  1. Lowest I found for the Haswell 1150 is 48 CPU + 66-75 MB but the AMD combo I found will be 40 CPU + 50 MB and I'm told for this instance the AMD is better? Kinda new to this so I'm going off what I'm being told from here and there recommendations so bare with me lol Last 2 items I'm looking for is a better quality but low budget case that's not junk and is on the smaller side like a mini tower size, trying to stay under 16x16 size and PSU that won't light fire to the whole house when we go to bed lol Keep in mind original budget was 200 then 225 and now... it's creeping up to 275 Intel CPU 48 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83U90757&cm_re=haswell_1150-_-19-117-301-_-Product MB 66 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157376&cm_re=haswell-_-13-157-376-_-Product 75 which I'd prefer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130700&cm_re=haswell-_-13-130-700-_-Product ------------- AMD we finally chose CPU/GPU AMD A-6 5400K 40$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-113-282#top MB 50$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130856&cm_re=amd_motherboard-_-13-130-856-_-Product
  2. OH MY! Thanks again lol, and I thought they were the *better of the *junkier low end stuff for basic builds lol I guess the lowest good stuff would still be double the budget then.
  3. Thanks bro! Yes, that's a lot of awesome info which I did actually go through lol I actually watched all but 2 of the videos before posting here, then watched them since you recommended. and I looked through the Tier lists but I have only found 2 of the 4 I'm considering. I think it's cause not many serious people review the lower end basic system stuff for a light weight build like I'm doing maybe?? Makes sense cause this is mostly a gamers world that would only focus on the higher end more powerful supplies I think. Anywho, even though it's a low end basic build I'm trying to find something as reliable as possible if you could tell me which you'd choose on a basic build for someone you care about, here's what I found and am debating among these 4 units: **Tier 7 PSU 29+4$ EVGA 430w 80plus bronze http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438015 **Tier 6 PSU 40$ Corsair 430w -- 80plus BRONZE Certified http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 **NOT FOUND either of these on tier lists** PSU 40+6$ XFS 400w -- 80plus BRONZE Certified http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207036 PSU 38+4$ Seasonic 300w -- 80plus BRONZE Certified http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151146
  4. Hi again guys, as for a PSU, anyone have any GOOD or BAD comments? Trying to find a brand to go with, trying to figure out what to look at or NOT look at even.
  5. ok that MSI AM1M would work great I think, but.... I can't find it for sale "NEW" from a decent enough place to return/exchange if there were any issues, like through Newegg or Tigerdirect etc.. Ebay has a few used and 1 new no returns though. Amazon had 1 new no returns. did you see it anywhere?
  6. Yea the AMD 5350 is cool with us but does anyone know if there is a decent MB that has the 3.0 usb port for the case? or did you come up with the same results as me so far lol ?
  7. Yea we have Windows 7 ready to install but she's set on all new parts and then basically abandoning the Vista computer and keeping it as a back up.
  8. Only complaints now are it's got Vista and will no longer update since Chrome and Adobe stopped updating for Vista now. So there is issues with a few sites she goes to. So since her computer is about 7-8 years old anyway, she rather start fresh with all new parts, get a bigger HDD, just more up to date guts all around. We found and liked these parts below but found the MB didn't have the 3.0 usb port and a couple people said this stuff is sort of outdated anyway? MSI - MB 35$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130759&cm_re=am1_motherboard-_-13-130-759-_-Product AMD - CPU was 43$ on sale, now 50 I think. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-113-364&Tpk=AMD%20Athlon So I figure maybe we could find something comprable, maybe a next step up or something?
  9. Hi guys and thanks for all the replies. I'm just stopping home real quick and have to go out again now but to answer a few questions I saw. Current system she is used to is Pentium Dual Core E5300 @ 2.60 GHz, 6 GB Ram and don't laugh too much but it's running Vista lol (puke) So anything more up to date will be a nice improvement I'm sure. What's the budget for the whole system? 250 max. If I could keep the CPU and MB under 50$ each that would be great. Case we picked is about 40 WD Blue 1TB HDD is about 55 Looking for reliability mostly, she has over 200 GB of pics now and adds more regularly. I really like the reviews on the 43$ AMD AM1 5350 quad core and that 35$ MSI mini ITX board from Newegg but the MSI board doesn't have an onboard 3.0 plug for the case. We aren't restricting ourselves to mini ITX either, I'm just saying what the original plan was.. Thinking 8GB of ram should be fine. Anyway, I got to run back out but I'll check replies as soon as I can. Thank you ALL very much for the help so far!
  10. HI all, I need some help / guidance and advice selecting a cpu and motherboard. This is my first build for a friend on a tight budget. This will not be a gaming pc but we were hoping to make it decent and more up to date than her current 7 year old pc. Here are a few wants to keep in mind. - Something dual core or better in the AMD family to keep it in budget. - MB needs to have onboard 3.0 usb plugs so we can use the 3.0 usb ports on the front of the case. - Something that will stay cooler as she leaves her PC on all the time and rarely reboots. - MB needs to have an HDMI output - Both MB and CPU need to be in the 50$ or less range. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Matt
