  1. I'll give that a shot Ty. I know I have an anker dp cable somewhere, but where...
  2. 7900xtx. When I plug into other ports the red drops to somethingx760. And won't give me other options.
  3. Built a new amd desktop and my ultra wide monitor isn't displaying any resolutions past 1080p 60hz. All drivers are updated and monitor firmware was updated also. Using dp cable that came with the monitor. Any ideas? Tried reinstalling but that doesn't change anything. Edit, it's a Samsung oddysey g8 on an amd 7900XTX if that makes a difference.
  4. Thank you very much. I'll check the fans and see how many fan headers I have. Tyty.
  5. Building my first desktop in ages. Last one was a 733mhz single core for comparison. My questions are, Can I split one pwm into 4x120 fans by using y splitters and expect good control? Is there a difference in windows versions (pro etc) that would make a difference for me doing audio book recording, cad and gaming? And can I plug one corsair comannder into another with the usb plug? Built in a corsair 1000d (couldn't pass it up for the price. Hence the fan question. Trying for quiet cooling with many fans. Have 2 layers of 3x140mm for top rad, 8x120mm noctua chromax front and 2x140mm rear. Case came with a corsair commander as did the aio. Any help welcome.
  6. Just bought a lenovo y740 9th gen i7 rtx2070 max q with a 144hz 1080p hdr screen for work/gaming and hdr video plays beautifully (although it destroys my mobile hotspot limit) but I can't get it to play things like the latest few tomb raiders and assassin's creed games with hdr on. I've noticed in the HD settings that the screen is hdr capable for video but not games or wcg apps whatever tf wcg apps are. Is there a way to hack this or am I missing a setting? Laptop was marketed as hdr ready. Did I get duped or am I just missing something? Go easy on me. My last "nice" rig ran at a whopping 733Mhz CPU single core. Ty for any help.
  7. Don't have another phone to try it with. My contract with Verizon is up in a month so I might go with 't mobile's unlimited hotspot but we'll see. I was hoping it was something simple in my settings. I'm going to try giving Verizon a call in a few days about it again also.
  8. I get a text every month at the end of my 15gb that says I'm throttled to 600kbps. Verizon says it's my signal but it doesn't seem to matter where I'm located, be it downtown San Francisco or the middle of Oregon.
  9. Took a min to load. Started at 1.5mb up and down and within a second throttled to the result speed. My google drive is maxed out at 60kbps when I tried that too.
  10. I'm using my note 8 Samsung as a mobile hotspot. Blew through my allotted 15gb like it was tissue paper updating steam. I'm now limited to a supposed 600KBps which I'd be OK with but I'm pulling 60 tops. Task manager says I'm pulling between 800kbps and 1.5mbps and resource monitor says nothing is using the network save steam and some other base programs that are pulling in bits per second up to 3kbps. Machine I'm running is a week old lenovo y740, hex core 2070 max q 8gb vram with 16gb ram. Running nothing but steam and icue to make the fancy schmancy LEDs go woop woop. I can live without steam but downloading large solidworks files for work is going to be a pain. Anyone have any ideas pretty please? Edit: my lenovo y700 has the same problem when I switch over to that laptop. Near identical speeds.
  11. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Felenari/saved/FLRCLk Build so far. Not committed to ram or hdd. I know I want a 2080 or 2070 but not sure on brand.
  12. I'm in training to be a firearms engineer for competition firearms. Each assembly will be between 200 and 500 unique pieces. If the cooler butts up against the door of the case I can mod the door for a higher clearance. I have access to a full metal shop with the exception of a lathe and mill. I'm definitely going air cooled rather than liquid though. I'm currently a TAB engineer by trade so I can add extra airflow fairly easily.
  13. Doesn't have to be a small case either. I have 12x36x24 set aside space wise.
  14. I'm planning on a 2060 to 2080 if I can afford it. I'm hoping to add a proper cad gpu down the line but it's out of my budget atm. Definitely using a full size card. Would like raid capability for redundant spinning drives for my media and dual ssd also. My total budget is around 1500$ or so.
