-$40 more than a Haswell i5. But you're going to pay significantly more for a decent motherboard than with an older Haswell chip. 
 
Going with something like a solid Haswell i5 chip and 1150 board, will also give you to the room to upgrade to a still pretty good i7 k sku down the road, especially if you make sure you get a mobo capable of overclocking now.

If you don't have a lot of money for an upgrade, I suggest getting a combo of $150 dollar graphics card (from the new generation) and $50 power supply.
 
Use only these models for the PSU though:
Corsair CX450M, CX550M (not the other CXMs)
XFX TS, TS Gold, XTR
Seasonic S12II, M12II
Rosewill Capstone
EVGA G2, GS, GQ, B2
 
At least one of those will be $50, hopefully

Just keep saving, upgrading your current system will make the new one take longer.

Now that I'm aware AM3+ is getting old, I suggest saving up for a new system.

The latest CPU for AM3+ is already pretty old. I would wait and get at least a new CPU + mobo combo. 

get a better psu,gpu and cpu/mobo. what's your budget?

You could also go the used route and look for a cheap LGA 1366 motherboard and a used Xeon E5640
 
You'll have to overclock it though.
