  1. It sound more like a software problem, otherwise you should suffer from a bad HDD. But i would try to monitor the freenas CPU usage when the buffering is happening to see if the cpu spikes. If no spike is occuring then try to monitor the lan connection to see if it dies entirely when its stopping before the buffering. If you can't any anormallies in cpu or network usage, i would check the HDD's for fails or low read speeds. If you then still can't find anything that should be out of the ordinary then i would either do a complete reinstallment of freenas or i would grab a usb with 4-8Gb and get unraid on that to see if the problem occurs with that. The thought about going over to Unraid would make sense when you are new to freenas (i have used freenas for quite a while BUT still feels rather newbie to it still) And the step from the i3 4150 to a Ryzen 5 2600 will grant you nearly 10k passmark points and a good thumb rule is that plex want around 2k passmark for transcoding a 1080P file. My final thought can be that i thing you would benefit more from Unraid rather then freenas, it's easier to upgrade with more storage (as long as the parity disk is the largest disk) and it's easy to install plugins like the "community applications" than makes it's so easy to install plugins like Plex, Ombi, Deluge, Rutorrent and so on. It runs directly from the usb and as long as you grab the storage in the machine it is easy to just plug the usb and the drives in a new machine and then boom machine is either upgraded or downgraded (depending on what you want)
  2. Okay it sounds like you got the NZXT Kraken X52 and that should be more than enough. I would then try and go with Majestics advise, and reseat the cooler on the cpu
  3. Okay, can you see if the radiator is equipped with one or two fans? Cause it might be the cooler is to small, but that would only be the cause if it was the 140mm radiator (one fan'ed rad)
  4. I would go with the intel deal and swap the B150 to a z100-200series mobo instead.. You could always either sell og use the B150 for something else.
  5. The Core 2 Duo doesn't have an intergrated GPU so the motherboard has an GPU chip but it is to slow to view youtube videos at 720P and i would like to watch 1080P, and the HD7850 is a leftover card from one of my previous machines so it would just be nice to make it to good use again But thanks for the info and link I know But i just want to save some bucks if i has to purchase another PSU (here in Denmark the rated PSU is overcharged in price)
  6. I know and that is why i am in doubt. But my buddy has an Intel Core 2 duo with same TDP and a GTX 550 ti on a 330Watt PSU and he's machine is running but he is not pushing it or anything like i wouldn't do because of i just want it to watch movies on I am also thinking about finding another but i don't need it to be an 80+ rated so could i just get a 500 watt PSU or ?
  7. Okay, it's an okay CPU but if you could get an Q6600 or better then already there there would be a massiv change, Even a E8400 can be used to run BF3 on No reason to change the motherboard cause the formula is great with great OC Awesome PSU no change should be needed there If you can get hold on 4GB or more that would be great for the machine (just be aware of the max supported size may be around 8GB total) If the video card is older than for example the GTX 660 then a card in this area would make it a little fighting machine If the sound is good through that card then no reason to tamper with it And of cause because the machine is so "old" there is no reason to buy new parts but for around 1650DKr (250USD) here in denmark i can get an Q6600 + 8GB + GTX 660 ti to that machine
  8. Hi guys I got an old pc with and Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz processor with stock cooler and 6 gigs of DDR3 ram (unknown brand) 1333MHz. And i am wondering if i can put a HD7850 graphic card in the machine without replacing the PSU. The one that sits in the machine at the moment is an old FSP350-60MDN which has an onput on 350watt. I know that the E8400 has an TDP at 65watt, so in my mind that would leave (approx) some 285 watt to the GPU but i am not sure. There will be no OC on the machine and the only purpose for it will be just an video machine, ergo youtube and movies. Should i try with the PSU or should i get another one?
  9. If you can get some specs on the machine then i might have some suggestions for you
  10. You just need the drivers for both and then you'll need to specify what card your mine software can use.. There shouldn't be more than that
  11. BF4 was more or less just a reskin of BF3.. So why should it be different with BF1? And i do understand that you'll properly gonna skip this one, i am thinking the same thing.
  12. Have you tried to take the laptop apart and cleaned the fan and heatsinks for dust. it is an older laptop and HP does has some heat problems when there is dust in the system and will get slow like hell. plus while you are cleaning it, remove the old cooling paste and apply some new.
  13. Yeah, it should fit then with no problems at all, unless the case has a cable management room behind the motherboard with a width 2", which it unlikely has
  14. If the battery cells has collapsed then those cells will not charge any power at all. So your battery is most likely completely KIA
