My two go to distros are Ubuntu w/ GNOME (Because I can't stand Unity), and CentOS. I have used Mint before, it was okay. I still need to give Arch a shot, I hear good things about it.
More than likely MS will try to tie your fingerprint to all the data they collect through Win 10 serving you personalized ads on whatever computer you log into. Seems to follow their new business model nicely anyway.

The CPSC has only issued the recall of the Note 7, there was another thread posted recently concerning an S7 Edge that did catch fire as well but that has been the only one reported that I have heard about.
The article lists that nearly 100 Note 7's have caused injury or damages in the U.S. alone.
The U.S. Government has officially recalled the Note 7 just weeks after the news broke of batteries catching fire.

No, not for most games you are right. However for games like Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 I was experiencing major hitching in the frame rates caused by 99% CPU usage to my 60% GPU usage. The 4460 is a good CPU, just a waste of money in hind sight for what I wanted out of it.
I am 100% the same about being good with photoshop and not as good with creative ideas. Normally I do a google search to see what other people came up with and it helps to give me a bit more direction/inspiration.
My two biggest mistakes were:
Buying a Gaming Laptop when I should have built a desktop.
Choosing a 4460 that I replaced mere months later with a 4790K because it was bottlenecking my 970
