Las_Killar reacted to Majestic in Intel I7-7700K Undervolting Help
They're irrelevant is Idle is high. To be honest these issues are only really solvable if they're genuinly extreme, like 100C in a few seconds. Then you can diagnose the pump isn't running etc.
But this, you're probably doing something wrong with mounting the thing and noone can verify if you did a good job.

Las_Killar reacted to SwarmEdits in New PSU or not?
If you are using the pc for watching videos is it really necessary to upgrade the GPU?
I would recommend upgrading the CPU to a newer one as this is in general will boost the performance of the pc in tasks such as watching videos and using the internet. This in turn would mean that you will not have to upgrade the power supply as 350 watts is more than enough for the CPU and other components like RAM and Hard drives.
If you are set on upgrading the graphics card then use a power supply calculator that you can find online or use the one i linked. The HD7850 isn't a very power hungry card, only using around 100 to 110 watts on full load but i would recommend using the website just to be safe.

Las_Killar reacted to millerb415 in Will an ssd help?
that would not be an ssd that is from the components thermal trotting to save themselves from too much heat doing what Las_Killar suggested should fix it. A ssd will help speed it up overall but having a hdd is not the reason for the problem. also what Mr_flynn stated about the ram limitations could be it also

I didn't notice that until afterwards. Changed it to a 550w and lowered the price by $30

it's a good build, but i am just wondering why go with a 850 watt psu?
the system will not even get over 400 watt on full load

Las_Killar reacted to lukesterboy in If you have a home server, what are you uses for it?
Oh ok and yeah maybe because you live in Denmark as far as I know when I've hosted ts3 servers on my PC before its worked fine with at least 10 people and 10 people is a busy time on my server so as long as runs and allows 5 people on, I don't care

Las_Killar reacted to HKZeroFive in does this build work, and any tips?
Get a better power supply such as the Corsair CX450M or the Seasonic S12II. The rest looks fine.

Las_Killar reacted to don_svetlio in It is personal
i5 6400 is what I recommend. It's about 60% faster than the i3 6100 (since the i5 has 4 actual cores rather than 2 cores with HT)

Las_Killar got a reaction from LynxThe1st in Is it safe to force 75 Hz on my laptop's screen?
Yeah, my friend oc'ed the hz on his desktop monitor and the difference was very clear to see, after that he just plain hates 60hz and constantly oc's his monitor.

Las_Killar reacted to Enderman in Is it safe to force 75 Hz on my laptop's screen?
also look at any 75Hz monitor review
people can see the difference
you can also see the difference between 60 and 90
or 120 and 144

Las_Killar reacted to OnionRings in A good editing PC?
How about this one? http://pcpartpicker.com/user/OnionRings/saved/mY2p99 went for an 8 core 4ghz, can't tell me that isn't strong enough for editing. And since no on board graphics I slapped on a cheap GT 630 which rates right above intel HD 4600. Yay or nay? Im not worried about the cards speeds, just the overall useful-ness and hold up of it, no ratings to tell if it exploded on anybody or stopped working.
Should I down the cpu a bit and go for a bit more beefy card instead?
-
Las_Killar reacted to OnionRings in A good editing PC?
Well thanks a ton man for all the help, I think I'll use your final build as long as the price of the parts don't go up in a few days when I buy it. In the mean time I messed with some elgato settings and noticed the encoder settings were set to my gpu and not my cpu so maybe my integrated are just so terrible it can't encode and decode the footage so I'm trying using my cpu now and see what happens.

Las_Killar reacted to SnowyMus in i5-6600k with a 1440p monitor or 17-6700k with a 1080p monitor
The Intel Core i7-6700K is a great processor for CPU-intensive tasks, especially for tasks that demand threads, such as encoding. It crushes games with an iron (or silicon?) fist, provided the graphics card is up to snuff. While the i7 is widely believed to be better for content creation, the i5 will still get you where you need to be pretty quickly. It'll still destroy games, and it's still got very solid computing performance, so it'll still fit your needs just nicely.
However, if it's a choice between 1080p and 1440p, I'd go with 1440p. I find 1080p to be claustrophobic on the desktop, and you get over 75% more pixels with 1440p.

Las_Killar got a reaction from Bradders in i5-6600k with a 1440p monitor or 17-6700k with a 1080p monitor
Then the i5 is more than enough, plus you will get better quality videos for YT with the 1440P resolution

Las_Killar got a reaction from duckwithanokhat in i5-6600k with a 1440p monitor or 17-6700k with a 1080p monitor
What will be the main purpose with the rig?
Gaming? recording and editing? Programming?
If you only want to game, record and editing to YT then the i5 is more than enough, the i7 would just be overkill.
If you want to game, record, render and run programming at the same time a i7 is the way to go.
