  1. I do believe I have a Ultimate key left in the scrap pile so I need to go digging lol. I was just going to use pro, But sounds like digging for the other key might be worth it I don't really remember what patches is likes and the system it was on when it ran at it's most stable was fully up to date before going EoL so I was just going to replicate that environment lol
  2. (Sorry for a bit of a preamble but I'm trying to cut off some of the non-helpful post ahead of time) I need Windows 7 on real hardware for some older proprietary software who's vendor is long dead, And no suitable replacement is available to me. I have gone the VM route for some time but it doesn't play nice with them. It also will not even install on Windows 10 due to the (I'm guessing 16bit) installer failing to load. And the one rig I had it on before updating to 10 proves the software has major stability issues on that platform. The software in question doesn't need internet to run, So the system will be limited to the local network only making online security issues after install and update a moot point. (The real question of the post) While installing 7 is as simple as burn the ISO to DVD and slap it in the old rig. The issue comes from updating it to the best patch levels due to Win7 being EoL. So my question is, Is the builtin updater still alive to the last patches released or will I need to find alternate ways like with XP and older? And if I do need other ways what are the best ones people have safely tried?
  3. Let me start by saying I'm no Mac guy and know little about OS X, However I was given an old mid 2010 Mac Mini to mess around with running OS X 10.13.6 and having an issue with getting into my Media "server". I have a few computers in the house with sharing enabled and the ones with password logins work just as you would expect. But the one I use to store my media files doesn't have any passwords set and none of the options I use work, Just giving me a failed to connect error. I have tried using "guest" as well as the windows admin account name and both blank or random password (sometimes works on Linux/Android systems). Are there other methods I'm missing?

  5. Holy *&%@ balls batman. the price tags on some of these! lol Ok should mention you need to 2X the price tags of anything since we need to buy 2 copies to play together and some of these to get fully loaded run close us to if not over $200USD x_X Also friendly fire and my GF do not mix... Tiny Tina is more reserved with AoE attacks then my GF XD
  6. My girlfriend and I are looking for couch or online Co-Op open world games to play What we are looking for are mostly NON-MMO 2-4 player RPG games and she isn't a big fan of shooters so more the style of Elder Scrolls (Yes we did ESO already) We have played the Divinity games and aren't really in the mood for "Retro" style graphics and/or character locked games. We can deal with turn based if we need but prefer realtime combat
  7. And the two games I've been wanting the most Mercenaries 2 and KOTRO 1 will not even launch.. KOTOR 2 can be made to work with a few bugs
  8. I have looked for and tried caps both in game settings and forced though the Nvidia panel but it' hasn't helped the games that will not launch due to engine bugs with over 60hz refresh rates
  9. Sadly no.. And some will not even launch like Mercs: 2.. I even tried forcing a frame cap in the Nvidia panel with no luck
  10. Ok so to lead off, The games I am trying to play do work on my desktop so will run on Win10 (some with a little tinkering) but I have a Dell G7 laptop with both an iGPU and RTX 2070. I want to have some older games installed that I know run well on the iGPU due to anything that tries to use the 2070 on battery makes the it's i7 power throttle to the point a Pentium 3 could out run it with a giggle and light jog... The major problem I am running into is a lot of old games like Mercenaries 2 and KOTOR 1 etc have major issues on any monitor with a refresh rate higher the 60hz. Which can range from texture and game play bugs, Up too just outright failing to launch. And thanks to Dell's shortsighted hardware engineering the monitor's rate can't be changed and is effectively locked at 144hz. So I am looking for ideas and other workarounds that might help with games that have said problem and no per-game way to fix it (I.E. no fan patch or mod files for a given game)
  11. Ironic this post is on top of the list given I'm here to ask for advice on getting old games Like Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and the KOTOR's to work because they crash on high refresh rate monitors, And said rate not being adjustable (Thanks Dell >_>) Well of the oldest games I still play Morrowind comes to mind. Just did a play though not too long ago. Also on the Emu side I've played PS2 games like Dark Cloud and the Armored Core line recently too. Oh yea also can't forget the N64 Ocarina of Time xD
  12. So I have an ONN 8" tablet running Android 9 which was cheap and over all meets the important but limited needs I have for it, But it has one very annoying quirk.. I use an SD card set as portable storage and anytime I move image files to it they become unreadable until I fully shutdown and restart the tablet (just rebooting doesn't work).. I already tested 3 different and known good SD cards so it's not a bad card, And tried both the default as well as some 3rd party file manager apps so I don't think it's a app bug so I am out of idea's on what I might be able to do to fix it
  13. Ok so for a 20 buck difference is think it's worth going for a H150i over the H115i? https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Radiator-Software-Control-Liquid/dp/B0829RYPKM/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Corsair+H115i&qid=1601602018&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Radiator-Advanced-Lighting-Software/dp/B0829S536D/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=H115i+RGB+Platinum&qid=1601507143&sr=8-9
  14. Yea but it's proving it can't really keep up with the 3950x under heavy 3D render loads
  15. I have but the size of the ones I've seen might be an issue with the case, So I am looking at AIO's for the 1st time in many years of building lol
