  1. OK, installed the audio driver from Asus, still same problem, here's a screenshot. it shows speakers not connected, even though they are (connected to the green audio port on the motherboard) and audio playing on the Realtek Digital Audio device (was playing a youtube video). Weird, never in all my years playing with computers have the audio ports not worked. Although I'll be very pleased if someone points out I'm doing something very stupid.
  2. Yeah, no issues found in Device Manager. But it's strange that both front panel and rear audio ports are faulty...
  3. Hi, before I send it back and request a replacement, I thought I'd ask the forum's opinion. Audio does not work if I connect speakers to the rear or headphones to the front panel. The speakers and headphones work on a different PC. When I connect them and go to control panel/sounds, it says nothing is connected. I have reconnected the HD audio cable to the motherboard and checked the front panel cable is also connected. For info, all other ports, including the front panel USB C port, work fine. The case is Lian Li O11 Dynamic. In the bios, hd audio is enabled Time to RMA?/ Case
  4. now the list looks like this: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/38RY8r note the prices in germany are different to what this says for some of the items
  5. he now wants rgb fans, so was thinking of the Corsair 4000X RGB which comes with 3 rgb fans at the front. So now my question is about rgb connections on the motherboard as the 5600x cpu comes with the wraith cooler which also has the rgb ring light, so will I be able to connect them all to the motherboard?
  6. I think that's the motherboard I put in my last build. It only had 2 fan headers and one of them was in a really crap place. otherwise, thanks for the list!
  7. Budget (including currency): around 1500-1700 euros but flexible Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080p AAA gaming plus school work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi all, here is the parts list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/M2jB78 GPU might be overkill, the PSU too but it gives it more lifespan. He wants a high refresh rate ultrawide monitor and I found this LC-POWER LC-M29-UW-UXGA-100-C 29 Inch Curved Monitor , Black: Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo Looks very reasonable but can't find any reviews about it. Anyone know it? He will buy his own buy keyboard, mouse and speakers. Best, JW
  8. I have the Logitech Z533. Decent price (imo), they sound good, not that I can compare them to much, and they look decent.
  9. Thanks for the info. I have a NAS so could use that to deal with the persistence issue. I have phpmyadmin installed on it and have already used sql to import and update a database for another simple project. My problem, not being a programmer, is understanding the methodology and code for the communication between the front end and backend. I've been going through W3Schools, it's very helpful but I easily get lost. So if using php on the NAS and html/js on the front end is the best solution for me, I'll work on that. I've heard of node.js but I don't know whether that would be relevant in my scenario.
  10. Hi all, I am creating a simple website to keep track of my daily workouts. It has 4 boxes for me to enter the number of different activities I perform. The amounts entered should automatically be added to the list of daily totals underneath the boxes. Next to each daily total is a yearly total which keeps a running total of all daily workouts. Right now I've just created the html and I'm guessing I need to use javascript for the arithmetic but I really don't know where to start. Any pointers?
  11. Just tried it on my PC, different specs (amd) but it functions fine. Did you perform an upgrade or a clean install?
  12. Upgraded 4 PCs to Windows 11, we game on all of them - Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 4, CoD Modern Warfare 2019, Diablo 3, Minecraft. Havent noticed any difference in performance and have had zero problems. Same with Adobe Lightroom.
  13. I have upgraded all 4 PCs in my house to Windows 11 without a problem (3 upgrades and 1 clean install). The first was the day of release, the last was 2 days ago. I also use Adobe (photohop and lightroom) and use 2 monitors with different resolutions. So far I have had zero issues. Dragging windows from one monitor to another, snapping into place, application and gaming performance, everything is roses here. Can't help with Windows backup though as I save hardly anything locally - I use my NAS or Amazon Drive. All the best.
  14. Thanks for your help mate, much appreciated. This forum is worth its weight in gold
  15. Just found the option i needed. Turned to CSM (legacy) mode. Now it seems to be booting...
  16. The select boot mode is greyed out. You're right, it's weird, never had any problem like this before
  17. And if I click f11 when booting to force boot from the drive it, it doesn't show the installed drives, just prompts me to go into the bios
  18. This is the boot order. It doesn't mention nvme drive, just uefi.
  19. Windows is already installed on the nvme drive but the PC just goes straight to the Bios. I also installed a new cpu (6700k -->5800x) but windows should still boot right?
  20. Just installed a MSI B550 Mortar and I have a problem. Flashed the bios to version 1.70. In the Bios, it sees the 2 drives I have but under settings, nvme self test, I see this - any ideas?
