  1. Good afternoon (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone! I'm in the US looking at buying a GSM Unlocked Honor View 20. Honor's website does not have a United States store, but I've found the View 20 on Ebay that and the seller claims it will work on any GSM carrier in the US. Does anyone here have a View 20 in the US? I have Straight Talk and live in East Tennessee, and have had 0 problems with previously purchased GSM unlocked phones, but every one I have purchased was released in the US. I'll even take suggestions for other phones you guys have had and loved. Three notes: 1. I do not want an iPhone. 2. I do not like notches, I would buy a phone with bezels, such as the Galaxy S9, before I buy a notched phone. 3. I am currently using an HP Elite X3 with Windows 10 Mobile, but I do have experience with Android. Thanks!
  2. For anyone that still cares: Since Sharpkeys allows setting unrecognized keys, I'm going to try every single one. Annoyingly, a log out - log in cycle is required each time I try a key.
  3. Hello everyone! I got an advanced question today! Well, advanced as in I can't figure it out myself and no website I've visited had any helpful information. Background: I'm theming my desktop and such on my HP Omen gaming laptop to black and red to match the chassis of the laptop, and I'm trying to change the icons to red. I've already made custom icons for several of my most used apps, and I was able to change my desktop icons and the non-UWP taskbar icons to the ones I've made. Photos attached showing laptop chassis, desktop, and taskbar for visualization of why I want to do this. Problem: The UWP apps on my taskbar will not allow me to change the icons, meaning the custom icons clash with the UWP ones. (Especially the Facebook Messenger icon; it's freaking hideous) I've tried a few things, and none work. I opened "...AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar" and only the non-UWP apps show up. I've tried a couple other similar locations with no avail. I even tried going into the apps' data to change the icon by directly replacing the files, but Windows wouldn't let me paste, despite giving every single user Full Access in the security properties, and taking ownership of the folders as Admin. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
  4. I bought this one because my friend offered me a good price on my old one and I like the new chassis and keyboard (save for the home key being replaced). The 1050 ti does not really increase my raw FPS, but it does seem to stutter less.
  5. So I just upgraded from one HP Omen laptop from 2016 to one from 2017, and so far I love it. I went from a GTX 1050 to 1050 Ti, and from a 1TB HDD boot to a 128GB SSD boot with a 1TB HDD. The new keyboard is amazing. However, where the 2016 model had a "Home" key in the top right of the keyboard, HP has placed an "Omen" key that opens Omen command center. I don't use the Omen command center, so I uninstalled it. Now I'm trying to use Sharpkeys to rebind this key to "Home" but Sharpkeys does not recognize it when I press it. What do I need to try?
  6. I personally have a 15.6" HP Omen laptop with i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050 TI that I use for games and college work and I love it. The build quality is fantastic and I personally love the design. There's a GTX 1060 model available with 16GB RAM as well. I'm not on the UK site, but converting the price in US dollars to pounds, it comes out to about £1020 when configured with a GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, i7-7700HQ, and 120Hz GSYNC monitor. LINK to the configure page: http://store.hp.com/us/en/ConfigureView?catalogId=10051&langId=-1&storeId=10151&urlLangId=&catEntryId=1771651&quantity=1 Fits all criteria you gave, including a 128GB m.2 SSD, except the individually backlit keyboard, though it does have 2 different styles of lighting with one of, in my opinion, best looking laptop keyboards ever. As for warranty, I'm not sure, but I believe HP has a 1 year warranty. I bought mine refurbished to save about $200, and the refurbished ones only have a 90 day warranty. Other notes: On my GTX 1050 ti model, I can easily get 6+ hours of battery life when not gaming. When gaming, depending on the game and settings, 1 1/2 - 3 hours is not unreasonable. Though not as fast as a Samsung 960 evo SSD, the included SSD is still very fast, pulling over 1GB read and over 500MB write speeds.
  7. My older Omen with a 1050 ran the same games on the same settings at 60 FPS on battery no problems.
  8. HP Omen 15-CE015DX, and the one from which I upgraded was the HP Omen 15t-AX200.
  9. Tried the settings again to no solution, then uninstalled with no solution.
  10. I just upgraded to a new laptop and, on battery power, all of my games are limited to 30 FPS. This new laptop is a HP Omen 15-CE015DX and has an i7-7700HQ, 8GB RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti. I upgraded from a HP Omen 15t-AX200 with i7-7700HQ, 8GB RAM, and a GTX 1050. On my old laptop, after changing a few settings, I got my games to run at 60 FPS on battery. Upon doing these same modifications to my new laptop, 60 FPS is still not possible on battery. When plugged in, it runs 60 FPS with no stutter. List of things I've done: Geforce Experience > Battery Boost Off Uninstalled Geforce Experience Windows 10 Settings > Battery Saver Off Control Panel > Max Performance Battery Plan Nvidia Control Panel > Power Management Mode: Prefer High Performance Intel Graphics Settings > Maximum Performance & Disable Power Saving Technology Gaming Settings > Game Bar Off & Game DVR Off Tried turning off HP Coolsense Uninstalled Omen Command Center Uninstalling most of the junk included I changed a couple other things as well Is there anything I'm overlooking? I will update this list with things people suggest that I've tried, and will update if someone suggests something that works for future reference. UPDATE: I believe it is related to the 1050 ti, because upon changing the settings to use integrated graphics, the games would run at more than 30 FPS (but not 60, likely due to how weak integrated is compared to the 1050 ti). UPDATE 2: I reinstalled Geforce Experience and set Battery Boost to off. I then installed the newest drivers available (I set the update to clean install). Now my games are running at 60 FPS on battery with some weird stutter on battery that isn't present when plugged. I'll continue to experiment and update this post.
  11. I actually have a $500 budget but I have a friend interested in mine for $700.
  12. I have a hard $1200 budget for a laptop. I'm upgrading from an HP Omen 15.6" i7-7700hq GTX 1050 2GB with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD. I saw that HP is having a sale on Omen laptops and has a GTX 1060 6GB 16GB RAM with 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD and 17.3" 120hz FHD screen for $1199.99. Unfortunately, for some stupid reason, my state has started charging tax on online orders this year. I love HP's Omen line and would love to have a bigger screen with 120hz and GTX 1060 but my budget is very tightly limited to $1200. If someone has one of these gently used or knows of a place where I can get one, hmu.
  13. My absolute monitor dream list as of November 13, 2017, which I'll use to compare all monitors I'm considering to buy from now until I get most or all of these: 3840x2160 HDR10 144Hz 32-42 inches 3D capabilities (I love 3D despite lack of content: Sonic Generations + Dolphin can render in 3D) >20 ms input lag (at 60Hz, which GTX 1080ti should push at 4k, this should be unnoticeable unless coming from a lower one, again, I am not) >7 ms response time (at 144Hz a 6 ms response time should be unnoticeable unless coming from a lower one, which I am not) OLED (causes the ">7 ms response time" comment to be redundant, as OLED supposedly has a >1 ms response time due to the nature of the pixels) At least 2 HDMI ports, preferably 4 (obviously 2.0b or better by then) A good amount of curve, enough to make 178° viewing angles None of that "Smart TV" bull (completely unnecessary considering I'll have a PC and Xbox One X connected to it) Under $1000 price tag (hopefully by the end of 2020) Unlikely to have all of these together, especially considering how fast 3D is dying/has died, and how popular Smart TV junk is becoming. I think the main holdbacks are the OLED tech being expensive and the lack of ability to push 4k 144Hz through current cables (not to mention the hardware required to push that) Feel free to reply with your wishes.
  14. Hello all, I have Windows 98 SE installed in a VM on VMware Workstation 12 Pro (installed 98 for nostalgia, I actually have VMware for some Linux work) and I've been going through and installing old games that I played on Win 9x back in the day. I got around to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and installed it with no problems. However, when I go to open it, I get an error stating that it requires Dx 7.0 or later to run. I already had Dx 9.0c (the Dec 2006 release; the most recent available for 98) and assumed it was too new for the game. So I installed DX 7. Still got the error. I then tried DX 8 to no avail. DX 7.0a wouldn't let me install because it recognized the DX 8 install. I knew when I installed 98 SE in VMware that the gaming support wasn't too good but everything else has been relatively smooth sailing. What do I need to try? Thanks EDIT 1: Testing an extension and accidentally posted this with a bunch of "B" emojis.
  15. Unfortunately no, I bought it refurbished and it didn't come with it. Alright I'll check under the hood.
