Gould-Digger's Achievements

  1. Hi All, I built a PC a couple of years ago for my sister, I had an incredibly tight budget so here are the current specs... CPU - Intel Pentium G3258 CPU (Dual Core 3.20GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150). GPU - ASUS AMD Radeon R9 270 2GB Graphics Card. RAM - Crucial Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2), DDR3. MOBO - MSI H81M-P33 Socket 1150, mATX Motherboard. HDD - Seagate 1TB, 7200RPM. PSU - EVGA 500W She currently plays alot of GTA5 which runs just fine on this system at 1080p, medium settings. However she wants to play some more modern titles like Mafia 3 (Runs smoothly on missions, but during open world gameplay when there's more AI, cars etc. or a cop chase, car crash etc. the frame rate becomes choppy. She also wants to play Watchdogs 2, but that straight out refuses to run on a dual core apparently. From my knowledge, I believe it's the CPU that needs desperately upgrading to a quad core for modern game titles? I don't keep up to date with latest generations or when new components are due to be released, is now a even a good time to upgrade? My sister currently has some funds to upgrade it herself (Around £200/$250). Ideally I want to keep to the lower end of the budget and aim for the Best performance per dollar ratio, if possible. Any help is appreciated. Kind regards, Nathan
  2. So I built my PC in late 2012/early 2013 and it's never been upgraded. It consists of the following; CPU Intel® Core™ i5-3330 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz) RAM Crucial 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 GPU Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC 2GB Storage Western Digital 1TB Green PSU Corsair CX500 What are my upgrade options here in 2016? I'm not a hardcore gamer as you can expect from my 'rig' But I would like to start playing some upcoming titles such as mafia III and Planet coaster. I'm worried my machine won't keep up with new titles. I know GTA 5 is very un-optimised for PC and I do get 60fps on real low settings, but I'd like a little more than just low. Also my screen is only 1080p
  3. Don't really know much about SSDs and their prices. Been meaning to get one for a long time. Would this be any good? Thinking it could be a boot drive with my most common used programs. *The deal* Enter Voucher code B23FSAVE5 at checkout. Free Delivery available. http://www.dabs.com/products/sandisk-120gb-ssd-plus-sata-6gb-s-2-5--solid-state-drive-B23F.html?src=2 *Edit - The code actually saves you £5 making the SSD only £29.97 :L
  4. Well I haven't yet, but it would be nice to hear from them. There's also rumours of sharing our equipment with other Virgin Media customers so we can all access each others Wi-Fi... Not sure how I feel about that
  5. @LoneRangerS Heard anything from Virgin about this yet?
  6. I dug out this game as soon as I upgraded to Windows 10, Runs without a problem.
  7. When you say 'rising every day' :L I'm hoping that's a exaggeration or you're measuring in very small units. If this is the exact! same unit as it was 2 years ago then adding more fans isn't really going to solve the deeper issue here. As others have stated 100% clean out your system, but also take a look at the programs you have installed, maybe something is putting strain on the CPU and heating things up accordingly. It's also very difficult to tell if this fluctuation is considered normal due to not having any ambient temperature data i.e you say its hot at the moment... Maybe when you took temperatures two years ago it was cold?
  8. Yes and also the mail app has stopped working too. It will start the program and then I can't click anything. Just over a week in and already having problems... derp
  9. Maybe it's just a placebo, but I actually think my gaming performance especially in GTA 5 has increased when upgrading from windows 7 to 10. What card are you running? Make sure you have the latest driver update as I actually had one this morning from AMD. Saying that, before the update I didn't experience any problems. My course of action would be to... -Check windows update -Check for graphic driver updates -Restart a bunch of times -Check to see if there's a particular program using up system resources You have 1 month to revert back to windows 8. You can do so by going to settings > update and security > Recovery > Go back to windows 8
  10. With the move to vessel and their 7 day exclusives before videos are available on YouTube, just how far behind are we? I remember hearing that some videos can take months to edit, but most I'm guessing can be done within a week. For e.g. with the recent office vlogs, by the time we know on YouTube that they've moved in, they could of actually been in the new office for some time. I am also guessing that a considerable amount of planning is put into the videos and that can lead to even more time before hand. What are peoples thoughts? Are we even behind or is Linus and his crew simply in the future
