  1. I am in the US, but no I haven't taken it apart yet. I was debating it, I have taken apart my previous cards water blocks before but I was concerned about losing the warranty since this is a factory block. The card is still working which leads me to believe this has to be some kind of glue or something from one of the stickers under the plate. I just dont see how water could get to that part of the card, and if it did it would surely be dead. Going to buy a 1070 on craigslist and RMA this anyways though
  2. Anyone have thoughts on how on earth this happened? There is fluid between the backplate and the card. Looks like there is some kind of mesh sticker and its between that and the clear acrylic of the eagle. Not sure if its water leaking from one of the screw holes or something or some kind of thermal grease on the vrms or maybe glue from the sticker that heated up?
  3. In case anyone was wondering, this is what a $4000 razer blade is like, worst blacklight bleed I've ever seen + a keyboard that doesn't even work.
  4. So I have been running my HP dv7 for a loooong time now. I have been looking for a replacement for like 6 months now but nothing seems to really live up to my expectations. I have been through 2 XPS 15's + a Razer Blade Pro. The XPS's had some serious issues, first one motherboard died within like a day of having it, and the replacement had the backlight flicker issue (common on those) + a laggy as hell desktop (intel graphics cant handle 4k?). The Razer blade.. well more on that later maybe but what a pile of garbage that was. I do alot of video/photo editing, LIGHT gaming, full adobe suite use. Here is what I am looking for in a laptop: 1440p or higher resolution (there goes 90% of the market) IPS panel or something with similarly good colors (glossy preferred) - XPS screen was amazeballs 15"+ screen size i7 + GTX 10 series card G-Sync preferred (because if I enable gsync on the desktop, I never have to deal with the intel graphics again. I hate that auto switching back and forth that you cant disable) I do NOT care about: weight or size battery life noise (to a degree) So I ask you, what is there that fits this? Honestly the biggest driver for me is the screen. I am STILL drooling over that XPS screen. Honestly I am thinking about giving the XPS 15 a 3rd try. If there is a better option though I'm all ears.
  5. Thanks man!! Ordered a few, totally just spent $150 on mousepads. Stocked up for the next decade.
  6. So I have been using the XFX Warpad ever since it came out in 2012. And pretty much everyone of my friends has one as well after they saw mine. Its starting to get a bit beat up though, and so I was going to buy another one but XFX doesnt make them anymore and I cannot seem to find one anywhere. Its like they have vanished from the face of the earth. Its the best pad I've ever used, and saved my arm/wrist for sooo much pain over the years. I even went as far as to contact XFX and see if they were making a replacement/knew anywhere that still had one and the rep said no and no If anyone finds a place that still has one in stock that would be even better, I'd probably buy like 3 of them. But failing that, does anyone know of another mouse pad that clips to the edge of the desk like this one? 7. YOU SIR, are a gentleman and a scholar. I don't think you understand how much time and headache you just solved. This $20 program just beat out Lightroom and Photoshop. I will post back in a bit and let you know how much server space I am about to save too haha
  8. Because I haven't written any programs in Java since like college which was 3+ years ago and It would take me more time to remember/google everything I need to know than it would to just sort out all the different file types
  9. Photoshop seems to have the most limited capability. The image processor only allows for resizing and exporting as a jpg, psd, or tiff
  10. OK so quick to the point. I have a website with an images folder that is almost 40gb, many thousands of images. Different aspect ratios, different file types. I need a program that will batch resize anything above say 1000px, but maintain the aspect ratio, original file type, and extension. I cannot convert all of the photos to a common format without breaking links, most of the batch programs I have tried if I throw in .jpg, .jpeg, and .JPG will export everything as .jpg which would invalidate a bunch of links on my site. The only thing I have that is even remotely close right now is Irfanview, it recognizes the difference in .JPG .jpg and .jpeg and maintains the extensions and can search for anything above a set height or width, however it cannot export multiple file types at once. ie if i throw someimage1.jpg, someimage2.jpeg and someimage3.png in I will get someimage1.jpg, someimage2.jpeg and someimage3.jpg back. I have Lightroom and Photoshop as well but I don't see the functionality I need in either of those. Lightroom does have the option to export original format, but if you choose that option it greys out the option to resize so that isnt helpful If anyone has a suggestion please let me know
  11. Ok so I uninstalled everything (for like the 19th time) using DDU and reinstalled the 2nd GPU. I have downgraded to an older 16.3.2 driver set and nothing has exploded -yet- and I am not seeing the screen tearing on the desktop while opening any of my applications. Going to see if I can get through work today with nothing breaking and try some gaming.
  12. From what I have read SLI works in borderless window? Link And yes I tested the new card to make sure it wasnt dead before I installed it. But my main issue right now is that with the 2nd GPU UNPLUGGED I am still getting screen tearing on the desktop any time I open After Effects, Photoshop, videos, etc. With the GPU I have had working for 2 years. Thats why I am thinking driver issue right now
  13. Running rant.exe as administrator. So in one of my less intelligent moments I decided that buying a 2nd 290x was worth the $200, it even came with the waterblock I needed. I couldn't have been more wrong. NOT only does AMD's Crossfire NOT work in borderless windowed mode (you know that mode the basically every person on earth uses in games) the Catalysts/Crimson drivers have totally destroyed any semblance of hope I had left for AMD. After installing this 2nd 290x into my loop and trying to figure out why it 2nd gpu wasn't being used for anything, I started having issues with screen tearing and monitors flickering on and off while on my desktop. Anytime I start any application that uses the GPU this happens, so After Effects, Photoshop, any game, videos, etc. I decided that OK best to just eat the $200 I just spent and just disable crossfire all together. Well FYI the enable/disable crossfire button in Crimson also doubles as a "Crash my PC Now" button, since that is what happens every time I press it. Both of the cards work fine individually, I tested both of them. After finally disabling crossfire, my issues with screen tearing/flickering on the desktop still persist. So I unplugged the power to the 2nd GPU. Reinstalled Catalyst/Crimson drivers. Issue still present. I haven't actually removed the physical gpu from my system yet, as I have a full water cooling loop and I don't have time to drain my loop again right now. The power however is still unplugged. WHY? At this point I am only using my original card and a fresh install of the latest drivers and still having issues. So right now I have a brand new $200 paperweight and a borked PC. Sweet. If anyone has ANY advice on what I can do here that would be amazing. Currently I am looking for an older version of Crimson that might be stable and working. Fun Crossfire Facts: -only works in fullscreen, no borderless window for you! -enable/disable crossfire button insta crashes pc -AMD drivers are shit, and reset ICC color profiles on all 3 monitors when they crash -AMD "Clean Uninstall Utility" does not actually clean uninstall everything I sense a GTX 1080 is my near future.
  14. @-Old-Tom- yes the ambient temp was the same.
  15. Most of the stuff I have seen where lapping actually did something is on the CPU heatspeader and NOT the cooler. Any decent cooler already has a flat/polished enough base, but CPU heatspreaders are notoriously NOT flat. This is my i7-3770k. Notice how when I started sanding tons of material came off the edges not not the middle? I noted a 5 degree improvement from this.
