It affects power efficiency, which you can either use to do the same thing with less power consumption, or do more with the same power consumption, or somewhere inbetween.

I think the key in saying the warranty is void is the use of the word "IMPROPERLY".

That's true. PS4 and Xbox one have 8 threads and most games use 8 threads....
    Battlefield 1 on Ryzen:
    Watch_dogs 2 on Ryzen:

The problem with Ryzen's gaming performance is not that games can't take advantage of multiple cores. The problem is that games USE multiple cores. Let me explain:
Ryzen is not a "simple" 8 core die, it is a single die with dual quad core CCXs. The latency between cores on different CCXs is very high compared to the latency between cores on the same CCX. (Almost 3x higher). This is from PCPer's article:
So if games become more multithreaded, threads that belong to cores on different CCXs would have to communicate and this would cause performance issues. This issue can be fixed if games are optimized to use up to 8 threads that belong to cores that are on the same CCX, so that the exchange of data between CCXs can be avoided. Either way, Ryzen 7 is not a gaming CPU, even if AMD marketed it as one. It is an amazing CPU for productivity and heavy multitasking and this is what this CPU is meant for.

yup, i agree other then light gaming or secondary gaming task ryzen should not be bought for gaming.

The 5820K is cheaper and it overclocks better. The 6800K is just not worth it right now...

More a question as to the performance. The node shrink really didn't impact performance that much. The largest impact was the efficiency.

No, the 390x always gave me the giggles. My 290 could catch one LOL. The Fury smokes a RX 480. When the drivers are there.

Only in Vulkan and DX12... In DX11, the 1060 beats both

My advice is to cancel your H100i order and get a Noctua NH-D15, it is considerably quieter than the H100i and comes with Noctua Fans

Actually, games nowadays use more than 4GBs of vRAM, but you don't get a huge performance hit if you don't have more than 4GBs...

The STRIX RX 480 is the best RX 480! Get it!

Overclock the 980 to 1500MHz, retest

    This is my point.
The 980ti has 2816 cuda cores, the 1070 has 1920 cuda cores. Both perform the same.

I think he should keep his current order as he already got it. Now to your point I would keep these fans that are included and do some testing and see how they go and if you feel they are to to loud try out the noctua and see if anything changes.

In fact, a 1500MHz 980 Ti, gets pretty dang close to a stock 1080....(In some games at least)

Until you look at VR, there the 980ti get's it's ass handed to it. The information is still coming but the analysis using the new VR benchmarking tool does not look good for Maxwell.

PCGuy_5960 reacted to ivan134 in What makes Pascal so powerful?
Yup. I'm not even going to argue with you there. AMD was trying to market Polaris as power efficient and gimped the clock speeds and bandwidth to do it (stock VRAM is 1750, mine is 2000).

The 580 is supposedly coming with 1340 as the base clock. If this is true, that's what it should have been.
