I think that Windows 8 was designed more for ultrabooks with touch interface, and while thats where things are going, its to soon to make a generalization and take on just that market and leave the desktop users with a bad interface. Windows 8.1 fixes some of the issues associated with this and adresses the desktop market. I don't hate Windows 8, but its not for me. Its also an upgrade, which is a headache in and of itself. Windows 7 will be fine for now.
