  1. I am trying to decide on a second monitor. I don't really have any desire to do dual monitors while gaming, but have the second monitor for internet browsing and video watching while playing games. Right now I have a Acer G257HU smidpx 25-Inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) Widescreen Monitor, and I don't if I should make this my second monitor and get a better one, get the same monitor, or get a lesser monitor. I have a i5 6600k that I am overclocking with a gtx 1070. I am looking to spend around $300(US) on the new monitor. Any guidance and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  2. I recently built a new PC and downloaded Windows 10 onto my SSD from an USB and everything worked just fine for a couple days. I then decided to do some cable management within the case, unplugging some cable and rerouting everything to make it looked better. When I went to start my system back up it wouldn't boot at all even though everything was plugged in correctly and nothing really changed in the system besides some cables were routed differently. After awhile and some random settings getting changed I was finally able to get it to boot with the little watermark in the bottom right hand corner saying activate windows. Now I get the notification that my product key is already being used and I have no way of activating my key even though it is being used my the exact same system. Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this because I am lost on what I could do to fix this? And the key is an OEM key Thank you to anyone that might have any suggestions to how to fix this.
  3. Well there would be my simple and stupid mistake. Thanks for the help
  4. I started at 100 thinking my card started at 1746MHz and since most people got over 2000MHz. I then realized my card started at 1974MHz for some reason without me doing anything. I don't know if that is normal or not but now I was able to run Heaven benchmark stable at 2012MHz at 83.3FPs and a score of 2098 which I think is alright
  5. I am trying to overclock me MSI gtx 1070 armor and no matter what settings to try my computer freezes making me reset my computer. I have never OC before and more than likely having a really simple and stupid mistake that I just don't know that I needed to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Parts are finally all here and it's built. Everything is running right now correctly I think. What test benches and other programs should I run and download?
  7. I just ordered all my parts for my new build. They are all in the mail now and by build day will be this Friday. My components are: CPU:I Intel Boxed Core I5-6600K 3.50 GHz, 6 M Processor Cache 6 for LGA 1151 Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO LGA 1151 Intel Z170 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H115i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler, 280mm RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400 RAM (Desktop Memory) CL15 XMP Black DIMM (288-Pin) GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 DirectX 12 GTX 1070 ARMOR 8G OC 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Storage: WD Blue 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive Storage: Samsung 850 EVO - 250GB - 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD Case: NZXT S340 Mid Tower Case CA-S340W-W1 (White) Monitor: Acer ACG257HUSMIPG257HU smidpx 25 PSU: Seasonic S12 II Bronze 520W 80Plus Power Supply OS: Windows 10 From here I really don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure I can put it together just fine. It's more of the bios settings and the other software that I need to get the most out of my build that I don't know exactly what to do. I am wanting to OC both the CPU and GPU and will need help and advice with that. Any advice or suggestions to of where to go to learn more will be greatly appreciated. Also, is there anything I still need to get that I will need to build that doesn't already come with the components? Thank you to anyone that replies and helps me out.
  8. Well running a 1070 soon, in the mail now but I like free stuff
  9. So far my favorite build that someone has suggested to me is the first one you suggested. Just a couple questions, will it being liquid cool give me a noticable benefit over air cooled in this build and I'm not completely sold on the case I think I might like a black one with white accents instead of an all white case which I don't know if there is one but I really do like the black and white them
  10. I will be using this PC primarily for gaming. I have only ever been limited to gaming on a laptop and not a very good one so I will be wanting to be able to play any game at very high settings in 1440p. Besides gaming I will be using it for the basics, web browsing, listening to music, few different programs nothing that intense, and watching movies and other videos. I am hoping to stay around $1500US. I don't think I'm out of line with the budget for everything that I want. As soon as I do all my research on any build that is suggested and any other advice I will receive. I need everything besides a mouse and keyboard which I might change at a later date, both are from Logitech. In the US in southwest Indiana with no access to a Microcenter. At the moment I have a Logitech mouse and keyboard I'm interested in overclocking both the CPU and GPU. I will just need advice on how to do or where is the best place to look up how to do it. I want an SSD and was thinking about a GTX 1070 besides that I am open to anything else. I don't have much a desire to have an over the top flashy theme. I would much rather have low key type of build if that makes any sense. Color theme maybe black and white or black and blue not a type priority for me. I will need Windows 10 Thank you to anyone that is able to help me it is greatly appreciated.
  11. For the first time I can finally afford to get a pretty good desktop and hoping to spend around 1000 - 1200US. I was at first thinking of buying a prebuilt desktop, but after watching linustechtips for the past couple months I have converted to building my own desktop. I have only been a console gamer and the few games I can play on my laptop, but now I want to be able to play games that I have never been able to play at high quality. I also will be doing some AutoCad work and Solidworks and the desktop. I want to be able to run dual monitors I haven't decided which monitors I should got with yet. The problem I have right now that I think a lot of people might be having right now is do I try to get the gtx1070 on the 10th, wait for MSI, EVGA or someone else to come out with their own, or get one of the new AMD cards that are coming out. I am pretty new to all this stuff and any advice or guidance to where I should go to learn even more about not just what GPU I should get but also all the other components I will need to get for my build would be great. And for a simple run down of what I want bullet points- Desktop between 1000-1200Us Gaming/3D Modeling/ Movies/Web Browsing Live in Indiana so no Microcenters that close Dual Monitors Windows 10 Building as soon as I can once I figure out all the parts Thank you to anyone that can help me out and if there is any other questions I need to answer please ask.
