  1. Good evening all, Currently in a bit of a bind. Just performed a clean install of Windows 10 on my MSI Prestige 15 Laptop (was having performance issues for unknown reasons). Now it is detecting no properly installed network adapter, and is not showing any available networks. Device does not have a Ethernet port I can use. Suggestions?
  2. Hey guys, So I recently purchased the MSI Prestige 15 4k laptop. With 16GB DDR4, an i7 CPU, 500GB SSD, and 1650 GPU, I would expect it to be blazing through menial tasks. But even with basic functions such as internet browsing and word processing, it seems sluggish at best, with continuous lagging and general unresponsiveness. I've had it less than two months, and this issue started up within the past two weeks. No new software to note, cleaned what bloatware there was from the system, fully updated everything, but the problem persists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would note, per task manager, usage in any given category never exceeds 50%.
  3. Hey guys, I'm selling my custom PC to a friend and started a windows reset a couple hours ago in order to clean it before transferring ownership. It's a fairly high end PC with solid performance, has a 1TB SSD and 2TB SSHD which are being wiped so that may contribute to the timeframe, but it appears to have been stuck at 9% for several hours now. Anyone able to share some guidance on how to proceed without causing it to throw a fit?
  4. Hey guys, So I currently have a high end desktop setup, but I am considering redoing my setup. i7 9700k, 16GB RAM 3200/14, 2TB M.2 SSD 970 EVO, 2TB SSHD, Godlike MOBO, Corsair 360mm AIO, Enthoo Evolv X Case, 850W PSU, and the cherry on top, an ASUS ROG Strix 2080TI. Peripherals are Corsair 95 Platinum Keyboard, Logitech 8502 Mouse, and ASUS 144HZ 1440p + G-Sync. Have a cheap Acer Spin 1 as my beater on-the-go laptop. Recently tried out an Alienware 17" R4... and I hated it, especially the display in comparison to what I am used to (also the QC was shit and the WiFi card came out of the socket after two days of stationary use in my room, which apparently is a common issue). However, I do miss the ability to do light gaming on the go (will leave FPS for home, but strategy such as Civilization is still my thing). My laptop needs to be replaced in the next six months or so. I can get a decent Lenovo Yoga 930 to fill the job as needed, but I am actually considering selling/trading the desktop and getting a Gigabyte Aero 15 (new version, with RtX 2070/2080 and 9750H, along with 1TB SSD/16GB RAM), while retaining my peripherals. The Aero does not have G-Sync, but it does have a gorgeous display and first class battery life, which should make it great for work and graphically easy games, and then connecting it to my home setup as the powerhouse for harder sessions. How much performance do I stand to lose? Obviously protable 2070/2080 vs desktop 2080TI is a drastic drop, but will it be significantly noticeable in regards to diminishing returns (current setup keeps everything at 144FPS on max settings without breaking a sweat, I would like to maintain 100FPS with medium settings at least)? Would you consider that a reasonable exchange, or should I stick with what I have now and just get the Lenovo for a laptop when needed? Thanks!
  5. Hey all, So I'm running a i7 9700k in a MEG ACE MOBO with a 360MM cORSAIR h150I AIO water cooler, case is a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X, GPU is ASUS ROG 2080TI. I've come across the issue lately that when playing Ghost Recon Wildlands, my GPU stars heating up scary fast and sits around 80-82C, and after abt 20 mins it crashes. Under light load/idle, it typically sits at 35-45C, and playing any other game I own maybe high 50s, never seen it go above 62C. I'm trying to find out what the cause of this issue is and how to fix it. It is running stock thermal paste right now, I will do an aftermarket repaste tomorrow and see if that helps at all, and also play with the fans (I added two to the case in addition to stock and rad). Has anyone else had this problem?
  6. Hello, Had a question on apple products. I'm currently a windows user, and have been for many years, with some dabbling in apple products. I have gotten rather irritated with windows and android as of late, and am considering making the switch. I have a 1TB SMSG 970 EVO M.2 SSD in my current PC, and am wondering if it would be able to be installed in an apple laptop to increase their lackluster storage. To that end, I hope you all might able to suggest what model and/or series to purchase that could accommodate an after market SSD.
  7. Hello, Is it worth selling whole, or better off selling part by part (presumably on here or ebay). If so, what would be a reasonable price? 8. Hey all, So had an odd problem today. Shut down my PC entirely (from the PSU) to do some work on it installing additional storage. Restarted and everything is working just fine, EXCEPT that my headset no longer provides audio output. It wasn't unplugged or touched at all during the process, and it is still recognized by the PC, and static is audible when plugging/unplugging the cable from it. Now it simply won't play any audio. Suggestions on what happened or how to fix it? It's a hyperx cloud alpha, for the record.
  9. Hi all, Working on configuring my first rig (i7 9700k, 2080 TI, 16 GB RAM) and need some guidance on OC. Trying to get the CPU to sit stable at 4.7-5.0ghz with RAM at 3200/14, and am wondering what the voltage configuration needs to look like in order to accomplish that. Thanks for the help!
  10. Hey all, So I recently built a new PC, and it is utilizing a MSI MEG Z390 ACE MOBO. I want to get MSI afterburner (or a similar tool) on this PC to work on optimization, but I don't really know how to go about doing so. Any suggestions?
  11. Yes, I understand acct recovery. Those are no longer my accounts. I took a break from gaming for almost two years, and during that time I let my younger brother switch those accounts to his email while I'm off half way around the world. I'm not exactly broke and dying for cash, so I have no desire to take it back from him.
  12. Alright, will open it back up today to confirm.
  13. Hey all, So I have an Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X and my MOBO is a MSI Meg Z390 ACE. I believe I have it wired up correctly, and everything else works perfectly. However the power button on the case is not functioning, and I am having to turn it on manually using the button on the MOBO any time it turns off. For the moment I just have it set to never power off until I can fix it so I don't have to open the case every time I want to access it. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks for the feedback.
  14. No longer have access to those old accounts.
  15. Not particularly, just love those titles and miss playing them.
  16. Hello all, So first time building and I am utterly lost with the internal wiring. I have my MOBO and related components full set up, but the cables for the PSU/Case/AIO/MOBO have outsmarted me. Anyone have suggestions for where to look for a good reference material? The instruction manual was not very beneficial as it showed isolated setup w/o relation to mobo. For reference, I have a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X Case, EVGA G2 850W Gold Standard PSU, MSI Meg Z390 ACE MOBO, Corsair H150i 360mm RGB AIO, and ASUS ROG STRIX OC 2080 TI. Appreciate all input.
  17. No, using the MSI FROZR Shield, so it affects the number of thermal pads being used.
  18. Hey guys, Need some quick, dumb help. Trying to properly install my m.2 on the mobo, and wanted to ask if the 970 evo is a single or double sided SSD, as i honestly have no idea. Thanks!
  19. Hey all, Had some questions on game servers in 2019. So I just built my new PC, and all have a new Steam and EA acct. Is it worth re-buying some of the old favorites (B02, MW3, Mass Effect Series, Titanfall 1&2, BF3 & 4 for example), or have the servers died down too much to be worth it?
  20. Hello all, Just a quick question. I already have windows 10 on my laptop (it also has tablet mode if that makes any difference), can I use that license to get it on my new PC build, or do I need to buy another license for that? Thanks all
  21. Warm room and like $5 a month, what's not to love.
  22. Hey all, So my current housing situation comes with all utilities paid, notably electricity. I have an i7-9700k, 2080 TI, 1TB M.2 SSD, 16GB RAM, 850W PSU. Given it would cost me nothing to do so, I have been thinking about using my computer for mining as a side project. As such, what is the best coin option (in your opinion) for me to mine as of January 2019? Thanks all.
  23. Hey guys, So I have the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X for the new build I'm working on, and have a question about dust filters. So the bottom already has one pre-installed for the PSU intake, but if I am looking at it right, there aren't any for the top/front/back fans. I'm using 4 140mm (stock) fans, with three in front and 1 in back, as my intake, and using my 360mm rad on top for outflow. Any idea where to get the proper dust covers for this build, or if I even need to? Thanks all
  24. Hello all, Does anyone know what model fans the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X uses? I would like to purchase additional fans, preferably the same type for sake of standardized appearance. Should I stick with the stock fans, or just replace them altogether? Need a total of 4 140mm fans, in addition to my 360mm rad. If I were to replace them all, what 140mm models are considered best for a balance between a quiet system and good cooling?
  25. Hello all, So building my first PC. Boot drive is a Samsung - 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive. How do I get windows on the drive in preparation of booting up? Sorry for the retarded question, but I have no experience with this whatsoever.
