What do I have to do to convince one of you masochists with a 3900x to compile UE4 in Visual Studio 2019 setup to use 11 cores? Nobody ever posts large codebase benchmarks.

Funny how their bugs always have a negative impact on users' privacy.  I have yet to encounter one that increases it.

Also why the fuck did AMD go with a blower cooler for the Radeon? Nvidia has two big ass fans on all of their RTX lineup, why did AMD think a small-ass blower cooler would be enough

wow! This is amazing, tbh I  thought no one would respond to this topic - I cannot thank you guys enough; Thank you for taking your precious time and guiding me though :)
Lol! I've to caught up with geometry, generally in my tests i do not even study geometry, just because I feel like there is a lot of mugging up of formulas and visualization too(at least for my courseware) I like Matrices and vectors though 8-) Thank you for your reply sir!!

That is something totally new for me that they do differ in terms of their algorithms: Thank you very much for your input sir!
Your input was really insightful, I personally have a clear choice between a uni degree or a better PC down the line and I prefer 2nd route(will get some inexpensive mandatory piece of paper). I really love maths but I don't mug up algorithms and arrive at the solutions the school or exams monotonously asks; it fells like you've been given algorithm, syntax, the code and program objective all you have to do is just type and compile because you know it is already running. That is why I don't usually score good in math because the 'streotypical' mathematics school/uni teaches sucks, the only thing these institutions amount for are  the social network which again is a double edged sword. I can totally understand what you've been thorough lol! Thank you very much for your insights sir!!

That is something really new for me, I will definitely look into functional programming; algorithms are really the crux of intrigue in maths; It still amazes me how a simple mathematical function can be expressed and kindled in various formats if you consider algebraically and then when expressed as a geometrical the equation takes on some shape which was hidden in that equation. It is amazing, Thank you very much too for this help sir!!!

Will surely do sir! Thank you very much for that!
I was planning to attend some autocad classes(will do as time permits), Finance though I could never deduce be useful in comp prog, huh! thah is indeed interesting
thank you very much as well sir for taking your time and replying me!!!

Yep, the NH-U12A is excellent and hard to go wrong with if you can afford it. It's not the very top performer but it's up there and comes with NF-A12x25's which are the best 120mm's on the market. There are other coolers that generally provide better performance for the price if that's what you're looking for instead.

Matrixes, Vectors, Angles and hexadecimal are fairly common, as well as basic algebra and curves, interpolation, etc. Nothing too crazy really. Most universities will teach you different algorithms for traversing trees of data or building them as well, as they come up on programming tests at big companies often.

We're hitting 1.4v at the 4.3-4.4GHz mark. If Zen 2 can't handle more voltage, then it likely won't clock better (BIOS can affect how well chips overclock by a small extent). We can't really do much overclock testing either, because the chips are locked to not exceed certain wattage ranges.

That's definitely a thing, I was trying to address the common misconception that devs go out of their way to favor one vendor over another, in general, developers want their products to run the best it can on any hardware available. One of the best examples I have worked with related to what you mentioned is the AMD Bulldozer bugs related to audio, specifically with unreals audio subsystem killing the CPU performance. Still an issue to this day, despite several attempted fixes from Epic and AMD.

Why do people assume that PC versions will suddenly, magically, favor AMD hardware when that hasn't been the case for the past six years of AMD powered consoles?

Oh boy, as if the internet really needed another venue to argue SQL v. NoSQL.

If all your doing is just key-value lookups, then yes, as hashmap is going to be the fastest way.  However as you mentioned that would require a system with an equivalent amount of ram to store all the data in (technically more for OS overhead and buffer space).

One of the driving forces behind databases is that they enable you to perform operations on a dataset that is far, far larger than your computer's physical ram, usually at the cost of a little extra space for indexes to enable fast lookup of the data.

There are multiple databases and types of databases to choose from, each with their own positives and negatives.  I am aware of the resistance in recent years to using SQL databases, and as I mentioned, there are certainly reasons why you might not want to an SQL database.  Despite that however, I still recommend starting out using an SQL database like MySQL (which is FOSS).  With all the years all development that has gone into them, they are generally some of the most reliable, feature rich, and flexible databases you can use.  And that last part is to me the most important.  You don't realize just how valuable having a flexible system is until you have some great idea, but realize that to use it would require making a absolute shit-ton of changes to your existing setup.  Using a higher performance but less flexible database is to me an example of premature optimization.

Do yourself a favor, if you're learning C++ become familiar with the entire process of object file -> linker -> compiler using gcc or clang (works for windows now too) before you start using Visual Studio to hold your hand, or you'll just become confused and frustrated from not understanding VS's error output when you run into problems working with external libraries.

If you hate VS just grab clang and work with makefiles or batch/terminal for building and Atom with the clang plugin, the workflow is surprisingly smooth. If you want a posix like work environment on windows grab babun and TDM for now, supposedly Windows 10 will be getting a big update this summer to support a posix environment within windows.

The only leak on Polaris 10 is that at 800mhz it equals a 390x. Now AMD also shrunk their die so expect higher overclocks than on your Hawaii GPU. Pascal hits 2.2GHz easy so guess from the hip 1500-1600 MHz is a conservative estimate. That's Near FuryX level performace for 300us. I'd wait. And the grass isn't greener on team green.
