Another video that confirms that this Windows patch doesn't affect performance:
But this patch bricked his Windows installation, so maybe it's a good thing that I didn't install this update because I don't feel like reinstalling Windows.

I already patched my laptop, performs identically as before, so much dramaaaaaaa, there's one user in here that is driving me crazy though about this, Intel is no safe no safe! have never seen someone exaggerate something as much... seems like that xmas gift all amd fan boys were waiting for.
-
@Damascus Yeah, just use a potato. 10x better than a PC
-
I still don’t have much idea about what it is lol. I’m not installing anything.
-
@Princess Cadence Not safe enough. This is how you can be safe :^)

You know what, I hear 1995 is the cutoff, Im sure I could get something perfectly useable from 1994... Nvm

Imagine if we had something like the millennium bug today? drama and trolling would take over the internet so hard I'd have to consider @PCGuy_5960's alternative

My Steam server got the update; no performance degradation. I'm with @Princess Cadence on this one. A tester found a 5 to 30% degradation depending on workload and yet everyone focused on the 30% loss when it only applied to two of the results and consumers will very rarely use such programs.

*AMD Fanboys focused on the 30% loss, because they wanted top prove that Intel is bad
I bet that this vulnerability:
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/06/amd_cpu_psp_flaw/
is going to be swept under the rug simply because it's AMD.

It seems to me that this doesn't matter much for the average user. It really only matters for servers. Which is good for AMD, because this could help Epyc's market penetration A LOT, but for us doesn't matter that much.
