I saw this video by DIY Perks. I think it would be rather cool if Linus or someone else at LMG tried it out.

This doesn't specifically say the HD 7870 supports DirectX 12 either, but it does say all R7 series cards do. And most of the early R7 cards were just rebrands of the HD 7000's. If, say, the R7 270X supports DirectX 12, the HD 7870 must. It's the same chip.

PCGuy_5960 reacted to LucidMew in AMD Ryzen 5 and 3 Tested!
Which cores on which CCX's did you disable on Ryzen? Because Inter-CCX communication isn't as good as Intercore communication on Intel. Ryzen 5 is supposedly going to be a 3-3 system, and I don't know about Ryzen 3.

The good stuff like MX-4 makes a difference but idk what they use.
Buying it yourself and reapplying the cpu cooler would be the best option though

PCGuy_5960 reacted to Carlos.33193 in Temperatures before and after delid and lapping 6700k
So I noticed my EK Nickel CPU Waterblock was pretty uneven and my 6700K temperatures would be pretty high running AIDA 64 CPU Stress test and i could not run FPU stress test.
I just wanted to show the temperature difference with delidding and applying Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut and lapping the Waterblock using sandpaper.
About 12C difference. and i can run FPU test with 70C Max temp now. I would say the lapping on the waterblock was the main cause of the temperature drop, but delidding and adding conductonaut didn't hurt and was extremely easy with the rockit cool delid tool.
P.S. Also as you can see Chassis #2 Fan is my D5 Pump which I run at constant 1500RPM, and CPU fan is my radiator fans which I run at around 350rpm (Noctua NF-F12) and Chassis fan 1 is my rear exhaust at ~450RPM (Noctua NF-F12). So the computer is completely silent under full load as the temps don't go that high anymore.

Then again the rx580 has been marketed to beat the 1070, Vega should come between the 1080 and 1080ti At least.. but oh well... we if learned something with Ryzen is that AMD does know how to make workstations but not gaming beasts... we'll see when it comes out.
Regardless I think that OP's question was rightfully answered

PCGuy_5960 reacted to i_build_nanosuits in Would it be worth it going from 3570K to 7700K in about a month?
they will probably have a cut down version of the RX Vega chip that will slot in between the 1070 and the 1080...and we think the RX Vega will slot somewhere between the 1080 and the 1080ti, probably closer to the 1080.
Maybe they will call the cut down vega RX 590, but the RX 580 is a RX 480 rebrand.
