PCGuy_5960 got a reaction from GingerGoPro in I7 6800K OC problems
Oh. It didn't automatically go to 1.4V. That's very good
If you want to get a higher overclock, manually set the voltage to 1.3 or 1.35V and with this voltage you will be able to get the most out of your CPU...

4.3 to 4.4 is about average for Broadwell-E. 4.5 to 4.6 is the higher end with quality chips. Not very common, but you never know how good your chip is until you push it.
The H105 will more than likely heatsoak a bit with a 6800k during long term testing. The water temp continues to rise slowly to a point so you'll need to what temps over time.
Package temp is the most important thing to keep an eye on with x99. Core temps are important, but your package temp will generally be a good deal higher so keep an eye on it.
I'd recommend creating separate overclocking profiles saved in BIOS for different overclock speeds. That allows you to switch between stock speed and any of your save OC profiles easily. Create one that's a mild overclock and another that it a high overclock. Run it on the mild one daily, but use the high overclock when needed such as when running benchmarks.
Oh, and give @PCGuy_5960 some thumbs up for helping you.

This board likely doesnt have the power delivery needed for decent OC any as it has a 4 pin cpu power connector.

Do this. Use Arctic MX-4 or EK Ectotherm as they are not conductive/capacitive

Fair enough. Also i'm not big on taking older parts unless it's something that won't impact performance much, if at all (such as power supplies and all of those components) so i'll probably just get the 7500. Thanks though!

I think Ryzen gaming performance would increase little bit because games don't utalize SMT as Hyperthreading and AMD has sent instructions to game developers so they can optimise games for ryzen as well as they do for intel.

Will do. I'll order some of that TIM. Thanks for the help. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Np BTW, because you are applying thermal paste directly on the die, make sure that you have enough thermal paste to completely cover the die.

aye suppose, that also being said you never know, I hope we're both wrong and these 6 cores are, but who knows, probably worse. I was thinking with intel, the more cores you have the lower the frequency, and I was thinking something similar might happen here. maybe

That's a good tip I hadn't considered lol.

give it time, as ryzen becomes more mainstream and game developers start using them and/or making games run on them better (can't remember what that's called at the moment), but yea 6 core gaming will probably start coming in soon as these CPUs become more mainstream and more common

Yes, but IPC that is on par with Broadwell was a lie

I have high expectations of i8/9 and volta maybe the flagship card could run 8k gaming

bad ocing is not due to rushing the product out but because its fresh design on new node on CPU that has been in the works for 4 years.
early ES chips were running at 3 ghz , AMD clocked those chips very close to limit ~4 ghz that's why they don't OC that well.
With new steppings and process optimizations overclocking well improve a lot.

I do want Ryzen. As soon as they make one that can beat my 2 year old 5960x on ambient cooling. It would be silly to get the newer Ryzen jut because it's newer. It has to do something else beside being new. You get it, right?
By the way, doesn't your chip come in today?

Listen dude as you can read from my sig i Run a 8120 so dont Talk to me about Bad benchmarks. Yes obviously OC will get you more for your money but Not everyonemwants to tinker. Doesnt make this board pointless. Im Not saying non OC ryzen would be my choice for gaming im just saying itx boards have their place inspite being Not so super well endowed for OC as bigger boards
