I used elementaryOS on my old msi gs60 6qe. I removed 'quiet' and 'splash' and added nomodeset at the end of the line beginning with Linux. When you eventually get the install done, win+T and run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade That should get the ball rolling, i had a similar issue with arch and Xubuntu.

and you've installed the right drivers for the right card? Boot into safemode, reinstall drivers, reboot into normal, see if its still dead? And you deffo have enough power going to the card right?, power cords are connected properly to the gpu,cables arenet loose, psu is turned on etc?

im still here on my 4790k, its still a beast, i just need to up from 8gb to 16gb ram. I'll wait and see if the gains are enough to merit the potential upgrade cost.

Heads up, this has actually been fixed and was an error due to using an outdated thing, think i heard it on Netlinked Daily.

I've just gone and got myself a Nexus 6p to replace my OPX I cant be bothered sending the phone back. Wireless radios are just too temperamental, screen has gone a little iffy and my simcard keeps dropping. Wont connect to machines at all, SD doesnt mount. Flashed it, rep'd it. i loved that phone, but its time to retire already /sadface.

For your ethernet port, have you installed the intel ethernet adapter driver and then used the manufacturers website to check for more drivers?

I would look into using F-Secure. Used it for 7 years now and it hasnt failed me once, has a lot of customisation and has a lot of advance features you might enjoy.

this may sound patronising, but im a first liner, so: Is your power supply properly plugged in and switched on? Have you made sure that your 24 pin and 8 pin sockets have been connected properly? Have you made sure that any optional power is supplied? Have you tried only running the system with 1 DIMM in the a1 and b1 sockets? Have you tried removing the GPU and seeing if it could be a potential power issue? Have you praised the sun? And in all honesty, have you tried dismantling the machine and testing the mobo/cpu with cooler and one DIMM outside of the case? Taking everything out, get a cool drink or hot - whichever you prefer, take a quick break, watch something on a laptop and then come back to it. Edit: If it doesnt work - panic, run, cry, nap and make someone else do it.

really stupid question and the reason my old pc didnt start. did you follow the instructions included with the motherboard to put the mobo pin headers in correctly? Turned out i had the + and - connectors on the wrong pins.

i run an elementary OS/Win10 machine. Upgraded to win10 pro from 7 home as a fresh install, ive not had a single issue, not sure how so many have had problems or are really deterred.

So, it arrived. By the sun is it ever incandescent!
