Hello there! Thanks for being a Synergy customer. Great setup by the way. This is a feature request that we do plan to implement in the future, but as a workaround, @corrado33's ideas could help to fill in the gap until we get it implemented. By the way, we do have Discord/Slack and forums where you can discuss Synergy feature ideas. If there's anything at all we can do to help, please do get in touch with us.

Synergy is great if you have a use case for it. Synergy 2 was plagued with a release that was far too early and I believe they have since retracted it and it is in development again. As for alternatives I haven't personally looked into any, but I do recommend Synergy 1.

I use a macbook pro and a desktop a lot and want to use my keyboard and mouse on both. Should I spend the $30 on synergy? Is there an alternative I can do for cheaper or works better?

Hello,  I am a longtime user of synergy1.0 across linux/windows systems, and early adopter to synergy 2.0

I use synergy for currently to share across 5-6 screens (sometimes a laptop is off, or not in the office thus not in the loop).

I am posting here after seeing the thread posted in the symless slack channel.  I am an avid viewer of the LTS YT channel, but am not a part of this forums and did not comment earlier in the thread because I had no presence on the forum.

When I am gaming for 'high twitch' reaction gaming such as Nioh.  I connect my m/k to the gaming system.   When I'm doing office work, or playing 3 copies of FFXI across my systems, one character is simple bank char for my guild.  Yes I'm addicted to that game, but I'm using synergy2.0 without issues.

I've had some issues w/ other games that take fullscreen or read raw mouse data, in this case if you are gaming on that system why aren't your controls connected there, with wires, directly to the system for the intended input.  Latency over my switch may be 5ms and up to 100ms on wifi'd systems which is terrible I don't trust wireless m/k.

I would not call any of the issues I've experienced with the Synergy2.0 to be "terrible" or "unusable", maybe 'mildly uncomfortable for a short period'.   I've used it every day for the last year, with it working 98% of the time.  You can check my 4 posts on the symless forums about issues I've had the issues addressed in about 24 hours.

To be honest, Nick.  You sound kind of condescending.  Yes, you are being polite, but at the same time it feels like you are rolling your eyes.  I've been a long time user of your product.  Used this product at several jobs.  Never have I seen the CEO so involved in answering it's users.  Which is nice, but could you please quit with the sarcasm in your responses.  For some reason it just rubs me the wrong way.

Also I agree, if I paid to have votes so I could push my issue to the top.  It should of been honored as it was said.  Just because it was a "lower" priority issue, it should of at least gotten recognition as part of your sprint.  At least one of them.  Not just shoved in the backlog.  That's one way to piss off your users and make dissatisfied customers that can't stand your product and refuse to come back when you do finally get around to "fixing" it.  That's basically scamming ("Here, I'll do this, if you give me money.  *throws wallet at Nick*  "Oh, thanks for the money, we won't be fixing your issue cause it's been deemed as a low priority, SORRY!").  Promising something then never delivering is really shady and distrusting.

I think that it is awesome to see Nick out here answering questions and working with everyone on this forum when some are so easy to criticize. It appears Symless is working hard to make Synergy the solution you all seem to want.  To see a CEO answering tech questions to every day users is not common and I think says a lot about the company and where they are trying to head. I look forward to Synergy 2 getting out of beta and all the great features it will allow us to use in our every day lives.

Thanks for being the only one replying.

Yeah this suggestion would work, just maybe not for my situation.

I need to use the mac for things like Pro Tools, in which case I guess I actually need a separate interface. The onboard sound card is definitely not enough to handle pro audio...
    Thank you anyway though!

    Hello all!

So here's what I need to do.
I only have one desk here. This single desk has two monitors on it. It's my gaming/streaming setup, with a Windows PC.
Then, I also have a Mac Pro that I will use for music stuff.
I intend on using the same keyboard and mouse, and the same two monitors for both machines.
This part is sorted, since both monitors have more than one input, I just need to switch when using either machine, and install Synergy on both, right?

    BUT

I use an M-Audio M-Track 2X2 connected to the PC via USB, and that's where all my PC audio sources go through to get to my headphones.
So now I need a way to get the Mac to also send audio through the same mixer.
It has two channels, and since only the first one is being used by my microphone, I could use the second channel to bring audio from the Mac in...
But I don't think it'll be great to use the internal mac audio for Pro Tools and such.

Do I need a new interface to do this? And then to prevent having to unplug the headphones from one interface to the other, I could run an output from the one hooked up to the mac, into this one?

    HELP.

Hi there, thanks for tagging us. Microsoft released an API update that broke the file drag and drop feature (however, it still works from macOS to macOS). We have been trying to fix this, but it's taking longer than we expected. We are planning to remove the feature advertisement from our website since the fix could be a few months away. We really appreciate that this is really frustrating, especially if you bought the product for that particular feature. Normally we only issue refunds within 30 days of purchase, but in this instance, we are certainly happy to give you a refund if your purchase was more than 30 days ago. Would you mind contacting us so we can issue your refund? Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. We really appreciate the time you have taken to share your experience with Synergy 2 Beta. We decided to take this version back to beta and make Synergy 1 the recommended stable version.

With the recent organizational changes, we realized that we needed a fresh start. Synergy 2.0 Beta does not have the potential we thought it would have, so it will be replaced by a new design. We're pleased to announce that an early alpha for the next major version of Synergy will be available late 2019. All Synergy 2 license holders, early access customers, and lifetime access members (pre-Nov 2017) will have free access to the next version. We'll be maintaining Synergy 1 until the next version is ready for public release in two to three years time.

The next major version of Synergy is currently in development and aims to address the issues mentioned in this thread by greatly improving stability, adding significant configurability, and by having a total UX/UI redesign (we're actually using a completely different technology stack). Rest assured, this new version will look and feel nothing like Synergy 2 Beta, and it'll have all the best bits from Synergy 1. We have learned a lot of very important lessons from Synergy 2 Beta, and this will help us to not repeat the mistakes in the next version.

Thanks to all those who stuck with us so far, we really appreciate the support.

For the record, the synergy support was great when I e-mailed them, we just could never come to a solution unfortunately. And honestly I really do WANT it to work. Synergy seems to be the best network mouse sharing program, it's just that I don't feel like having to switch out my gaming mouse for a crappy one in order to get it to work. I really am rooting for you guys, because I do want to use your program in the future, it's just that right now, I can't. I really do hope you get the bugs worked out in the next version because I will gladly pay money if it works.

I'd like to clarify our side here.

What was said in the email that we sent over earlier today was that we are putting our current sponsorship plans with Synergy on hold until the issues that have been brought up by our community are resolved.

We still believe in the product and what the company is doing, but a recent wave of feedback from the community has shown that there are some rough spots with Synergy 2 that need to be ironed out. As such, and as a business that serves a significant community with recommendations based on the trust that that community places in us, the only appropriate action is to hold off on promoting Synergy 2 until it is in a state that is satisfactory to our community.

This decision is NOT solely a result of this single thread. It is a result of multiple dedicated threads created on this forum, multiple comments in threads on this forum and on our videos, multiple direct messages received by members of our team on this forum, and multiple emails sent to both public-facing and private email addresses for our team.

So, to be explicitly clear... This is not the end of Linus Tech Tips working with Symless and Synergy. It is a temporary hold on any promotion until issues with the new software have been resolved to the satisfaction of our community.
