No issue at all.  Don't listen to the "Try to keep it under XXc" nonsense.  Enthusiast baby their CPUs.  There are CPU's bouncing off their thermal limit in harsh environments all over the world running for years.  If you are not hitting the thermal limit, you are not hurting your CPU.

Neverender reacted to Diglio in Apple REFUSED to Fix our iMac Pro
I am part of an AASP company, and certified in all Apple Devices for repairs, and I want to start by saying that it is quite a nightmare to go through Repairs and get parts needed for repairs.

To start, just going through the process to get parts ordered takes forever. It doesn't matter if you know for certain which part is needed, you have to go through their troubleshooting guides which are both a nightmare in their wording, and send you in circles when it comes to testing.

Second, I have done a repair for the iMac pro recently (within the past 3 weeks) and was able to get a Logic Board, Screen and Power Supply without issue. Granted I am in NYC so it is possible they had a supplier close by. The repair process was a pain (as are most Apple Repairs) and the turn around time you have to do the repair is only 10 days. That means from the moment you receive the part, you have 10 days to install it, serialize it in the system and send the old part back for shipping. 10 days doesn't seem like a short amount of time, but when the part you ordered requires other parts that are broken to test, 10 days flies by.

Third, in my 5 years of doing Apple Repairs, I have never had them turn around and tell me they weren't able to receive the part and thus the repair would be decline. What most likely happened, and what I have seen in the past, is that the store had no certified employees for iMac Pro repairs, so none of them were able to order the needed parts. If that isn't the case, then you were straight up lied to. From the day the product is available for shipping, items are available for order (I have had this happen on multiple ocassions, including the day 1 release of the Mac Pro Trash Can video card recall).

Lastly, the parts you need to replace are a complete pain. With Apple's new Security in-place, and with High Sierra, getting everything to function properly blows. There are issues with screen brightness, drives not running at proper speeds, etc.. I wouldn't be surprised if you do get this thing repaired, that you won't have issues at a later date.

Hopefully you guys can find an AASP within a short drive of you to have the part(s) ordered and repaired. Granted, the repair cost for a screen, logic board and PSU are going to be pretty insane.

If you play a lot of games that are RAM intensive, the extra 2GB the 1050 Ti has over the 950 is good to have. You will also get a slight improvement in FPS.

Personally, I would look towards a 970 first and see if the pricing is close to the 1050 Ti. If so, get that.

I've heard mixed reviews between both the Razer and Steelseries headsets. Mostly positive. So I can't say you've made the right decision there. The only thing to do now is look at reviews of the Steelseries cans and see what others say about them. Form an opinion there. It also boils down to whether or not your Razers sounded bad to you enough for you to trade in.

Buying headsets is hard in general because one has to experience the sound before you know if it is right your your hearing. I have a Corsair HS60 headset and I think they sound is wonderful. But again, it depends on the person. I am sure there are other cans out there that sound better and possibly for a similar price.

As far as other brands go, if money is no object, I hear lots of stellar things about Sennheiser cans on the headset aspect, as well as phones in general.

Neverender got a reaction from NoRomanBatmansAllowed in GPU's on Ebay
I'm starting to notice more sellers listing some cards at lower prices, and letting the bidder pretty much decide the price. One example is the 1070 Ti. I'm seeing a couple at under $400 USD. Then again, there was still 5 or more days left in the auction.
Free Market doesn't really apply here. eBay is generally independent sellers doing what they want. What they SHOULD sell at and what they DO sell at are two completely different things. This is where "speaking with your wallet" comes into play. You don't like the prices? Don't buy it. Unfortunately, someone will, and as long as that's going to happen, the market plays itself out like that until that demand dies down.

To be fair, there's no card at that level worth that kind of money. It's either desperation or justification the reason why you are buying that card at that price.

You have to ask yourself two questions:
1 - Are you absolutely in need of a GPU now? (Meaning, is the current card you're using struggling or dead?)
2 - Is money no object to you? (There are people that would pay any price without doing any research or they must have a lot of cash.)

If the answer is yes to any of these, then the power to buy one is in your hands.

It's hard to go with something that's used. This is not just with computer parts, but anything that has some sort of moving parts or usage. That said, it's normal to be weary over buying used. You don't know what that card was used extensively (mining or not). Anyone can lie and say whatever they want to make what they are selling look great. It seems it's all about passing their problems off to someone else and making money doing it.

Skepticism aside, going used is probably the best way right now. The previous two generations of higher end GeForce cards still run well with many of today's games. They aren't the complete best, but in this market, it's better to tide yourself over with one of those for the time being, rather then spend a 200%+ markup on new cards. Maybe when the new cards come out, you can snipe one as soon as it is released in an e-tailer.

That was pretty much cleared up earlier.

PCI-e is either AHCI or NVMe, as far as I know.

My main thing was forgetting that the connectivity dedicated to the mobo is actually PCI-e. This is why I referred to SATA differently.

You're still wrong... The M.2 type drives can use either NVME via PCI-e or AHCI via SATA, depends on the motherboard spec, some can support both, while others only support SATA I believe... doesn't need a cord to the motherboard also, it's all done through the socket. I have just a SATA M.2 drive in my board at the moment as my motherboard doesn't support the NVME type that needs PCI-e lanes x4.

Neverender got a reaction from mikat in M.2 or SATA Boot Drive?
I guess I was referring to that. I'm thinking about M.2 not just as a format, but as something separate from the typical SSDs that we're used to. Typically, when people say SSD, the first thing you'd think of is one that looks like a notebook drive, connected via SATA cables.

To be honest, look through Steam and see what games appeal to you. That's how I was also able to find good prices on games I never knew Steam had in the store. Besides, what one person likes might not be what you're into. You'll eventually find a game or two that will give your PC a run for its money.
