  1. I have a Legion Y720 wich includes a 1tb hdd, to my surprise steam games eat that drive like it was cookies and is geting full reall quick, i am thinking in buing an external hdd to keep al this games. My laptop has usb 3.0 and thunderbolt 3, when buying an external hdd my guess is that i dont need more than the usb 3.0 for bandwith since thunderbolt drives are really expensive. Should i care about external hhd thunderbolt or usb 3.0 is just fine? Wich one would you recomend? I guess one with ac power is better since it doesnt pulls energy out of the usb, and im not taking the drive almost never from my desk. Also 5400 rpm would be a bottleneck. In summary, i need an 7200 rpm usb3.0 external hdd...right? thinking that i dont have the money for thunderbolt 3 drives.
  2. I am in the procces of buying an intel Optane 32gb in order to accelerate my hdd, but in some tech webpages and e-commerce sites it apppears to exist an 64 gb version but couldnt find any information of it from the Intel website or any trust worty sources i know. Is it fake? only 16 and 32 gb versions exist? And if so 64gb version would be something to come out in the near future?
  3. I have an open m.2 slot in my Lenovo Y 720 laptop, the other slot is occupied by the default 1tb 5400 rpm hdd. I want my laptop by using that slot, i am between 2 options, using an Intel Optane 32 Gb wich would cost me around 75 us dollars or something like the GAMMIX S11-240GT-C wich is an nvme ssd reachable for my budget, wich would cost me around $100, my budget limit. In advantage to the Optane i dont have to migrate anything, since i already have many games and stuff in my hdd, and dont have the necessity to choose what goes to where. The memory would learn my habits and if they change the memory also does, not limiting certain programs installed on an ssd. The ssd its faster and bigger, but would have to move the OS, without the games, etc, etc. I ould have a faster boot time and the programs in the ssd, but everything else would have to go to already slow hdd. Not every program can be changed of location so easily. So i am inclining for the Optane option but still want to here opinions sicnce many people say that optane works really well and others say that is doesnt. Also i plan to change that hdd in the future for at least an 7200 rpm hdd, or even an sshd (although i dont know if that would be benefictial or even work with the Optane module) because i need the space but dont have the money for a 1 tb ssd.
  4. Well, if you do not recommend to clone partitions, is there a way to only transfer the os from a drive with an occupied space larger than the ssd? I mean, if i start installing all this games and then i have more data than my ssd can take, then i would like to only tranfer the os... is there a better way to do this? Or the old fashion way of taking all the data to an external drive, re installing OS in ssd, then reinstaling al games and stuff in the hdd?
  5. I have a Legion Y720, the version with only a 1tb hdd, however it has an empty space for an m.2 ssd. I want to download steam games and then in the future buy an ssd, my idea was to create a partition dedicated to those game files, since games are now heavy, and when I upgrade to the ssd only clone the partition that doesn't have the games, then boot to the clonated partition on the ssd, then eliminate the partition in the hdd to create a one partition drive for games, music, etc; leaving the ssd only with the os and other important programs like chrome, and not having to move anything from the games partition in the hdd. What do you think? is this a good way to do it ? Is it possible to do? Won't it cause any problems? Because up to where I know since the OS sees the partitions as individual drives I shouldn't have any problems in this process or having the need to move any files.
  6. The idea is to condense in one single unit all the fotos, music, videos, etc that are in the different family devices so that anyone can access them at any certain point. The family debate is to buy a normal Hard Drive that is like a 1000 us less or buy a NAS
  7. I am thinking in buying one of those (If I don't remember badly) western digital Domestic NAS for all family pictures videos movies etc. Here in Mexico one of 2 Terabytes cost more less 225 US. Is it worth it? Is it really useful for that ?
  8. Do you thing DVD readers are still relevant to have in a laptop ? Or better just to have a separate one ?
  9. I am thinking in this Laptop for my College / Electronics Engineering life, what do you think ? Good specs, life expectancy , easy to upgrade, selection of ports, etc. Also for a good gaming experience for leaving consol gaming.
  10. Yes, my top limit budget is like $50000 so if 4k monitors start going down in prices maybe i will finish with a 4k one Or maybe i wait another year and have some extra money to spare ...

  12. Hi, I am no expert in computers so i hope you can help me. I attached images of the parts. They are in spanish but there are the pictures and the name so there should be no problem (Google transleator if needed ) Is every component good and compatible with all the other parts ? If you want to know price in American Dollar just divide the price by 18. (The prices are in Mexican Pesos) (It will give you the aproximate price with the actual exchange rate ) And any other advice you could give me, thank you very much I know is a lot to ask but i would apreciate it a lot
