Like does anyone use WeChat outside of China?

Chinese expat that need to communicate home, even I (a non-Chinese, both racially and as a citizen) use WeChat, mostly to communicate with friends (both Chinese and non-Chinese that live in China).

Not saying that it's the majority of users, because for sure it's user base is in China, but WeChat has it's uses outside of the Great Wall ;)

1 friend and 1 previous-cowoker are still in China and regularly post on WeChat, I communicate with them from time to time, and I keep up with my wife when she went to China (twice) without me, without WeChat, it would honestly be hard to keep in touch because of all the banned stuff in China (ironic isn't it? That China bans so many western companies, but when the west try to ban even one, there's an uproar!!! lol)

EDIT ; but I'm in Canada, so this won't affect me one way or another, but it has the potential to affect a lot of innocent people in the US ... not defending WeChat, just pointing out that there's a need for that app ;)

Huh, interesting, I've never seen anyone use it so I just assumed that the user base outside of China was almost 0. Turns out I was wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, if you take into account that China has over a Billion people (1.3 ?), then yeah, a few millions outside of China is statistically close to 0 :P
