  1. Will I need a z170 to achieve 2800mhz? I would have thought all boards could achieve that as it's not that fast
  2. hi all, I'm replacing my PC case, going from mid tower to SFF. I need a motherboard to fit a micro atx case (Corsair 280x or similar size). I don't need to overclock so don't need z170, also don't need built in wifi but I would like it to have m.2 as I have an nvme drive. So far found this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01EVGRFUQ/ref=pd_day0_hl_147_3/257-2339848-2275264?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01EVGRFUQ&pd_rd_r=99ff80a6-b3a7-4b26-bdd5-3460ef452d32&pd_rd_w=EeMjp&pd_rd_wg=Ul2jJ&pf_rd_p=c1c0c313-b950-46bd-9af0-83d42e9e421e&pf_rd_r=JSF335ES6R8CFND9XBY3&psc=1&refRID=JSF335ES6R8CFND9XBY3 and this https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B016DIWNR0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A5OYG6JY998VU&psc=1 Any others you know/would recommend? Cheers
  3. then if I stay with that case I could just use my existing 140mm fans at the top and bottom, should provide enough cooling. I haven't found many sff cases I like though. My other pc is a Lian-Li 0-11 Dynamic and with all the rgb and tempered glass it looks fantastic. looking to get a smaller version for the living room
  4. Cheers Leon, I guess that shows I didn't know the difference between micro atx and itx! Will adjust my Amazon search accordingly. 2mm to spare on the gpu!
  5. Hi all, I want to replace my Fractal Design Define with a sff case. I like the look of the Corsair 280x: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07CJTHWTK/ref=twister_B07Y3QT8LT?_encoding=UTF8&th=1# I want to be able to swap as much from my existing PC into it as I can. I know I need an ITX motherboard and a smaller PSU but I need to know if any of the other components will need to be replaced. Existing stuff: 6700k Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 (too tall?) Asus Z170 atx (too big) 16gb hyperX Savage ddr4 2800mhz (these are fairly low profile) evga supernova g2 psu (too big?) asus strix 1080Ti (too long? I hope not) Samsung 960 evo 500bb nvme (new mobo needs m.2 connectivity) Crucial 525gb SSD Be Quiet 140mm case fans I won't need to overclock (even though it's a k chip), so a Z board is not necessary. And I don't need built-in wifi but as mentioned I do need m.2. I also want to keep the cost of changing the PC low, hoping to not go over €250 but that might be too hopeful. Thanks for any help
  6. it sounds like that could be what's happening but when i was in the bios it only listed my nvme boot drive. will look again but without the ssd attached, I can't tell the bios to not boot from it. catch 22
  7. yes, it's fine when I disconnect the SSD and I went into the bios. is there any setting in there that would prevent another ssd being attached? never heard of anything like that:
  8. Hi all, I moved an SSD from one PC to another. The SSD contains files, not an OS. It was working fine in the other PC. I have used 2 different data power cables, tried 2 different sata motherboards ports and connected the cable to 2 different ports on the power supply. Same problem every time - when I turn the PC, it doesn't boot. The power light comes on but then everything stops - the fans don't turn and it doesn't post. It is a Crucial 500gb SSD. I am connecting it to an Asus Tuf X570 board with a Seagate Prime 750w psu. I didn't format the drive before I swapped because I didn't think I would need to. The PC I am connecting it to used an nvme (Samsung 970) as boot drive. I can't get into the bios to check it with the SSD installed because of the error stated above. Anyone seen this happen before? Cheers
  9. Cheers. I plan on playing Forza Horizon 4. I don't have any other BT devices, and the wireless adapters cost 20 euros each, compared to 10 euros for an extra BT adapter so I think the decision is made.
  10. Hi all, I have 2 Windows 10 PCs and I'm planning on buying an XBox One wireless controller plus wireless adapter for both. Might sound like a stupid question, but would the controllers interfere with each other? And if they do, can the controllers connect via bluethooth instead? And on a side note, 1 of my PCs is already bluetooth enabled, so it would be a little cheaper if I use bluethooth to connect the controllers rather than the wireless adapters. If I were to go down this route, would the performance (lag) be any different on bluetooth? Thanks in advance.
  11. I have the MSI and it's great, just looks fantastic on my desk. The Viotek isn't available in my region so couldn't really comment but I haven't heard of the company..
  12. Ray tracing is only just coming out in regular computer games, I expect it will be years before we see it in VR. But I'm with @Levent, I would always buy new rather than secondhand. Even if you don't use the RT functionality in games, you should look at the raw horse power of the card. That's why I chose a 2080 Super when I built my new PC rather than an older card, even assuming I would have been able to still get one.
