  1. Ok so I was having the same problem that I think you were DaleM. My GPU usage was going crazy and MSI Afterburner looked like a kid with a crayon drawing lines, up down, up down. I was really frustrated, so i asked around, and i just bumped my nvidia driver to the previous version, and my gpu usage started to go back up high and stay higher constantly. Idk why the crap it works, but it did for me. Also, for all the people saying that BF1 requires beefy hardware. I can run it medium to high settings 60fps buttery smooth (now after doing that^) with an i3-6100 and a gtx 950.
  2. Ok so quick update. I just ran BF1 again, only difference between this time and the 20 other times i ran it is that GPU-Z was open. SOMEHOW i got 60+fps easily with only 1 or 2 hiccups, (which i can kind of expect with a 950). I dont understand it at all what so ever. Hopefully it will stay like this and not screw up any more. thanks to everyone for their contributions!!!
  3. I have tried running it dx12 and not dx12 and the problem occurs on both. What is the system restore thingy? Like windows system restore, Geforce? or someting else? I have 2gb Vram. I used to have the MSI OSD open with BF1, but now I cant get it to pop up, even once i click the hotkey for turning it on and to show it. I'm not familiar with GPU-Z. I just installed it, how do I run perfcap?
  4. Thank you for the advice, however, I reverted back a driver, and I did see some improvement, instead of dropping to like 10% usage it went to around 25%. It is still happening and usage is still crazy. Thank you though.
  5. Thanks to everyone that has responded so far. Really the only reason I am even considering upgrading my gpu is because of this.
  6. I just checked newegg, and i know that prices fluctuate and that all of this could be different in a week, but i could get a RX-480 8GB for around $250, compared to getting a 4GB model, for around $200. I feel like I would rather get double the vram for $40-50 bucks more. Is this true? Would the 8GB model last me quite a while longer than a 4GB? Thanks.
  7. Okay so to be honest, I am not DEAD set on getting a Nvidia gpu, honestly whatever is better is what i want. Firstly, I have a mini-itx case, so i cannot run sli or crossfire to upgrade in the future. Both of yall mentioned that a rx 480 would be better "down the road or later on". What exactly do you mean by that? Is is because of the 8gb of vram? or is it just better overall? Thanks
  8. Sorry to bother you again, but I know a place where I can a get a GTX 970 for $250. From looking at Newegg, that is a really good price. Is that card better than a 1060 6gb? Also for that price is that a good card even though it's a generation older? Thanks
  9. 1080p. Yea, your probably right, that I would tell myself that. Also, i was considering getting another monitor (1080p). Would the 1060 6gb be able to handle having a game on one monitor and then like chrome on another. Also, i notice you have a 1060 6gb yourself, how is the performance? I will probably binge watch youtube about comparisons with the 1060 and like everything about it, but are you pleased with it?
  10. so would you say that it is worth the $60 or so bucks to get the 6gb?
  11. Hello, I am considering upgrading my PC after Christmas, and I am not sure what to upgrade. I have a GTX 950 and an i3-6100. I really want to upgrade the 950 because I feel like that is the worse of the two, however, I know a CPU upgrade could be beneficial overall. For both, I plan on having a budget of around $200, so either a rx480 or GTX 1060 3gb, for graphics card, and a i5 6500 on the CPU side. I don't have a z170 Mobo, so I really don't need the 6600k. I was considering waiting on Zen, but I would have to get a new Mobo which would be around $100 (for a decent one I would assume.) If AMD releases a CPU comprable to the i5 6600k but around $160, do you think it would be worth getting a new Mobo and CPU? Or should I just stick with my Intel Board and get a better CPU. Back to GPUs, is the 1060 3gb a good card or is it worth it to get a 1060 6gb? Sorry for being such a long post, lots a questions. Thank you for all responses.
  12. I have tried with stock GPU speeds and get the same problem. Also, should I just go back one driver version or multiple. And also how do I go back a driver? Thank you so much
  13. Yea, when i bought the game I was concerned because of the minimum spec was i5. The only thing is that I played the game for 3-4 weeks fine with 60+fps, which is why I dont understand all of a sudden it deciedes to crap out on me. I did just overclock my gpu a while ago, and that was around when this bug occured. Does that have anything to do with this. Also my cpu usage is at 70% and never maxed out, which is also confusing.
  14. As I said in the first post, this happens from low to ultra graphics, which means that it is not that my graphics card cant handle it.
  15. Hello, So I have been playing Battlefield 1 for the past month now, and about 1 week ago I started to get terrible frames. I turned on MSI Afterburner, and I noticed the GPU Usage graph was going up down up down from 80% to 20% to 70% and just crazy basically. It would stay around 80% in game for 3-4 seconds, then drop to 15%, then go back up to 80%. Whenever I spiked down to 15%, my fps would be terrible. This occurs whether the setting are on low or ultra, and turning v-sync on or off doesnt change a thing. I have a GTX 950, so not the greatest, but before anyone says that it is simply because I have a bad graphics card, I was able to play this game on High settings and get 60fps easy about 2 weeks ago. I have my power management set to prefer maximum performance on control panel and nvidia control panel. While playing, the gpu stays around 63C. My CPU (I3-6100) stays at around 60-75% usage, so no bottleneck there. I have a 650W 80+ bronze PSU, along with 8GB ddr4 ram. I honestly have no idea why this happened and I am really frustrated that my GPU won't work. Thank you for any help you can give.
