Hey there, I have a problem, when rendering a small project on premiere pro my entire screen goes balck and goes back to normal leaving an error message about my graphics card. I have an RX 480 8gb paired with an i7 6700k OC 4.5GHZ with 3000mhz 32gb ram. I have installed all the latest drivers and stuff. The mad thing is that It never done this before. In fact, I started this project in this exact computer. What's up? My last resort would be reinstalling windows but that would take forever and a lot of effort. Many thanks! xxx

Dont get a chromebook, you might as well build your own PC for $300. You can build a fast computer with that budget as long as your not gaming or editing. Also, building a PC would give you a pathway for an upgrade in the future. I suggest getting a Pentium, i3 or and Athlon CPU with at least 8GB of RAM and 1TB of HDD (If you need it) along with a 120GB SSD, a cheap motherboard and with a reliable powersupply. BOOM! YOU HAVE A BEAST OF AN EVERYDAY PC!! No need for a graphics card and you can buy Windows cheap from Amazon or Kingwin or you can just install linux on it for free.

Content creators can make 4K become standard. As it would convince people to upgrade their existing displays, in which would cause companies to lower their prices down due to competitors.

Exactly! But why can the publishers just start to release 4k, I know its more expensive but if they did implement it then 4k would become more mainstream and 4k TVs and other devices would get cheaper. right? If the publishers keep releasing content in 1080p then mainstream people wont bother upgrading and tech companies would keep high prices on 4k tvs. The content has the most power of pushing 4K to the mainstream.

It's 2017 now and 4K TVs and some computers are becoming more affordable and mainstream especially 4K TVs. I don't understand why new music videos getting released in 2017 are still being published on YouTube / VEVO in 1080p! Yes 1080p looks good on 4K TVs but 4K looked wayyy better! Implementing 4k on music videos and other content mainstream on YouTube would speed up the the process of 4K becoming the standard. what is stopping the music industry and Hollywood in general of publishing 4K content?

How about the 4GB RX 480?

The first one with the GTX 1050Ti but change the cooler of the cpu to the Hyper 212. I wouldn't recommend getting a 750Ti at this age as more and more games are going to want more.

I found a GTX 970 on ebay and its cheaper than a new RX 480 8GB Which one of those cards would be better for the money in terms of frame rates, game and driver support, and longevity? Does the VRAM matter? The 970 is 4GB (3.5GB) while the RX 480 has a huge 8GB! Also, which one of those can overclock the most? Should I get a graphics card now then and save up for a good laptop for uni? As for now a laptop would only benefit me when i want to do work on my bed. I can probably cope with with 2006 computers in school The RX 480 8gb would probably be a good buy as its cheaper than the 1060 and i can even do a crossfire in the future when I have money to spend lol

Thank you all for replying! Based on what you all are saying, I have another idea. Basically, forget the switch that thing can wait, its true that my computer science course in university may require a higher spec laptop. As i would start university this September, i have plenty of time to save up for a high spec laptop for uni thus I also have time to spend money for a graphics card for the meantime. As alot of you guys are saying that the 470 can handle 1080p max, im actually considering that now. (was underestimating the 470). would it be a good idea to spend for the graphics card now and save for a good laptop throughout the year?
