Might be getting a new GPU soon B|

Thinking about maaaaybe a GTX 1080 or 1070 Ti, need some second opinions lol.

Hoping to get one for a decent price.

    what's your price range?

  2. AlTech

    AlTech

    VEGA 56 although personally I'm not currently looking to buy a new GPU right now and I might not be for a while.

  3. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    @shadowbyte Around £500-520 roughly

    Am thinking about an EVGA GTX 1080, I definitely want it to be either an EVGA GPU or ASUS GPU in particular :P

    shadowbyte

    the 1080 is a supersolid card, especially the Strix card just for the cooler alone

    since the 1070ti so close to the 1080 in price, I'd spring for the 1080, as it's faster when overclocked

  5. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    Yeah I was thinking about the ROG Strix 8GB one though it's about at £550-560~ ish.

    Are EVGA's ICX GPU's good for both performance and cooling? I saw one on PCPP at roughly £530 which I might consider

    AlTech

    And this is why AMD came to Intel for Radeon GPUs inside of Core i series H silicon :(.

  7. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    @AluminiumTech What? :P

    I feel like I said something wrong lol xD

  8. AlTech

    AlTech

    @Xiauj It's just that you and Shadowbyte ignored my suggestion of a competitive AMD product.

    The only serious problem with Radeon products is the lack of mind share.

    @AluminiumTech

    wat

    vega just doesn't make that much sense atm

    the only available cards are reference design, which run hot + loud. Plus, Vega draws a crazy amount of power in comparison to a 1080 for similar (but usually worse) performance, as NVIDIA sponsors most current titles.

    Definitely go with a 1080. At least in the U.S. you can almost always find them for around $500 flat, while a 1070 ti will run you $450~. The extra $50 for a 1080 is worth every penny (or pence in your case) xD

  11. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    @AluminiumTech Oh sorry buddy, didn't mean to intentionally ignore ya <3. I dunno, I would have gone for VEGA 64 which is also in the same price range but I've heard small bad things when it comes to certain games.

    I might have heard wrong but I dunno for sure and because the 1070 Ti is basically a 1080 which is pretty good.

    Also fun fact, I've never had an AMD GPU before xD Just need to eventually change my 650 Ti lol

    Also, question to all, a Ryzen 1600 won't bottleneck a 1070-Ti or 1080 right?

  13. PCGuy_5960

    PCGuy_5960

    I would recommend the 1080, because I don't like the 1070 Ti. (And because it doesn't cost a lot more than the 1070 Ti and it performs better) :P

  14. AlTech

    AlTech

    @Xiauj A 1600 shouldn't bottleneck really any GPU :P.

  15. Max_Settings

    Max_Settings

    No it shouldn't except maybe in 1080p if you are pulling some high FPS.

  16. PCGuy_5960

    PCGuy_5960

    @AluminiumTech Except for 2xTitan Xps or 1080 Tis at 1080p 240Hz. :P

    AlTech

    @PCGuy_5960 Actually, you should see KBL i5s. They're dying right now (see latest AdoredTV video).

    @Xiauj Right now, the 1600 and 1600X are doing considerably well for the price and unless you're doing super edge case 1080p 240fps or stuff like that then you'll be totally fine.

  19. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    @AluminiumTech Yeah I fully agree, that's why I went for a 1600, veryyyyyy good considerable priced CPU atm.

    Good to know it shouldn't hopefully bottleneck, hopefully.

    MEC-777

    Just go for a 1080. ;)

  21. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    Yeah that's what I'm hoping to try and go for, gonna try and maybe go for an EVGA One maybe ^_^

    One thing I did notice a little while ago was was that if I get an EVGA one, might have to also grab a DP>HDMI converter for myself :| (....my IPS monitors ain't got DP :() because EVGA loves having 3xDP/1xHDMI.

    A converter shouldn't hopefully cause issues but its a pain at the same time lol xD

    Question,

    Are EVGA's ICX GTX 1080s released yet? Some places are saying its not released and some are saying it is released...?

    And Question-2, are EVGA's ACX 3.0 GTX 1080s worth buying? Or are the ICX versions better?

  23. shadowbyte

    shadowbyte

    @Xiauj

    yes, the iCX cards are out

    the cards are pretty equivalent, but the iCX ones have individually controllable fans + a better backplate + some other stuffs

  24. PCGuy_5960

    PCGuy_5960

    I don't think you can buy ACX cards anymore. You can only buy iCX ones. ;) iCX cards have more thermal sensors and better VRM cooling

  25. Xiauj

    Xiauj

    @shadowbyte Hmm that's strange. Amazon UK for me says "its not released" and are charging about an extra £100 making it at around £630 GBP o.O Where as somewhere like Ebuyer/Scan on PCPartPicker (LINK) show it at £530-ish, and released.
