"dead cores" ? That moment when you thought you've seen it all. The cores very likely are disabled within the BIOS. Second possibly might be physical damage, but this is unlikely as then probably the whole CPU would fail.

Try to map the network drive, the network discovery always has issues, don't use it for a nas.

Windows build in defragmentation tool will work just fine. But no software will keep GTA 5 in mind. Only place large files on the outside of the drive and close to each other.

Might also make things easier for developers i guess because its easier to port over between different devices. Now there are to many different instructions to chose from.

I think its a good thing don't know much about open/closed instruction sets but I do about closed protocols making things more difficult then they should be. (Reverse engineering stuff) Yes, looking at you SMB ?

I don't really get your whole question. Does the GPU not show up on your computer? Because GPT does not have much to do with that. GPT is a partition table used on a hard drive. UEFI can either be a boot modus or a modern version of BIOS.
 
When the integrated graphics work i think that you first have to disable integrated graphics within the BIOS you sometimes have a choice in the BIOS to either use the dedicated GPU or the integrated.

This can be done by using LXD/LXE or docker. If you want the learn something along the way by setting up everything from scratch I would recommend LXD/LXE. Docker are pre-build application containers where most of the configuration is already done. LXD/LXE are containers with any linux distro running in it.
 
In case you also want to run non-linux applications the same can be done with KVM but this has more overhead then LXD as this is full-virtualization and LXD/LXE are just containers.
 
TL;DR: Get some hardware install your favour distro on it (Raspbian should work too)
and install either KVM or LXD/LXE. The raspberry will actually have enough resources when using LXD/LXE as 1 container will only use 50-100MB ram each when under some load.

So you are still able to login? Can you get the task manager running with key combination ctr + shift + esc?
If so then you can start a new task " explorer.exe ". Sounds like that this does not start at boot in your case.

Haha they are already working on encryption that can handle quantum computers. But knowing that many people still use TELNET while there has been SSH for ages tells me that this won't be wide used by the time quantum computers come around. Still many (password) databases on the internet that don't even use encryption at all.

Not sure how bitdefender would detect this when its not running at the external IP of your network but anyway. Ports scans are done automatic from the internet by botnets. So it might happen to you once in a while. In a normal situation you don't have to worry when you got only the following ports open.

R.I.P any encryption 1800-2030 those are mathematical problem in fact but just way to hard for any computer to crack in any practical amount of time. But quantum computer will probably do it in hours if not minutes. That is what scares me about it.

Being Linux only user for 3-4 years now I know that Linux can have some frustrating things too, but atleast after you got it working and think about it a second time you figure out that you just didn't RTFM or that you didn't understand it good enough. Which does not say that LInux does not have bugs but normally they are not system breaking types.

Installing any newer OS then XP on it will probably fry it.

You can create a VM on FreeNAS install a Linux distro within it and make that a cache proxy. The server will also act as a DNS server for the host on the network. Maybe you can create it also within FreeNAS self but personally I do not use FreeNAS.

1. isnt wireless charging just induction by generating a magnetic field by a coil? : Yes the coil will generate a magnetic field because electricity goes trough it. This will cause also electricity to flow in the coil (The secondary coil) within the phone.
 
2. why cant I just wrap a coil and call it a day? : You might actually be able to do this when it has the correct length cable and has the correct amount of windings on the coil. You also need the correct amount of power flowing trough it as this also determines the power of the magnetic field.
 
3.  why cant you make a really long regular charging cable, make a coil out of it and effectively charge plugged in and wirelessly through the same cable. : I don't see why this won't be possible but i don't have enough understanding of the concept to explain this.
