  1. In my neck of the Woods, to get a roll of color processed is around $3. I only get the negatives developed and don't get any prints done. Black and white I develope myself in my bath room. Most of the gear you can get fairly cheap online. I then use a scanner to get my negatives on my computer. From there, I'm able to edit the photos in Lightroom and print what I want myself.
  2. @Williamchan87 I'll keep an eye out for a X-T1. Happy shooting!
  3. @Williamchan87 I have an M6 and a M3 also. Love those cameras. I wonder if I've seen you roaming the streets of Vancouver, doing street photography? Its a small world, so there is a good chance that I have! There is a local Vancouver photographer that shoots mainly mirrorless (fuji), "Bigheadtaco" is his name and he shoots mainly street photography. He has a nice set of work.
  4. I mainly use a Fuji X100T, But I have also use a D610 if I need something beefier or more versatile. What do you shoot?
  5. The Camera Store has a few of these videos which I find pretty funny (being a photography nerd). Most probably won't appreciate the humor, but for those photography gearheads, this may be up your alley... 7. I love shooting film (35mm and Medium Format). If you can afford to shoot film, it can be pretty rewarding. And if you have clean negatives and a good scanner, the photos can be as clean as digital files. I wouldn't classify all film photos as "vintage" as that is a style and style is really about composition, and how you develop the film. I think you should try a roll or two! Shoot what you would normally shoot. Maybe by shooting film, you will have a different perspective.
  8. Gopro Hero 4 Silver has an LCD screen the Black version doesn't. The LCD back is an extra $80 in Canada... So if you need 4K go Black. If you need/want the LCD screen go Silver. I have the Black and just use my phone and Gopro App if I need a screen for composing shot.
  9. There is the new sigma 18-35 which looks fairly nice.
  10. Great flask!! I like the shot and wouldn't mind owing one. 8/10 "Blue Streak"
  11. I've just started using Sony vegas pro edit. I find it very easy to use with little experience. There are video tutorials on Sony's website.
  12. I know that it was just taken with your phone, but there is a lot you could have done differently. It looks like you may have taken the picture through a window as there appears to be reflections. If you have to take the photo from inside a building, try to eliminate the reflections by changing the angle of the shot or making sure the lights in the room are off. I think the main subject of your photo is the tree. That said, you have a lot going on in the photo that takes away from the tree (buildings, bushes, fence, other trees, reflection in window). Try to put more focus on your subject. Maybe go outside and get closer to the tree? Or get on the roof and shoot down on tree for a different perspective. And while your only camera is your phone, make the best of what you have. There may be apps that may help you create amazing images. Some cell phone shots of mine: 1. 2. 3. 4. My photo for this thread.... 2 of my favorite things: Leica M3, 50mm 1.5, Portra 400 (I think...)
  13. Clash of clans.... It's an easy time sink and I get to play it with friends...
  14. @Phage I'm really liking your series of photos. I really like the color in this shot 9/10. Another film submission: Leica M3, 50mm, Tri-x
  15. As the guy is Canadian, they can't deny him entry. But since, according to the officer, he prevented the officer from doing his job, the guy was charged with obstruction/hindering. I think its similar to failing to blow into a breathalyzer test during a road side stop by the police. If you refuse to blow in to the test, the police can charge you as you are preventing them from doing their job. That said... the officer in this case may have to prove that it was vital for him to have access to the phone in order to properly conduct his duties. If he can't show that it was vital, then the hindering/obstruction charge may not stand.
  16. My understanding of this situation (and according to the article).... When someone seeks entry into a country, the standard of privacy for that person is less than if they were within the country. This allows the law enforcement agency greater powers to protect the border/country. I think there was case law where the judge stated that for a Country to be sovereign, they needed to be able to effectively protect their borders, hence the lower privacy standards. I think that's why border officers have greater powers of search while police need warrants to search your personal belongings or person. I think border officers can even strip search a person without a warrant as long as there are enough grounds for the search. I would think that police would need a warrant? @MoonSpot By going through Customs/Immigration he had technically already entered the country. There is no "no man's land" as I think that would create a jurisdictional problem... And as a law enforcement agency that deals with the international smuggling of narcotics (among other things), I would think that they would be interested in any data relating to that kind of thing... It will be interesting to see how this plays out as the balance between Freedom and Security is being tested...
  17. I just started using Sony Vegas Pro. I'm finding it fairly easy to use, especially with the available tutorials online. If you sign up for the Sony Creative emails/Newsletters, they sometimes sell Vegas Pro at a 40% discount...
  18. @Flyguygamer It was shot on film. I think the film was iso 400,but I exposed it at either 800 or 1600 as I needed the higher iso.
  19. @Flyguygamer thanks! What you're seeing is grain though and not noise. You can tell as noise is usually more evident in dark areas on a photo than in lighter areas. The high grain levels is due to me pushing my film to a higher iso.
  20. Flower shots are tough to judge as there are so many out there... So while a flower shot may be technically fine, it really comes down to the composition. For this shot, I would have liked a different perspective. Just because it's a "point and shoot" camera, doesn't restrict your ability to determine your perspective. Maybe shooting from closer to the ground or a tighter crop? Maybe focus on an interesting aspect of the flower/plant? So for the technical aspect: 9/10 The exposures seems ok to me. It may be a bit hot on the petals but the details are visible (at least on my monitor). On the creative aspect 7/10. My photo: Moon & Mountain (I think its Mount Baker) M6 and HP5 pushed a stop (I think). Its more abstract than I usually submit, so I don't know if many here will like it.
  21. @JEman99 Yeah, I have have the CV 35mm 1.4 Single coat. It gives less contrast. I also have the CV 50mm 1.5 which I really like. I really woulndn't mind getting the 15mm but that's something I have to save up for...
  22. Thanks. I was lucky to get them at good prices as I was willing to wait... I don't have any Leica lenses, mainly using Voigtlander (50mm & 35mm).
  23. Another cool photo (7/10). I missed out on the New Years celebrations in my area; you are lucky you got some good shots. I like the title The One Plus camera looks pretty good. For that shot i used a Hasselblad 500CM with a 80mm lens i think.. Another shot of my sisters dog...
  24. I like to use both film and digital: Nikon D610 Fuji X100T Leica M6 Leica M3 Hasselbald 500CM Note 4 & Gopro Hero 4
