Correct, tech demo indeed, it's actaully a strees test map in my VR game that really has nothing to do with ships, but uses a lot of water.
Thanks! That's a great guess! And that's exactly what I didn't do for any of the physics (but did do for the noise/fome masking around/under the ships) and that makes it quite impressive from a tech point of view. I made a conservetive mathematical physical model of the ships, it's real physics! It's not perfect obviously  yeey awesome, you noticed, the ship flipping is actually the result of physcis, when ships get rotated to a point of "no return", you can also notice some inconsistent velocities, that's the result of my GPU getting bottlenecked at the sun rise/set, when the light shafts and light scattering are kicking in. Also there are no tricks used, like, the ships in the far distance or out of sight are really static, every single ship ticks at the same rate, all the time.

    EDIT:
I may also point out that the best community effort (that I know of) is about 50 ships, until now. So I think it's a pretty big leap. Honestly it's probably the result of me really caring a lot about this and implementing it (I'm a engine contributor as well), what I want to say is, I'm not going to win any grand prizes for this, but it's still pretty cool.

Endorsing the use of add-ons that contain pirated content is not the same as endorsing piracy itself. The add-on also contains legitimate content and it's up to the user as to what they decide to use it for.

Additionally, endorsing the PC platform is not akin to endorsing piracy either, even though the platform is typically used for it.

    this is BS
    it didnt "cripple" AMD performance
it was an option in the settings for effects which were specifically coded for nvidia GPUs, so obviously turning it on for AMD GPUs would reduce performance more than normal

the entire point of it being an "option" is so that people who have nvidia GPUs can use it, and if you dont have an nvidia GPU DONT FREAKING COMPLAIN ABOUT IT DECREASING YOUR PERFORMANCE because it was not made for your AMD GPU

    seriously, just deal with it
if you want those special effects then buy a GPU from the company that actually has money to give help to developers to effortlessly implement sweet effects

it takes nothing away from AMD, and adds stuff if you have an nvidia GPU

They might have the manpower but that takes all development from making an actual game which you can't start to make until you have an engine to work with. You need an engine before you can start development so taking man hours from all studios would postpone the release of a new game for ~5 years minimum which is something Activision shareholders and the the game's fans would rather didn't happen.

As for your second point, no the engine isn't broken in the slightest. The more recent iterations in the COD franchise have actually looked really good; at this point it's just mindless hate because

It isn't a money thing. It's the sheer amount of time it takes to create a new engine alongside the saying 'If it isn't broken, don't fix it'. What benefit would you gain from making an entirely new engine, the new in-house tools you'd need and all the while adapting to the new workflows that would accompany all of the above for artists, programmers and game designers.

For reference, Epic Games has an entire department dedicated to the development of it's engine. According to an article written in 2005[1], UE4 had already been in development for two years prior. UE4 had it's release build (build 8967) in May 2012 Thats NINE years. Tell me more about how 'lazy ' they are for not creating a new engine every 3 years...

Also you seem to drastically underestimate the size of Epic Games; they have a LOT of people working on their engine. Not only do they have an in-house team but hundreds of community developers also contribute towards the development of the engine.

Although I agree with you that yes, just because some person does something it doesn't make it right or ethical for others to follow along with them, the whole child slave labour and sweatshop analogy is kind of an extreme comparison with what Microsoft is doing.

Spying and data collection is inevitable and we will never be in a world where we as everyday people aren't farmed for our online browsing habits, interests and whatnot so that advertising agencies can try to sell us things we don't really want or need. It's an irreversible turn that the internet has taken and the only way to stay truly 'private' is to go live in a cave for the rest of your life deep in an inhospitable jungle. Im not at all condoning any form of personal data collection at all, but there's literally nothing we can do about it other than to just stop using the internet.

Man I sure hope you have the same code when It comes to Google. Obviously you don't use anything google like Chrome, Google.com, android or anything else? Because those things are free too, meaning that you are the product, and gets data mined there too by Google "malware".

I don't like this any more than any other, but double standards are ridiculous. If we want services and OS' to improve in usability, we have to give away some data. As long as it's anonymous enough to not identify you, it should be ok.

So having the OS apply updates (mainly security/stability) is in itself a security issue and leaving holes open to abuse is safer? The enterprise edition doesn't come with it because it's the enterprise edition. The logistics of updating potentially thousands of workstations and ensuring that all software is functional afterwards would be a nightmare. Giving corporations the choice of when to update is a good thing - why do you think military and governments all over the world still use XP...

FabulousOtter reacted to GoodBytes in Windows 10 has a screen recording function, sparking understandable paranoia
If you think for a minute that the NSA is too incompetant to make their own video recording solution, spread it as an undetectable virus, which doesn't record your desktop but rather stream, let alone use remote desktop, and that they are going to use the lame ass, time limited XBox PVR recorder thingy feature, then you need to re-evaluate things, because I don't think your efforts in privacy are well targeted.

It means it's off. The exe stops running. You can also turn off XBox app running from the background in the Privacy settings of Windows 10, if you want that extra edge.. or you know, as suggested, uninstall the app. Also the way the NSA work, is not to looking at your screen. They process data for keywords (voice and text) that they are looking for, and monitor when those keyboard are detected. They build connection on who calls to whom, and things like that. They don't record life by itself. If they have someone to spy too, they will target the individual, but else then that, it is not deep monitoring. Granted they are doing it without warrant, and I am not saying it is right, but they have better things to do than ask the police to knock on your door because you copied that floppy. If you get what I mean.

For the ultra paranoid out there, and Microsoft haters that finds anything to hate on:

Oh noes! You can disable it!
You can even change the keyboard shortcut to something unique to your own, if you think some program will hit the default one by default.
    Amazing!
Now let me go back to bed. Sensationalist non sense.
Oh yea, also I can't record an application, only games, else you have a pop-up asking you "Is this a game?".
I tried several times, it doesn't work on my side, just like that.
So unless the program uses the GPU, it should not work for applications for spying. Either the article was written for an older build of Windows which this did have this, or it is sensationalist fluff.
Also, there is a max time recording.. and also that spy person would need to upload all the clip to its server after... I think you'll notice.

Freesync isn't free. It might cost a bit less sure, but it is not free.
I recall seeing  G-Sync Monitors with multiple inputs. Sure only 1 of them (DisplayPort) supports G-Sync, similarly to FreeSync based monitors.
Competition and consumer demand will push manufacture to make G-Sync with more inputs.

Also, G-Sync is not responsible for color reproduction. The panel is, and the manufacture calibration of the panel, and other components selected or created by the manufacture in processing the signal received (eg: color processor used or not, Look Up Table used/calibrated, FRC system to emulate more colors that the panel can't natively produce, say the manufacture picks  a 6-bit panel over a true 8-bit per channel panel).

Also: wccftech.. sensationalist title, and I don't think I need to continue.
