  1. My file structure is as follows: "Photography" - Year - descriptive name of shoot with date, "example JUN2015" - Raw - Processed Here is a video on the topic that I found interesting. https://youtu.be/3_lh76Fjcec
  2. I don't shoot much automotive, but here is my photo:
  3. If your buying used, take a look at keh.com or craigslist too. I've bought several things from keh (and B&H and Adorama) and have had great experiences. A budget would help with recommendations.
  4. Throwback Tuesday...? A few from Mirrors Edge 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
  5. I have Sony Vegas and find it fairly straight forward to use. And as others have already mentioned, Davinci Resolve Lite is free and is another option that you should consider. One thing to remember,if you are currently in school (University or College) you may qualify for an educational discount. It doesn't hurt to check.
  6. My wife uses a Nikon 17-55 2.8 which she is quite happy with. Its an older lens that you may be able to find on the used market... Otherwise, the Sigma 18-35 1.8 is a reported to be quite amazing. If you get the Sigma, maybe invest in a cheap 50mm 1.8 or 85mm 1.8 for the tele end of things.
  7. Damn... That's a haunting shot....
  8. I love Jumping Spiders!! They looks so cool and are usually nice enough to stay still long enough for a photo. Great shot.
  9. Just a few shots from the opening chapter...
  10. I'm really enjoying this game.
  11. Wow.... At least you can claim to have your work reproduced internationally.... ( Silver linings...) Nice photo btw.
  12. Depending on where you are going for vacation, you may want a bag that DOES NOT look like a camera bag. If you already have a backpack, you could use something like this: http://www.amazon.ca/Tenba-638-271-Messenger-16-Inch-Portable/dp/B002E1ALY8/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1431800388&sr=8-9&keywords=lens+wraps The main idea is that camera bags can notify thieves that you are carrying a bag of expensive goodies. I'm headed to Europe in the fall and will be using these wraps for my Nikon D610, Sigma 24mm 1.4 and Sigma 50mm 1.4. That said I have a large Lowepro backpack, a Thinktank Retrospective, and a Billingham messenger bag to chose from when I'm just walking around town.
  13. My Tech Shot... My Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera with a Voigtlander 20mm lens and Speedbooster
  14. @KirbyTech The lighting style (for some of the shots) is Low Key Lighting IMO. Google/Youtube that and maybe its what you are lookikng for? Its basically lighting the subject from a lower perspective from one side so you light across the subject which creates shadows. In the opening scene, it looks like they are moving the light source instread of the subject. It looks like and LCD panel? For the rest of the video, they are probably using a slider in some shots. Hope this helps.... And its not B roll.... B roll is secondary footage as ShadowCaptain stated and not a filming style or lighting technique.
  15. Some "street photography" from GTA 5. Taken with the in game cellphone app, "Snapmatic". Sorry the resolution is so low.... I'm going to have to figure something else out... 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 5. 6.
  16. Provide both to the couple if you are just giving the files. If you are putting one in a book/album, I like the color version. If you are making a print, I think the B&W would look good.
  17. My submission.... Its a photo I took a couple years ago. This week is pretty busy for me so I had to resort to some old files.... Sports car parked in front of a high end hotel. It had rained that morning. Not My Car Hasselblad 500CM; 80mm 2.8; Tri-X or HP5
  18. Just a quick poll to see what you guys are using to play GTA V. I'm finding it hard to drive using the keyboard but like it for the fps... I'm going to try my xbox controller to see what I like better.
  19. I have a BMPCC. Be aware that you do need to color correct the files if you want to get the best out of the camera. The files are flat otherwise. Do you have m43 lenses or will you be using an adaptor? I use a metabones speed booster with my Nikon mount lenses. The dynamic range is really nice (13 stops I think). Are you going to go bare bones with just a pistol grip and mic, possible a viewfinder? The lcd screen on the back is very hard to use in bright light, so I'd suggest using a viewfinder/shade... There are several reviews online/youtube, which I would suggest watching before you decide on the BMPCC. Its not for everyone but if you can overcome the quirks it can produce great files. Maybe check out the GH4.
  20. The M3 Its a beautiful camera and I love the weight and feel of it. It is made of brass, which will show over time and use. I have the double stroke version and the film advance is butter smooth. I mention above that when I shoot my 35mm lens, I just use the whole viewfinder as my framelines. The viewfinder is amazingly bright and I do find focusing to be relatively easy. I've never had an issue loading film, but my M3 may have the loading upgraded (M4 version?). The M3 has no meter and I don't trust myself to read the light properly so I either use a handheld meter or use the voigtlander VC meter II pictured above/below. Its very accurate and very easy to use. The M6 The M6 is not made of brass but is still has a solid weight and feel. My viewfinder is the 0.85× version and has these framelines: (35-135, 50-75, 90). The film advance is nice and smooth but the M3 feels nicer (in my opinion). Focusing is easy and the viewfinder is bright. Loading is a breeze, but that may be due to experience with these cameras. The light meter is fairly accurate. If you asked me which one I would keep if I had to choose.... I would have a very hard time deciding. I would probably keep the M3 as I love the feel and I have other ways of meter the light when I need to nail the exposure. That said, the M6 is a great camera which I would be hard pressed to sell or get rid of. Good luck on your search of an M camera and keep us updated on which one you get. Have you considered an M5? They tend to go a bit cheaper then the other M cameras. Or a Voigtlander Bessa RM3 or RM2? They are a lot more affordable than Leicas and can take M mount lens.
  21. @Jaybird No worries. We should just try to keep images in this thread strictly for the challenge. Good luck on your finals!
  22. LOL why would you post this here? This thread is only for challenge submissions. Maybe place the photo in the "Rate the Photo" thread. Cute fish though
  23. I was just watching some coverage from the NAB show and saw a quick interview of Brandon Lee (LMG) @3:15 https://youtu.be/p3GRZ2WWWiU Its a very short clip but it was cool to see him on something other than Linus tech tips. I've also been enjoying Brandon's own coverage of the NAB show. The posted video is by Dave Dugdale - Learningvideo.com.
