  1. I said if new. I was looking at current prices from what I saw. I do admit not all prices were from the same source but the motherboard alone was $700ish new from what I saw. I could go gather my sources, most of it was found on PC parts picker. I wasn't saying it was $3200 used.
  2. So not likely the original owner did any mining on this PC? I didn't think so either.
  3. see, that's possible but a bit weird they'd not toss it in and cause it more damage. it has slight bending at the top of the case which i think may be why the top USB ports on the motherboard are not aligned with IO shield. something i will likely need to disassemble to fix., there is also a scratch across the back panel. So if it was a mad GF I think there would be more damage. I think it is possible that maybe the guy was a soldier and got killed and family didn't know how to fix the slight issues so they threw it away not knowing what they had or maybe the guy was evicted and cleaners were hired to clean out his place and one of them might have known what it was so they set it in the empty dumpster to act like it was worthless to the owner and so he wouldn't get in trouble with his boss and then later go back and get it but it's all speculation. I do know the original owners name and the apartments the dumpster was at but when i looked on Fackbook I didn't find anyone in my town with the name but it may be that they didn't fill in that info so FB wouldn't know.
  4. Would it still be possible to recover bitcoins from it if it had them on it even after i reinstalled windows when i initially got it?
  5. Well I was wondering if this capture card can capture from an xbox, I would probably need the program to use it though. Not sure if i'd have to buy it cause i've not looked into that yet and i had to wipe and reinstall windows to fix some small issues when i got it.
  6. question is, Am I wasting it by not using it to it's fullest potential and getting into content creation.
  7. I could take a pic of one of my father's work shirts. To show he works for a trash disposal company but it is a local one so people might find out too much personal info from it. Also I looked up the parts and lowballing on parts i didn't know I roughly estimate it to be worth $3200 new. that's low balling a few pieces.
  8. I already know what they are worth. I am not that dumb. I was surprised someone threw away such an expensive computer when it works. I admit there were a couple issues to fix but nothing someone couldn't do with a little looking into.
  9. So my father found a PC in an empty dumpster on the job and this PC works mostly fine but sometimes it has minor issues here and there like my mouse shutting off and turning back on or other weird bugs. saving pictures takes a tad bit longer to open and save sometimes. I'm not sure what to do with this. I feel like it was built for content creation but that's not something I really do, though I could get into it at some point. Would just need to know how to use some programs and figure out how to use this capture card. Specs. CPU: intel i7 5960x CPU cooler: corsair something (hard to identify for me) MoBo: asus x99-e ws GPU: EVGA GTX 980 storage: Asus Raidr, WD 2tb (not sure what color, didn't remove it to look) Ram: 32g (unsure what brand and speeds. the cooler on it says RED on one part and V E on the other and the whole ram cooler is red in color) power supply: Corsair AX1200i OS: Win 7 ultimate Capture card: AVermedia Live Gamer HD I fixed most issues I had with it and it runs smoothly for the most part now.
  10. I'll try but i thought i had already set everything to defaults when i originally started it up cause the overclock wasn't working
  11. Oh, it's definitely not dead, I have the OS on it. it does boot but sometimes instead of booting into the OS right away it boots into the bios and i have to select the drive in the boot override section of the bios.
  12. My guess is dude either got evicted and people cleaning out the place didn't know what they had or maybe dude was over seas or killed in the military and family didn't know what they had either, When i first booted it on it went to the american megatrends screen because the overclock wasn't right. I simply set it back to defaults but then i had the boot drive issue. I can get it to boot into win 7 with that little finagling but I wanted to see if anyone knew how to get it to just do it without me having to finagling.
  13. if i posted this in the wrong forum section let me know so I can move it myself thank you.
  14. So my father found a PC in an empty dumpster on the job and this PC works mostly fine but sometimes it doesn't see the PCI-E Raidr SSD. When i go into the bios it doesn't show on the boot order to select unless i go into the boot override list. Specs. CPU: intel i7 5960x CPU cooler: corsair something (hard to identify for me) MoBo: asus x99-e ws GPU: EVGA GTX 980 storage: Asus Raidr, WD 2tb (not sure what color, didn't remove it to look) Ram: 32g (unsure what brand and speeds. the cooler on it says RED on one part and V E on the other and the whole ram cooler is red in color) power supply: Corsair AX1200i OS: Win 7 ultimate I think this has a capture card as well, Was thinking maybe swapping the slots of the SSD and the capture card might fix my issue or if maybe it is a bios issue.
  15. maybe we can get LTT to do a better comparison list. he does ask for ways to make it bettter also i think someone points out the xeon thing in the comments he replies to
