I dont think x5650 will bottleneck 1070 at all (if you get decent OC) x5650 is on pair with i7 6700 stock, so you will be fine..

chexor got a reaction from Ra1nier in Only 3.95Gb of 8Gb usable ram on Ryzen, windows 10/ 64 bit, is that normal?
I was sure it had something to do with BIOS settings, but this guy @pyrojoe34  was right. First i swapped dimms order placed second dimm where first was and first where second was, again 3.95 usable... I checked with 1st ram, works fine, shows 4gb ram, i changed it to 2nd dimm, again everything fine 4gb, but after that when i inserted them both same way like before, when i went into BIOS, there was 8gb of ram, happy me. In windows everything is fine, it shows now 8gb. Thanks all, probably was dumb bios..

chexor got a reaction from Taurian in ASROCK p67 extreme6 Top two PCIE slots not working.
It is very likely to be chipset p67 b3 related, i had problem with asus p8p67 with 2500k, and at random moments both pci slots stoped working, when i re-installed gpu (plug it out then plug it back) it would work just fine, tried other gpu same problem..

chexor got a reaction from Keyser Malik in HD 7790 or GTX 560 Ti?
Online benchmarking websites for older gpus are not accurate and i wouldnt trust that much for hd 7790.
    Check this one http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html
They update this link very often, it is not like which gpu is better but what tier it is..
GTX 560ti is one tier above HD 7790..
As far as i know that is pretty accurate..

chexor got a reaction from Emberstone in Should I buy an Intel Xeon X5650?
X58 is not place for you if you want low power draw..
Xeons like E3 are usually good, but for video editing you can use a bit high core clock (im not expert tho).
If you want x58 combo with motherboard, cpu ram and cooler will cost you probably 200$ (or around that because 1366 mobo is 100$ or more)
I would suggest you r5 1600, it is 65w TDP (yes i know TDP is not whole power draw), but is 50% less then xeon, and has same amount of cores and threads as xeon, higher clock, comes with good cooler, it is new platform which you can reuse after some time..

Get a x5680 for less than $100 and make sure you have 16gb RAM. search me recent posts for performance ideas. Don't listen to everyone saying to wait and not bother, mostly that's just them not being familiar with the chips.

chexor got a reaction from Damascus in Case airflow, can i revert back fan to pull air?
For 39 euros it is great, support ATX boards (and extended ones aswell), i think 3 or 4  2,5' and 3 3,5' hdds. It supports every long gpu, package for case is very good (comes with foam that protects glass).
I had problem with PSU 8pin cable, cutout is behind mobo, so you must roat it about 2cm under mobo, other cutouts are good like for HD audio usb etc (2 cutouts for that stuff), supports up to 360mm aio rad. But doesnt come with any fans.

Everybody wants rx 570/580 and prices are 50 or 100 $ more then regular, that is why 580 is 40euros more then 1060. If you just want card right now go with gtx 1060 6gb strix, it is maybe 1-2 % slower then rx580, but if you like dx11 titles it will be faster probably by 2-3%

Well for me, for other people even 1.4v is safe voltage for some 1.425v, but i dont think you should go beyond 1.4v..

In past i had problem both with Amd and Nvidia. You cant be sure for either of those 2 brends that it wont fail maybe 2-3 years from now... For future games rx480 has more potential then gtx1060, but thats all up to you..

chexor got a reaction from Theodore2017 in Late to the game, overclocked 2500k questions
Ye, i am on 1.35v right now, cant go any higher because temps are going above 80c. For DRAM you must set your default voltage, that depends on your memory (for me that's 1.6v). PCH voltage is on auto, when ever i try to put any value it is unstable i have no idea why.. Maybe because p67 chipset (pch is chipset voltage i think), and for CPU PLL it is 1.9v (again some valuse may vary, but in bios in right corner you should see what voltage is safe to write and if you go higher it will be written in RED text).

About stresstesting PC. Why are you even stressing your pc so hard  do few round with cinabench, prime95 for 1h and play some game that is cpu dependent and you will be good to go if that is stable, in 99% of cases if in 1h of prime you have no crash, you will be fine..

1.425v for 4.8 Ghz is not bad.. I have not heard of someone got 4.7Ghz on 1.4v or under that. It would be ideally if somehow you can get 5Ghz on 1.45v or anything lower then that.
If you are already bumping up voltage just take everything from that overclock what you can, because at the end, with voltage you are getting shorter cpu life > higher temps

chexor got a reaction from ShadyOrb09 in Where do I plug in this 2-pin fan?
My advice, plug them directly to PSU. Cut connector from wires, remove isolation and hook them up in any molex adapter (you can buy for 1$ or cheaper) red is + black is -  for psu that means black is - and yellow is + (go red with psu-yellow and black with black, if its 5v cooler then you go for red-red wire) You cant demage your psu with this, worst thing that you can kill cooler i guess if you mess up something..

I'm using 2500k on p67 borad, and i found out that voltages for the VCCSA, VCCIO, CPU PLL, PCH make difference for me. I was crashing at 4.6Ghz whenever i went into windows, 1.35v. Then i did some research and set voltages like default values for DRAM etc, and it was stable after that. I'm stack with 212evo, so i cant go any higher then 4.6Ghz temp limit..

chexor got a reaction from HeavyFtw in New to overclocking i7 6700k
Use HW monitor for temp monitoring, aida64 and cinabench for stresstesting (aida has free trail anyway). I would highly suggest you enermax Liqmax II 240. I was blown away with Enermax quality for under 80$ AIO. Cooler is silent under 70-80% speed, batwings are doing great job with static pressure. I overclocked friends 6600k to 4.7Ghz, and after 3h aida64 temps were under 55c.. Other AIO that are 2 or 3 times more expensive, can give you around 51-53c in same testing method..
