I can't say that this video was very good TBH.

I mean, come on, who uses an i3-7100 when the G4560 exists? They could have built a PC with a G4560 and a 1060 or 580, for (roughly) the same amount of money and it would have performed much better than that i3/1050 Ti build.

And we should not forget that if you want to play games online on console, you have to pay $60/year. Online multiplayer is completely free on PC, so you could use those $60 to get a better CPU or graphics card :D

And that is only for a year... if you have it until the next refresh (5ish years) it will cost you $350 for online multiplayer

No idea what hardware/software they used, but I'm betting $110 dollars that they didn't include Windows licensing into the cost.

    Yeah, seems doable

Okay, so it seems they made the PC without the cost of Windows, but then made a disclaimer that adding the license cost to the build forfeits any value the PC would have had for 4K.

LTT budget builds always suck... overclocking i5's over locked i7's have always been their rule hehe

PC is always better for many other reasons IMO. (spend FAR less on games, more free games, longevity, upgrade-ability, versatility...etc.). There's also the whole subjective personal preference aspect of it that often plays a larger role in people decisions vs just pure FPS and graphics per dollar numbers.

@Princess Cadence they overclock i5s over locked i7s, im not sure why, most of the semi tech people who have built their pcs havent overclocked, when they do, they ask me for help on how to do it, and its like, why? Why did you get a k i5 and not a locked i7?

@Ashiella After every thing I have search and learned so far I am 100% sure that getting the i7 8700 on the cheapest mATX z370 mobo you can possible find and even using the stock cooler or a cheap decent enough aftermarket one is a better route than getting a great motherboard, expensive 240mm~280mm AiO to overclock the i5 8600k

@Princess Cadence I always told people that getting an i7-6700+B150 was better than a 6600K+Z170+Cooler when it wasn't as obvious as it is now, I actually got a lot of shit for it back then :P

  10. Ashiella

    Ashiella

I mean, for me it was cheaper to get the 6600k with the cooler and z170 board at the time, by about ~180

@Morgan MLGman And this is why they should have let the community choose the parts for that $500 build. :D

If we want to go that route and yelled at for it: locked i7 and Z-chipset with fast RAM. Nobody sees the value in this kind of build, but I do.

  13. PCGuy_5960

    PCGuy_5960

A locked i7 with a Z-series board and fast RAM makes more sense than an unlocked i5 with a Z-chipset board IMO. :P

    Morgan MLGman

Indeed, what's more - you can set such a locked i7 to max Turbo speed on all cores on most Z-chipset boards which also improves performance ^_^
